That was the first Ultralite I ever sat in. I really like the color combo on that car.

I dont know if huffing Jet A is my favorite thing but it could be his.

who owns Steven Davies old Ultralite?

The engine management and tuning took no know-how. It just took a pocket full of money and Kenny Tran to tune it. Kevin was there for 12 hours over 2 days. Luckily Kenny likes us and cut us a break on the tune but it was still pretty heafty bill. He did two fuel maps one for gasoline and one for E85. We are running two boost levels too. So we just flip a swith when we are running on gasoline and the ecu flips fuel maps and the boost controller changes boost level.

Locost V8 I was pretty pleases with the lizard skin. It sealed the compartment and reduced hot air flowing thru cracks and seems in the aluminum. It seems to be as effective in reducing the heat as the 1" aircraft insulation that I had installed in my car. Overall I would rate it as a good product. I think maybe combining it with some type of thin light weight foil type insulation with the lizard over the top would be very effective. Jerry. Mojito is pretty much stock 2.2 L engine. We installed the plastic intake insulator gasket and upgraded valve springs and put ARP head studs in it. We are using a Rotrex supercharger which is basicly a belt driver turbo compressor. It is very compact, quite and very effecient. We upgraded to a larger fuel rail and 1000 cc injectors for the increased fuel flow with the E85 also upgraded the fuel regulator to handle the additional flow. We also had to install a stronger clutch and pressure plate to handle the extra power. We are running an STI differential which is an R180 unit with 3.90 gears beefier axles and hubs too. We are using HKS Pro V ecu to control fuel/timing. The 3 o2 sensors are the stock Honda primary, a/f ratio gauge, AF knock amp for the HKS. Other than that its pretty much straight from the junk yard. Stock head/crank/rods/cams/pistons. I did build a 4-2-1 header but not sure if helped or hurt performance. With 381 at the wheels I guess it is working ok. It is nice to have just the single 3" instead of the slip collector that seems to want to leak a little.

Man sweet Z I am a former Z finatic and having a sever itching for another one. LS6 is got to be alot of fun in a 240. I have had multiple v8 conversion Z before. The last one was 76 with a 396 BBC. It is pretty well known on the hybrid Z site. It is owned by Corzette now. I sold it to pay for my 1st Ultralite. I have an Ultralite that is turnkey runner that is for sale. It needs to be repainted, it has a few rock chips bumps and bruises but is a good runner. Has a pretty significant history. Most people know it as Mojo we used it to run the 1 Lap for a few years and do some promotional tours. I will be taking some fresh pictures on Sat for a guy in HOuston but could send you some if you might be interested. Pm me an email and I will send you price and details on the car. Post some pics of your Z in the Off Topic or Members ride area. I would love to see it. Are you running R230 or C4? Six or Auto? http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1534539584_z.jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/984985772_z side.jpg

jbanker I defenitely intend on attending R&G 08. I hopefully will have Mojitos not so twin/twin there if I can get it finished in time. Kevin is hoping to bring Mojito as well, but he has the fireball run the previous week. It is going to be very tight but he is planning on attending. Hopefully there will be good attendance with the fuel prices and the economy being in the tank. I really look forward to seeing everyone and looking at the cars. I am going to have to take some driving lessons from Dennis this year. He seems to be running a different line than I was and he was defenitely hauling some serious ass last year. Do you know if John Meyer is attending? Those two guys are the cars to beat. They are wicked fast. They were 4-5 seconds a lap faster than me 2 years ago. I was really was hoping to get close to them last year with the supercharger on before fuel starvation got my motor before the weekend ever got started. I am sure they will be stepping it up a notch again this year. They seem to find ways to shave seconds off every year. I bet Dennis is going to be in the 1.02 range this year. That is going to be a tough time to beat. Hope we can see ya there in Oct.

it will take them a few weeks to get the web page updated with the new cars.

