7-7-7 Group Photo Exercise & Question...
MHKflyer52 replied to Al N.'s topic in General Sevens Discussion
Al, Now that is one nice looking group of 7's and boarder edging. Might you also make a shadow outline of the cars with a number on each that collates to the owners name, make an year -
Thanks Ed.

Just once around the circle in front of Mazda's house is all it would take I would suspect. -
Good to know information. Thanks.

Today I was invited by a friend to look at some old cars which belong to his father and have been in storage for a long time of which there are a couple of Lotus Europe’s and what the I was told is a car that looks like mine but he was not sure it is like my 7 so I decided to go and look at what his dad had in storage. Here is what I found and was wondering if anyone can tell me anything about this 7 and what it might be worth as it has a placard that says it is a Lotus Serial Number SB 2077 Cheshart Hertfordshire England but not what model it is. It is a right hand drive with a dual cam Lotus engine. My friends dad said that he had forgotten that it was in the back of the storage garage until his son saw my car and was telling him about it. He thinks that it was parked were it sits today in the early 70’s and is not to sure if it ran art that time. The amassing thing is the tires are still holding air but I think if you were to move the car they would go flat as they are very dry rotted looking and lots of cracks in the side walls. The shocks have lost all their fluid and the springs have collapsed but it looks to be all their. We did find the hood up on a shelf but it dose not seem to fit and is made from galvanized tin not aluminum which I found to be odd but understandable. It has solid steel rims with hubcaps and little tires compared to the tires of today (I think they are 165X4.5X13’s and the spare looks to even be smaller). My friend dad tells me he took the little car as he calls it in trade but dose not remember what the trade was for as it was a long time ago but thinks it was for a sail boat (good trade I think). After sitting in it which meant that I had to help move a lot of stuff from on top of it just to get to it and by the way there is a Formula Ford in their also under a bunch of stuff, from what I can see the 7 feels smaller than a Caterham or Westfield or my Locost build so I am wondering if it is an early MK I or what as the owner really dose not know what it is besides a Lotus 7 and the paperwork that I saw which was an old registration says it is a Lotus last registered in 1968 but the owner is not sure if it is for that car or one of the others stashed in the storage garage. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1518909561_DSCN2172.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/21101942_DSCN2174.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1195616961_DSCN2173.JPG

That is so extreme and those guys really know how to ride. I would like to see that course to see how the ramps were constructed and to talk to the builders as that is the real feat in my belief as someone had to think it all out and then build it. I wounder who was the first person to run that trail.

Man that is wild and I would be willing to say one hell of a ride. Could you see your self coming up that road and seeing him going the otherway, he would just be a blur in that outfit being so low to the ground.

Hi Al and All, I see what you mean by the rightside fits to the screen as the computer I am using this am only has a 17" screen and it (the banner) fits the screen better and dose not look streched out. I guess the large gray area on the right of the banner is just one of those things that happens with a large 22" screen an I can live with that.
-
Hello all, Well I was surprised to see a new web site banner today. I am not sure if I like it as much as the old one as of yet. I do like the USA7s.org a marque-inclusive site for owners & enthusiasts. It just seems to need something on the right side maybe a front view of a seven or something to that affect. Well I guess I will get use to it but the original did let you know you arrived at the USA7s site with just a glance. Just my opinion.

Ultimate Track Car Challenge
MHKflyer52 replied to WestTexasS2K's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Jeff, That was outstanding and you should be very proud. You can say that you built your car from scratch in your garage and I would be willing to bet that not many of the other racers can say that and if they can I would be willing to bet that their budget was much much greater than yours. From what I could see the cars that were on the track the same time you were, were some very high end professionally race prepped autos and you were able to hold your own with them which is very impressive in it's self. Again very outstanding and a good showing. -
As a Private Pilot who has been flying for over 40yrs now I would have to agree with slngsht I would also think the NEWS MEDIA would be smart enought to know that their coverage just adds fuel to the fire in that situation as it seems to promote that 15min's of fame that some people seek but that is the NEWS MEDIA and I do not belive that they think when it comes to sensationalism and ratings. If I were the Poilce Chief I would be looking at charging the NEWS STATIONS that were involved in the chase reporting (not just the two that collided with each other) with involentary man slaughter and public endangerment on the bases of being reckless (stupid). This is just my oppion and I feel bad for the families of those that lost their lives in this event but it should have never happened in the first place. By the way in Oregon the news media is not allowed to overfly any area that is involved with anything like that as it gives the should I say criminal the ability to watch a TV and see what is happening or causes a tragity like the downing of two helo's and their crews. Just poor news media actions and very poor piloting.

That photo is great. Probably works better than the bluetooh thing I have.

AAAAAAAAHHH The GA DMV makes me crazy!

