  1. Blessed are the Texans, for we have low taxes. I once registered a client's personal cars in Texas, because of the high California taxes. On his Suburban we saved $900 and $3,000 on the F-40. On your other point about the vagaries of which office/clerk one gets, I could not agree more. Good or bad. Patience is the most essential attribute one needs. Just leave their office, do what they wanted, and go back. Or, leave that office and go to another one. Just keep plugging away. Don't forget, while all this is going on, in Texas we can get a 30 day paper tag for like $25. There is now a limit of 3 such registrations per car in a year, but it can keep one on the road while going through the BS. By the way, Does "NVP" stand for No Viable Papers?
  2. Holy Carp! Does one chain run all the way from the trans to the diff? That's a lot of chain. Better check with the insane bikers for the bst cahin in the world. Or, is there an idler in between. Looks like fast fun.
  3. No, Rich, I want the half-hood, if it will fit an early Borkin (very series 3, dimensionally.
  4. OK, before Croc gets the big head, let's just agree that we love this thread. And what about the millions (or hundreds?) aspiring to have a Seven? If a poor ignorant soul reads the sticker on the back of my roll bar "USA7s.com", they may well go to the web site and surely this thread will be of immediate interest. Links to cheap ones, or wonderful ones like the Series 2 in Classiccars.com might be enough to sink the hook. Great educational (addictive?) value for the multitudes. Can I get an Amen?
  5. "Aside from the goofy VW taillights, this appears to be a very well sorted car." Only people of "a certain age" would catch that. A son drove one until about a year ago. Amazing how many people did NOT know anything about it. Even more amazing is that it was actually hard to find a mechanic (Glass Cars in Dallas) who knew how to work on them. Back in the day, every wrench knew them. At least those are early to mid 60s tail lights, not newer. Also German, not Lucas!!
  6. Well, I did find these humble offerings. Starting with one for those with deeper pockets than YH&OS: https://www.craigslist.org/about/best/nsh/5195301129.html OK, it's not a Seven, but too cool to not pass on. Dutton still in KS. https://kansascity.craigslist.org/cto/d/1978-dutton/6301095578.html Birken still listed in Houston: https://houston.craigslist.org/cto/d/2005-birkin-s3-not-lotus-7/6289835664.html Croc has listed this one before, with discussion about air filers. Aren't screens enough to keep rocks out? https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/d/westfield-pre-lit-lotus-7/6256940016.html Let's hope Croc gets his search thingy going again.
  7. Maybe I can beat Croc to this one. On Saturday Morning list? BAT Ztec Birkin: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2003-birkin-lotus-7-s3/?utm_source=dailymail&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2017-09-22
  8. Jeez, Louise. No one has welcomed Croc back, with his market mining. He even got up early enough to work before the GP! Good job. A whole 12 hours and no one has any pithy comments. All gone to Granny's house for the holiday?
  9. Two days left on BAT. Probably known in this group. http://bringatrailer.com/listing/2005-caterham-superlight/ http://13252-presscdn-0-94.pagely.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/599322ac4703a_IMG_1823-940x598.jpg
  10. Since our esteemed Croc O'Dial is not around, maybe you didn't see that a Westfield is ending an auction on BAT tomorrow. http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1996-westfield-spa/?utm_source=dailymail&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=2017-08-15 http://13252-presscdn-0-94.pagely.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Screen-Shot-2017-08-08-at-3.12.07-PM-940x636.png
  11. Dam (not a cuss word), you beat me again. Maybe I should not look at anything you don's post. But, where's the fun in that?
  12. Don't recall seeing this one. Red racer. https://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/cto/6177111801.html
  13. Congratulations on the new Birkin. Not to start a gang war, but I love telling people that of all the companies Caterham sued, Birkin was the only case Caterham lost. Looks great.
  14. These were manufactured inMexico. Down there, we called it a Safari. My son was gifted one by another starving musician. We cleaned it up and made it reliable (like his later bus). He then sold it for about $1500. The only thing cooler out of late air cooled Mexico was the VW Basic Truck.
  15. Since Croc is other-wise occupied this weekend, I have one that I don't recall seeing here before. https://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/cto/6155194142.html
  16. It doesn't get much better than Monaco in the morning, and Croc's excellent work to get through the yellows and commercials of the 500. Thanks. Of course, now I'm wondering what it would cost to do aluminum fenders and nose. Thanks again, Mark
  17. NOT! But this baby is so cool: http://bringatrailer.com/listing/2012-beauchamp-7-58th-scale-lotus-7-series-2-replica/ Cannot compared to scannon's mine 7, but both are so nice, just give it to a kid.
  18. Awesome trailer. If I ever grow up, I want one1
  19. nice looking car. I am so jealous.
  20. Birkin in Austin, but with California SBwhatever. https://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/cto/6123636915.html
  21. Re: Mecum has a RHD crossflow Westfield for next week's Indy auction https://www.mecum.com/lots/SC0517-30...field-super-7/ A 1988 RHD Caterham for $18000 - thats as cheap as they get ever https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/6061541346.html For anyone really shopping, fear not the RHD. No big deal.
  22. "When did CMC go out of business?" Someone here should know. Or over at LocostUSA. It has been long enough that they have disappeared from the InterNet thing.
  23. Ref: https://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/cto/6109566539.html It occurs to me that if CMC had made as many kits as I have seen for sale, they would still be in business. And a couple hundred pounds lighter than a Series 1 Lotus! No offensive.
  24. I bow to the wisdom of the Croc. I think I'll spring form the Avon ZZSs. I'll also keep the board posted on their suitability for the street for the next 2 years. I was just looking for an excuse to spend more. I shall inform "She of the Purse Strings" that it was Your fault I spent more. "On good advise..."