Michelle spent hours mapping out fuel stop locations. We mounted a 50 gal fuel cell in the trailer as well. So when fully loaded they had 64 gallons on board(this was transferable on the fly to minimize stops). This allowed enough range to make it to the next stop. The 2 places that fuel stops couldnt be found LA and VA. Kevin had 50 gal drums of fuel shipped to the race track so they could load up. It was alot of work to get the car not to only run on E85 but alot of extra work to run the car on E85 during the 1 Lap. Usually there are 2 of 3 diesel cars that are entered. There was supposed to be another E85 car entered but he didnt show for some reason. Some guys choose to not to pull trailers. But they have alot more storage room in thier cars than what is available in a 7. But alot of guys do pull trailers. The guys that do not pull trailers usually end up bumming parts and tools and supplies from the ones who do. Mark Davia the man that has won it the last 5 years broke down Iowa. Kevin and Michelle stopped and helped them get the car going. They had very few tools and no light and it was getting dark out. If Kevin hadnt have stopped he might have not gotten it fixed in time to make it to the next event. But that is the way the race goes everyone helps everyone out. That is part of the fun.

Bob it wasnt the fuel pump like they had thought. They just noticed spray on the back of the car and thought it was the fuel pump. The problem was traced to the crank vent tube. It appears that the check valve on the manifold that closes under boost is sticking and pressurized the block blowing the dip stick out and blowing oil down the vent tube. Car looks to be ok and with all the high reving over with just 5 or 6 hours of highway cruising and skid pad. They have 3 rd fairly secure. Just need to make it to Southbend and around a circle 6 times in decent time to hang on. 2nd seems to be out of reach unless 2 front runners run into some kind of trouble but we dont want that to happen. I think this is one of the highest finished ever for a kit car. So congrats are in order for the Organic Racing Teams success. Thanks for everyones support escpecially Brian & Jerri Anderson, Chuck Spera and Barb, and all those who came to the track and cheered the team on. Hope that we made the 7s community proud as we as a team are. It was alot of hard work and worth every minute of it. :)

Good news to report Kevin got 3 in 1 and 2nd sessions at Beaver Run. When I talked to Michelle they had already run the autocross and he was currently 2nd. Most of the top 20 cars had already run so he should keep second unless there is a real good autocross car and driver not in the top 20. We should have a decent margin ahead of forth so a decent finish on the skid pad should keep us in third. A mistake by top 2 teams could bump him up. Bad news the new fuel pump seal installed yesterday is leaking again today. No bad but leaking still isnt good news. Hope they can make the transit drive with out much trouble.
-
Southwind that was going to be my suggestion. I would check the water pump. I have seen impellers come completely off the shaft. If you can pull the pump and look at it.

They are running great. Out of the top 10 cars 7evin was the fastest in the wet at VIR 1 and 2. 7s are not suppose to be fast in the wet. Acutually in the second session he caught the Autowerks BMW on the second lap and the ass wouldnt let him pass for 3/4 of a lap costing some precious seconds and points. Bev run is going to be a good track for us if it stays dry so lets hope.
-
7evin is still 8th overall after Carolina Motorsports Park. Scores are not in for the BMW performance driving center. He felt that he did well. On the way to VIR tonight.

Slngsht the Skyline is moving along pretty well. For a bone stock factory car it is performing very very well. He is usually in the top 5. So the hype seems to be pretty accurate. Drag times do seem low. 7evin says he had very hard time hooking up. He was launching in 2nd gear and he said he had wheel spin for the first 100' he just couldnt get it hooked. Another reason is most of these guys are not drag racers. They ony run down the drag 1 time a year for 2 passes during 1 Lap. I think If I were driving I could have gotten a few hundreds off 7evins times but I drag race alot. 7evin hasnt made a pass down the 1/4 miles in 20 years. No matter 7evin is doing a bang up job this week. He hasnt gone off track one time and is very consistantly in top 6 or 7. I suspect with a hot dry track today at Carolina Motorsports Park a track 7evin recently drove for 3 days he will be in the top 3.