I would leave the windshield in place but take your helmet and face shield or goggles with you in the passenger seat. If you drive up with it on you might arouse some question as to why you would need a helmet and face shield and from what you have said the inspection guy has already seen the car and has basically told you that it looks like it meets all of the requirements. Just make sure you have the correct amount of cash in your pocket and also make sure you have enough ones (1) to be able to pay the inspector the required amount without having him have to make change. Seems that you have already paid him for the inspection and he just wants the paper work to finish it. Oh and do not offer any facts unless asked and then be a little cagy with respect and humbleness. An example “Inspector asks about the windshield and the lack of wipers” Your reply should be something like “ It is the way I bought it and it was legal in Florida and some models of this type car do not even have a windshield let alone wipers.” Do you get my drift, just don’t divulge to much information or knowledge that your windshield might not meet the code for the state. I do not have wipers on my car and I am in Calif and I though I would have a heck of a time getting my car licensed here but it just took about a half hour and I was in an out without any problems as it seemed they just wanted the paperwork to match and the vin checked and the money. Have Calif. Title and registration and plates now on the car. Rember to keep smilling even if you have to jump through a hoop or two as in the end it is worth it all. Tell us about your trip when you get the time. -
Hello Skip an locost7018, I have E-Track in my trailer and it runs FWD an AFT on the floor and is anchored into the frame plus the flooring. I tie down my car using a cross pattern, left rear to right rear E-Track and right rear to left rear E-TrackAnd the front is done the same but opposite of the rear as this helps keep the car from moving forward and aft and side to side. My tie downs hook directly into the E-Track and I have some short straps that let me hook a D-Ring into the track so I can tie down objects with straps that do not hook directly into the E-Track. When I saw some of the photos with the e-Track going sideways I just figured that they (the owners) wanted them that way. You just need to remember that your straps are only as strong as their attachment points ans that those attachment points are not loaded the wrong way as with E-Track it is designed to take the pull down is lenght and not sideways unless you have special attachment hooks that are designed for that loading. I also have wheel chocks that I place in front and behind each wheel to help.

I know that you have one big smile. Way to go.

Maybe you should let your neighbor drive Franklin 7 around that nice skid pad...It even has a bench for spectators and shade....how cool is that.

Hello All, Well I attended the 17th Annual Ventura County British Car Show put on by the Central Coast British Car Club and had a blast. Their were a total of four 7’s that showed up, a Westfield (cream colored and very nice), a Caterham (british racing green with school bus yellow nose ring and hood stripe)(really sharp), my car and a Lotus MK VI built in 1952 owned by Walter J. Okon (an off yellow color with black and white numbers plus pin striping)(lots of louvers..everyware). Walters’s car has a real history to it and he still drives it when ever he can. I wish I had had a tape recorder when Walter was telling us about his car. Very interesting to say the least both the conversation and the car. It was very interesting to watch the people come by and look and point and take photos of the four 7 type cars. I have to say that the Caterham and Westfield are both very nice vehicles and sure make my car look odd but I still like my car for what it is over the Caterham and the Westfield as I think I would not be as adventurous with either of them. I will post some photos of the four cars as soon as I figure out why I can not upload photos at this time. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1338135551_img1.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1967329770_img2.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/983434740_DSCN2150.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1600356710_DSCN2160.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1589459552_DSCN2149.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/157448910_DSCN2147.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1649788562_DSCN2148.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/741953048_DSCN2145.JPG

I know this is not politically correct but what the hay. The one in the middles eyes look as if she (an assumption here) is thinking... Can I out run these two on my sides to get away from these fools ... Check out the mitts and what shoes you can see if they are shoes I would be very suspicious. I know I am bad for thinking that way but it is the 21st century and they are still thinking that they are in 7th BC when it comes to personnel rights.

The driver of that 7 really knows the car and the track. Very nice driving even with other traffic. Very impressive.

Lowflyer is correct in some states do not allow for head phones to be worn in passenger cars so check with your local PD to find out first about the legality. I know California frowns on it and so dose Oregon for passenger cars. If you look at most of the fire trucks you see the crews all ware two way intercoms so that they can all communicate for safety while going to a fire as they brief the structure / response and they are all looking for the driver / pedestrian that is not paying attention.

Nice looking Locost. I think you found a gem of a car. Make sure you have some ear plugs and some type of sunglasses if you don't ware a helmet and sun screen. Check oil, water tire presures and have a great trip. Maybe a chunk of foam to use as padding as the Kirkly seats can get hard after a couple hours of driving. From what I have seen in the photos if it looks as nice as the photos you should not have any problems. NICE CAR you found for a great price. Martin Keller Ventura, Ca.

I fell sorry for the young guy but take a close look at the kid, racing gloves, t-shirt with # 1 in a racing stripe, helmet cam a definite want-a-be race car driver with no real experience in that car as one would not have that happen if he knew the car or the track. First mistake I see is he lifted off the gas before he clipped / hit the rumble strips on the left then accelerated and lifted again just before he clipped / hit the rumble strips on the right which helped to unseat the car then lifted again if you listen to the engine which let the backend come around and he never got back on the throttle to stop the slide while turning into it. Ok you are saying how would he know this...well I have owned and raced Porsches since the early 70's (914-6, 911S, 911SC) and have been a driving instructor with the Porsche Club in the past and the 997 TURBO just dose not leave you out their if you know the car at all. I guess that is one way to learn but it sure dose hurt learning that way.

Mazda, Is that what maintenance on the fly is or how it came about. PS: Can you pm me with that photo as I would like to have a copy of it.

In what form did you acquire your SE7EN?
MHKflyer52 replied to solder_guy's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I built my car from scratch. Used the book as a guide but also took dimensions from a real seven and drew everything into AutoCAD. My build took approx 89 days over a years time frame as I did not work on it everyday but did mark a calendar everyday that I did work on the car even if it was just for and hour. I guess I would have to say it is a LOCOST BOOK BUILD but not so low-cost as the book due to the mods that I have incorporated into the car.
