I was working in Thule Greenland when the Key Bird rescue was being attempted. I heard people talking about it at around the base, but I never meet any of the crew working on it. They would ferry parts from the base to the crash site. Several years later I saw the documentary about the rescue attempt. That had to be a heart breaking moment for that crew.

I've been away for a few days and just seeing this. So sorry to here about your accident. I'm very happy everyone is doing ok. We will pray for a quick recovery. Hang in there.

Thats amazing. I would of thought that plane was doomed to a icy grave. I would have never guessed they could get it out ever much less in 44 days. That is talented group of folks there.

I say stick around and give us a comparison write up of the differences in AA vs 7 life.

Me too.

I have used that unit on several cars and it works good.

Dingo I looked at the PPG gears today. It looks like 6 grand plus labor to rebuild. I like the idea of a stock 6 th for cruising and reduced noise. I wasn't clear on what a dog box is. I think you just do clutch less up shifts but it needs a clutch to down shift. Maybe someone can clarify that for me.

Thanks Yellow. The stock Honda transmission is great. It's quiet and shifts smoothly problem for me is gearing isn't optimal for me. First is useless unless you climbing a 45 deg ramp. Another issue with the stock Trans is 2-3 shift doesn't like power shifting you have to slow you shift down a bit for it bangs the synchro. I think it would be sick on the track, but the price tag is a little scary. Especially if it doesn't hold up for the long haul.

I am looking at the possibility of going with a sequential transmission for my new engine. I was looking for some feedback from other users. I have never had a sequential transmission before. I plan on using it for street and track. I have a few concerns about the noise from the straight cut gears. I wouldn't think it would be a big issue with our cars since the wind noise is always present. I am curious as to the drivability of them on the street? What type of flat shift system are you using?

On Track and 'Suddenly' On Fire!

I was looking at few systems today. I found this ( http://jogrusa.com/products/blazecut-fire-suppression-system ) they look like something that could be mounted in the fuel cell area. They don't take up much room and are affordable. Could be an option. Here is a video in action -

I'm concerned with the effectiveness of an AFFF system in a car enviroment. AFFF stands for Aquis Film Forming Foam which is usually used on fuel spills. It works by forming a film over the fuel spill and supressing the vapor to extinguish the fire. It will have some cooling effect on the fire since it is water with typically 3-5% foam mixture. It might buy you a few seconds, but I would be getting out as fast as possible. -
RG I still have a chassis and driveline parts. Ill have to fab up suspension parts and brake parts. Since Ive sold or given a large majority of my parts to other owners Ill have to do some fabrication and parts chasing but Im looking forward to having a car on the road. Its been a few years.

I got a chuckle out of that one. I wonder what that dogs name is?

Jim I agree. I prefer over the diff location also for a little crumple zone. -
I'm going to plead the 5 th on that one. My wife might read this. It wasn't cheap. It never is when you are wringing out 2.6 hp per cubic inch. Many parts are low volume custom made pieces. It's not the same as building a small block Chevy. A set of pistons is 1k plus ,machine work and sleeving the block runs 2500 or so. Start adding up the pieces including throttle bodies and Haltech Ecu and two days tuning, fully built Head and so on you get the picture. I'm hoping it wil payoff in big grins.

Wow I wonder what went wrong? No collision. I heard a clunk just before the fire. I wonder if he broke a half shaft that got into the fuel cell. -
Ill have to give this a try. I have a bunch of rusty stuff to experiment on. I assume if it eats all the rust off it would be a iron supplement for your yard or garden. Soil microbes love molasses, I spread tons of dried molasses on my customers yards over the years after a compost applications for carb boost for the microbes. It smells good too.

Chuck Spera sold his car to a guy in Waco Tx. last year. He still has XR7 model to autox but no pass seat. -
C38-92 would get me close to 500. It will take awhile before I get to the point that I need more power.

Engine was built my Endyn http://www.theoldone.com is his website. He has a long racing history and has worked with Nascar, Indy car and currently doing cylinder heads for Nissan for the Australian supercar series. They are the reason my build to took so long. He also works directly with Honda engineering for many years developing prototype projects for them. My engine has Darton steel sleeved block, knife edged Honda crank, Endyn custom pistons and rods. All ARP fasteners and head studs. The cylinder heads are ported polished and with reshaped combustion chambers, titanium valve train parts, custom ground cams and then the TMW shaftless throttle bodies to top it all off.

The supercharger is waaaaay cheaper on a stock motor. That being said the engine has the best parts that can be put into a motor. It was built by IMO one of the best engine builders in the country. So if an when I decide to breath on it a bit it will hold up. I would really like to keep it simple and as light as possible. So the SC isn't a certainty but an option.

Xcarguy I know its not v8 torque where you leave it in 3rd gear and putt around the track at 160 mph passing everyone on their 20 min cool down session. Those of us with engine bay to small to swallow a v8 have to do all we can to stay on the same lap as you Storker owners. Id be happy to take those light weight fenders off your hands if you would like.

I looked at the Sadev it is a little more expensive and it doesn't have the torque capacity of the Elite in case I bump the power up in the future. Elite also makes a bell housing for the Honda that works with a stock style clutch. I just have to upgrade the pressure plate and disc a much cheaper option compared to the multi stage clutches. I do have seat time in a more powerful Ultralite so this will be a step down power wise. Its been a few years without a car so I need to ease back into it.

Damn are my intentions that transparent?