7evin at TWS in the wet. shot on my camera

Bob I know he would be looking toward seeing a friendly face. 7evin is now 8th overall. Mojito is running like a top. He took 5th in the drags and got 6 and 7 on the road coarse. some pics from TWS competition Mongoose driven by Danny Pop http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/27905891_CIMG0285.JPG Hennessey Viper http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1243539632_CIMG0287.JPG New Nissan GTR driven by Tony Swan from Car and Driver http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1922646234_CIMG0288.JPG Ford GT, Z06, M3 http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1601289018_CIMG0292.JPG Cool cars http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/119352984_CIMG0303.JPG Carolina Rod Shop entry. These guys are amazing same folks been doing it together for 21 years. They always have something interesting. This is an old Plymouth with corvette suspension. LS1 with Magnason supercharger and 6 speed. Sweet ride and very cool. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1104764184_CIMG0302.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/420176606_CIMG0300.JPG Coffin layout http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1565000167_CIMG0307.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/91025818_CIMG0308.JPG

after this morning run 7evin got 6th fastest which bumped them to 9th overall. The drags that cancelled yesterday are rescheduled today which should help us a bit. When I last talked to him he had run well in the 2nd lapping session but scores were not available yet. He could get up to 7-8th overall after today. Side note. Kevin got gravely ill yesterday in Houston. He stopped for fuel and got a sever case of Vertigo. He was unable to stand and would vomit with the slightest movement. Luckily 2 of the other 1 lap teams came back to the rescue. They let Kevin ride in their car where he could lay down and be still and one of the guys rode with Michelle in the Ultralite to LA. He was feeling better this morning after 5-6 hours sleep. Hopefully that problem wont arise again.

Just got back from TWS. It rained hard all day not best enviroment for us but 7evin still ran 17 in the morning which bumped him to 11th overall. They dont have the times posted yet from session 2. It was raining very hard on that session. The track was standing in water in multiple spots, 7evin was having alot of problems seeing because his helmet kept fogging up. He felt he gave up some precious seconds due to that. We hope and pray for dry tracks the rest of the week. I think a top 8 or 10 is very possible. There are a few fast cars are having some mechanical issues. Mark Davia the overall winner for the last 4 years is having a boost controller issues which is slowing him down. The Hennessey ACR Viper is unbeleivable fast. The driver is so smooth it looks like he isnt even trying and he is beating the second place car by as much as 20 sec. Unbeleivable. He will win hands down if the car stays together for the whole event. I have some pics will post them tommorrow.

7evin took 7th in the morning session at MAM another track that he has never driven. So that is a great finish I have not heard the results from the second session yet. MHKflyer I will take some pics at TWS of the trailer set up for ya. They dont have time to get online. I have been texting them there finishing position as they go along. I have a few supplies I need to take them tonight.

Quick update with what I know. 7evin and Doc Harmony got 37 on the wet skid pad. Which is a vast improvement for us. Last year we got 61st. Last year we did a .700 this year we moved up to .810 G pretty big improvement for us in our worst event. I cant speak for all 7s in the wet but Mojo was not great in the slick stuff. Hope for dry tracks this year. 7evin and Doc Harmony got 9th at Road America. Pretty impressive since that is the first time 7evin has ever driven the track and they were not allowed a walk around like we usually get. He has 1 warm up lap to get familiar with the track then pull to the starting line. The other 8 drivers in front of him are all professional racers and have run the track 100s of laps. So cheers for a job well done 7evin. No issues with the car that I know of. I know that they are having issues with the fuel transfer system from the trailer so they have to stop more frequently to manually switch the pump on. We bought a fuel gauge that has a transfer level system that turns on the reserve pump when it gets to half a tank then turns off when full. It has an issue and isnt working. I know he hasnt had time to troubleshoot it and wont have time until lunch break tommorrow at Mid America. Hopefully that will be the only issue to work on and they can get it resolved before leaving for Texas.

My 280z that had the big block chevy had plates that read RATSUN. There was a guy in Houston that had plate that read GTMILF. DMV didnt know that saying but pulled it when they got several complaints from other motorist.

Locost 5.0 do you still have the Manx? I have always wanted one. I had a 25 yo shell and a 65 pan behind the shop for 3 years and realized my 7s projects were more important. But when I see a Manx that is lowered and all decked out it makes me lust for one.

PM me with the info. I will forward to 7evin
