"Man, that brings back memories..............mine was sh**" !!!!! That is a great complement.

That is putting it very nicely and not to harsh at all in my belief. If he were to ever get a ride in any of our cars by any of us (which I dought any of us would take such a WIMP for a ride) he would probley have to change his drawers after the first turn (tail of the car hanging out while steadley accelerating) and we would have to clean the mess up in the seat that he was siting in. We would then have to most likely deal with his layer for scaring the you know what out of the big wuss that most likely drives an economy car that he thinks is a race car or wishes that it was and has no clue as to the abilities of a SEVEN.

Al, That sure will look good on some lucky persons 7 that attends the Auto-X at the Dragon. If only it was not 3000+ miles to the Dragon from my location and I had the time to attend. Martin

Way to go. You will have a lot to talk about and a lot of good time in the feature. Post some photos if you have them and mabe a post on your trip home in your new RIDE.

Hi Mazda, I use a pice of fine sand paper to get the majority of the large scratches out then I use a green scotch brite pad and then a rust red scotch brite pad to finish it. If you want the little circle pattern then you will need an electric drill motor that you can make turn at very slow speed and a small sanding disk that will fit into the drill with some fine sand paper and a lot of time as it is very time consuming. I painted my cowl after the second time and now the only things that is not painted are the hood and the rear skin and the side pannels. When doing the hood and side pannels use long straight strokes with the sand paper and scotch brite to get the best results. Have fun.

Yep your hooked. You can all most see the grin on your face when you kept from hitting that cone towards the end of the run even though you were going away from the camera.

Thanks Stan. That looks like a good place to head for a sight seeing trip sometime in the feature. Martin

Nice photos but I wounder what is inside of that building or what is was used for.

That is very cool. Your friend can and does drive the wheels off that seven. The head cam at first made me feel like he was about to tip it over in the first thirty seconds of the vedio.

Your car looks like it handles well and has lots of grip to make the tires flex like that which is good as long as you do not roll a bead. I have a couple of photos in the photo section at the bottom of the list of photos and it shows my tires flexing the same way if you look close. What were your times and what was the course like, number of turns, length...etc. Have fun and watch out for those pesky orange cones...it sure is addictive isn't it. My first auto-x was 40 yrs ago or so in an MG Midget.

You should just drive it home. Give yourself three (3) days to make the drive and you should be fine The adventure will be one experance you will be able to talk about for the rest of your life if nothing else. I would check the oil, rear dif fluid level, trans fluid level, fan belts and hoses and tires and go for it. If you hit rain that is more than just a shower find a hotel until it passes or just press on. I have driven my car in Oregon in the rain (it rains their almost everyday that is why it is so green), snow and had fun and I do not have any weather gear. The looks people give you are worth the hassel of the rain besides most summer rain storms pass in an hour or so and overpasses are great places to take a break when caught out in the rain. Make sure you take your camera for the trip and use it. I know that sounds funny but I can not tell you how many times I have been out driving and forgot to either take the camera or just did not get it out and use it and have regreated the fact that I forgot about the camera. Have fun with your new ride.

Hi scudracer, The best way to make templates is to make them on your car using craft paper or some type of heavy paper as templates for someone else’s car might not fit your at all. All most all the original Sevens and I would suspect that a large number of the Caterhams and Westfields have the skins hand fitted due to little differences from frame to frame.

Is it possible to have a long term "relationship" with a 7?
MHKflyer52 replied to Kitcat's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I would have to say that we due have long term relationships with our little cars. My first ride and drive of a Seven was in the summer of 1968 in Collage Station Tx which gave me the bug but life, family and money kept me from owning one until I built my my car in 2005. The Seven that I drove back then still belongs to the same individual who I have been friends with since then. -
Jef, I love the sound of your car. Made my day just watching the video and listing to it. Who was the lucky passanger.... VERY COOL!!!!

I spoted this car in a used car lot in SoCal on the Pearblossom HWY when heading to Las Vegas on friday night. On Saturday I stopped on the way back to look at it and was told that they think it is a 1935 Opel but they (the guy at the used car lot) was not sure. As you can see it has VW turn signals on the front fenders which are steel as is the rest of the body. On the backside it has an MG license plate holder and the tail lamps look to be from an old car or truck. This car is not much bigger than a seven in length and seemed to be even narrower than a seven. The car to the left of it in one of the photos is a Jensen Healey which was about five feet from this car. I estiamate that the car is 9ft long and maybe 36 to 40 inches across the dash, Doors looked to be about 14 inches tall and maybe 18 inches long. The fuel tank is behind the dash and looked to be about 2ft long and mabe 8 inchs deep more of an oval from what I could see. The guy at the lot would not let me look at the engine or trunk but he did say that it dose run all though I would not bet on it from the looks. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/723934889_0428071655.jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/785873856_0428071656.jpg The chain link fence next to the car is only six feet tall as the end post was just a little shorter than I am tall and I stand 6 ft 2 1/2 inches tall if that helps put a prospective as to the size of the car. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/840267126_0428071656a.jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/2098526227_0428071656b.jpg

This documentary was posted on the Locost_Noth_America site by one of the members (Greg Wellwood of Kelowna BC Canada) who has built his Locost 7. I think a lot of the members of this group will enjoy it also. One word though if you are not on a broadband conection it will take a while to down load as it is about 700mb and plays for just over 55 min's. Enjoy. http://domestic1.sjc.ox.ac.uk/~jn/caterham-bbc4-documentary.mpg

Al, I run 20psi on the front and 22psi in the rear on my car. I find that those pressures work very well and keep the contact patch of the tires very even. One way to check that is to rub some chalk across the tread and onto the sidewall then go drive the car. You want to see that the chalk is gone on the tread and just a little of the sidewall close to the tread from when you make a turn showing that the tire is flexing some but not rolling over onto the sidewall area. Hope this helps get your pressure correct.

That is a hoot. You have some good friends their and a video that you will always have a good laugh at in years to come.

Hi Stan, You might want to contact www.kineticvehicles.com as Jack makes some fenders for the Locost comunity and they are what you might be looking for. Jacks e-mail address is jack@kineticvehicles.com and you need to put the initials at the end of the subjet line KV or your e-mail will not get processed due to the amount of spam that his site recives.
