  1. That looks like fun.
  2. John I have built 4 Ultralites over the years and tell you for a fact yours is different than all the S2k models I have seen. Yours appears to be a hybrid of the S2k body and Xr7 chassis components. That being said I'm glad you are getting it set up to your liking. I've raced my Ultralites for over 9 years and have pretty good success with them. In all types of venues Auto X, Road Racing, drag racing, touring and One lap of America 3 times and thousands of road miles covered too. It took a few adjustments to get it dialed in. The biggest improvement I feel was upgrading the shocks to a set of Advanced Racing shocks. The ride is much smoother and has much improved over the QA1 units that come with the kits. The QA1 units can be revalved for better results but its much easier to turn a knob on the Advanced Racing units. John curious what tire pressures you are running on your car? I have found tire pressures can really make huge difference in handeling characteristics. It can vary from brand to brand as well.
  3. This power steering works fantastic and cost under a 1k. If you order it from John Meyers. He ran it on his car and Chuck Spera runs it on his and they love the feedback and responsiveness of the unit. It is pretty easy to retrofit and runs on a 12v circuit. http://www.unisteer.com/ It important for other Ultralite owners to realize the front suspension on Johns car is one of the later model units Brian built and it has much different spindles, control arms, inboard shocks and different steering arm locations. So even though John has done good home work to correct the issues he was having doesn't mean that you should all go cutting up your cars to move the steering rack. I would recommend checking your bumpsteer and most of it can be corrected with height adjustment of the tie rod loction on the spindle if you need to. Running 6 degrees of caster will keep the car tracking straight and true. This will provide a heavier steering feel and more effort at low speed to turn. This can easily be corrected with the electric unit listed above. I can easily turn lock to lock with 12" wide racing slicks standing still with one finger. I will be putting one on my new personal car.

    RIP Dad

Sorry to hear of your dad. Its tough, I lost my dad when he was 52 to cancer. It takes awhile to get over someone you love and respect.
  5. My local ACE hardware carries them.
  6. They look great on the stalker. The fenders can easily be cut flush with an air saw.
  7. Those wheels are realy cool. Who makes them?
  8. Has anyon else seen this. 16 Trillion in bailouts is way more than we are being told. This happened from late 2007-2011. Blame who you want but we wont last long if this is true. http://www.unelected.org/audit-of-the-federal-reserve-reveals-16-trillion-in-secret-bailouts
  9. Depends on your relationship with your bank. My banker would loan it to me. But we have a solid 15 year history. I don't think you are going walk in to Bank Of America and get one with a loan officer you have no history with.
  10. Man those were really cool
  11. Done it several times with no issues.
  12. I have customer with a nice Ultralite in Austin. Or does need to be a Caterham?
  13. A RCR car. Fran builds great cars. They are well engineered. I've lusted after one of those myself.
  14. I always like that color combo. Good luck with the sale.
  15. Man that took forever. Glad it's over with now you can go out and play.
  16. Here is a good solution IMHO. http://www.intengineering.com/integrated-engineering-billet-surge-tank-submerged-044-pump.html
  17. Yes I've used those. They blew my supercharged engine the first few laps on the track from fuel. You better off with a remote sump. I found a good one that I posted here before. I'll have to look it up and repost. It's the best solution I've seen off the shelf. A bit pricey but it's excellent quality and cheaper than a damaged engine.
  18. Congrats on the sale Hank. I'd be scared of damaging a expensive somewhat limited production car. From everything I've read about them they are excellent track cars. I'm sure it's a hoot in a straight line too. A top and AC are a nice option on occasions. The new ZL1 Camaro are nice too.
  19. You know heat was about to drop doing all that work in a full race suit and helmet. Two ours of that is a valiant effort.
  20. Wow glad he wasn't in a 7.
  21. Great to hear where did they find it? Did they catch the dirt bag? Or did it get dumped?

  23. This a bad day. http://www.siltfenceplow.com/fun_stuff/funstuff1.html
  24. Shocks that come with the car are entry level units. A set of good adjustable shocks make a big difference. I like Advanced Racing Suspension but there are others. I think your rear springs seem a bit stiff. If you are experiencing oversteer try droping your spring rate 25lbs. Experiment with tire pressures too. For alignment on the front I like 1.2-1.5 degrees of Camber same for the rear. This can vary with type of tire you are running most radial construction tires run well in this range. Check and make sure you are not getting bump steer in the rear. If the rear bump steer bar is out of adjustment you can get some rear steering with the body roll. I prefer mine mounted in the upper bracket or just about that point. If you have it located on the bolt with locking collars that the car originally came with then you might be having toe change in the rear. There is no one set up that is best. It can change from track to track, driving styles, tires and the whole host of variables. There are numerous books on tuning the suspension and even a few quick refrence guides to help you sort these issues out. What works for me doesnt mean you will like it. I prefer the rear of my car a little loose and tend to drive a little more with throttle than just the steering wheel.
  25. Wow sorry to hear this.
