  1. I've purchased several orders of the Cenpeco diesel oil but shipping gets pretty high. I need smaller amounts for the Ultralite. I will give it a try. Thanks.
  2. Blaine what's the best oil to use now with good ZDDP levels. I'm still using diesel engine oil input of my stuff.
  3. Yes it is still looking good. Last time we talked to fuel safe they said their liners wouldn't work with E85. That's been a few years ago hopefully they developed something by now with the increase in use of Ethanol in the performance industry.
  4. We had a few ethanol free pumps here but they have all now changed to blends. I've been buying VP racings SEF fuel for my equipment for winter storage, but at 70.00 dollars for 5 gal I don't use more than I have to.
  5. If you have an older car with rubber fuel lines carbs with rubber seals and mechanical fuel pump with a rubber diaghram you will have issus. Another point was if you have a car sit for periods of a few months say winter storage. Phase separation will occur and your car will run badly. More modern cars with fuel Injection deal with it much better. When we first built Kevin's car E 85 was fairly new not a lot of data available so employed all the pure alcohol systems.
  6. I always thought one of those with a hyabusa engine would be a fun ride.
  7. Yeah I've heard that. It's a shame some had a bad experience. I think he just got in a bind at times and couldn't deliver as promisised. So that is something I'm going have to overcome. Biggest difference between Brian and I is I have other jobs for income. I dont have to sell cars to make a living, its a hobby business for me. I just didn't want to see the brand disappear. It's a fun car and a joy to drive I wanted to preserve it if could.
  8. Here are a few more pictures of my black car going up for sale. Every part on the Ultralite is sourced in the US. Most can be picked up at the local Napa or Oriellys. About the only exception is brake pads which are Wilwood units. With Wilwood you can choose your friction compound from mild to wild and they are a day shipment away from Jegs or your favorite parts supplier. Only thing not off the self is lower control arm and one piece of the upper control arm. Everything else is off the self. Just so you know.
  9. I agree ride and drive as many makes as you can. Construction can vary widely as well with all makes Ultralites included. Before you pay take a few trips and experience the cars themselves. I've seen and ridden in most makes and they all have their pros and cons. I think the overall look is quite different between makes. Caterham and Birkins are very similar in size and shape. Stalker you sit a little further back in the car. The back of the car from the rear bulkhead to rear panel is about 12". On the Ultralite it's about 24". Stalker you sit more behind the engine. The footwells are about even with rear of the engine. Caterham and Birkins are similar the engine sits In front of the footwells. In the Ultralite the foot wells extend a bit past the engine so you sit more around the engine in comparison to other makes. Another thing you might notice is overall hood shape and rear width. The nose on the Ultralite is wider and shorter than other makes it has more of a wedge shape. The back of the Ultralite is 6' wide from fender edge to fender edge which 4-6" wider than most other makes. There is a bit of a love hate relationship towards our car some folks love the look others hate it so personal styling taste does factor in. The look is what drew me to the Ultralite a test ride sold me. I'm sure every owner of any make represented here will agree the fun factor of any of these makes or models is hard to beat.
  10. There was a turbo Miata Ultralite that was done the owner has put a ton of money into it tring to get it running right and he keeps having cooling issues and some other engine problems. He is regretting not using the S2000 engine.
  11. My black car has around 4k miles on it. It was built in 2004 bit it was titled in 2010 The car was partially built by Brian the previous owner of WCM and was finished by the customer. I purchased it back from the original owner. He had bought and used it strictly for a track car. He claimed he just couldn't get it to handle and bought a corvette. I bought it back and checked the alignment the wheels were pointing every direction except straight. 1 hour on the alignment rack and 99.00 dollars later it drives like it is rails. I've done a few track DE weekends with it did some touring in Smokies with the Stalker group and I have been running around town in it since May. It drives great runs great no known issues. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. The only thing I would change is the interior carpet. It had cheap black carpet. I would remove and replace it with Alcantara. The dash needs to be recovered the glue let loose. So you have a few items you can spend time making your own. Mechanically and cosmetically it's good to go.
  12. Here are a few pics I have of the car. I dont have alot readily available because I wasnt planning on selling till the end of the month. I can take some more over the weekend once I get it cleaned up. This Ultralite also has a huge trunk. 48x16x18 so plenty of storage for your luggage if want to do some touring with it. Most are amazed at the size of the cargo area. I think they are bigger than all other makes by a large margin. It also has a 11 gallon fuel cell. This car has 17x8.5 Oz Racing Ultraleggera wheels and Nitto NT01 tires. There is about 600 miles on the wheels and tires. It also has the front fenders they just weren't installed in this picture. I have had several Stalker owners drive my Ultralite and they have commented that the Ultralite has a little more room than the Stalker, but they are very close to the same. black ultralite.bmp
  13. I do have a nice used Ultralite going up for sale soon. I just has fresh paint. New wheels and tires. Runs like new. Only thing it needs is some interior carpet replaced. It will be going up for sale at 22900.00. You can't come close to building one for that price. I can attach photos when I get home if your interested can't do it from my phone.
  14. I have an Ultralite kits give me a call 325 650 7049. The Ultralite driver seat is 16.5 inches some folks actually have to install narrower seats. Passenger side is 14.5. I have had 6'5" 260 lb people drive my car with no issues.
  15. You could also build an Ultralite.
  16. This one is better.
  17. one of my favorite You Tube videos It makes me laugh so hard I cry. http://youtu.be/Arom_B0thTI
  18. Happy New Years! May your 2012 be filled with sticky rubber and hi reving engines that just consume gasoline.
  19. This one I'm looking at. http://sanantonio.craigslist.org/cto/2739523690.html I'm not a huge fan of the yellow. If it were red, green or silver I would be one it.
  20. LSX would be my first choice but cost is a factor even for used engines by the time you do a wiring harness and ecu. Its at least a 5k with a used engine, 10k with a new one.
  21. Im looking at a few cars that have already had the conversions done. One is a SBC and it looks really good and there are a few Subi conversions I have my eye on. I have looked at the cost of doing a conversion multiple times over the last ten years, but it always cost more than you can get out of the car when done. It seems you can get a pretty nicely done converted car with a few of the major upgrades ie 5 lug conversion and the BMW 320i brake conversion done for around 10-12k range. It looks like if you are careful with your purchase I should be able to drive it for a few years and sell and get most of my money out of it. Otherwise if you start with a clean car and convert it you will run closer to 18-20k range which you will never recoupe. Maybe a clean stock car might be the ticket but the urge for more power is hard for my resist. Its just my nature. I always leaned to the odd stuff over the years. So why change now?
  22. Any Porsche 914 owners or previous owners here? If so how do the 914's handle in comparison to a 7? I have always loved the look of the 914-6 and have been drooling heavily for one lately. I cant afford an orignal six but there are alot of look alikes out there. I have never driven one. I am pretty familiar with the rust issues but in Texas there are some rust free cars around. I was just looking for a little feedback by previous owners how the two types of cars compare. I would most likely would do an engine conversion to a LS Chevy V8 or the S2000 engine. Kennedy makes an adapter for the F20c. I think it would be great engine for the car with good power increase and it would have little to no weight gain. The lower torque Honda would be easier on the transmission. Any thoughts?
  23. What brand of CNC is that?
  24. Well that wasn't easy to figure out.
  25. Sorry I didn't have an ecu with the chip in it to take a photo of.
