While I am on a roll, ;;What turned each of us on to a 7
WestTexasS2K replied to DB6's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Performance, bang for the buck and the ability of the car to be used in alot of different areas. Icecream getter, date car, turns alot of heads, drag race, road race and auto x. All this can be done in a 7 with a good level of success without alot of time or money. It just doesnt get much better than a 7!!!! -
I had a Mazda Protege 5 as well. It was fun to drive, but it will need some serious noise deadening if I were to drive it 80 miles per day. The road noise gave me a headace in about 30 min. It handled very well and was zippy enough if you kept your foot in it. Good news is you can probably get on in your price range. Throw 150.00 dollars of dynamat in it and it will do wonders for the echo chamber. Here is one on ebay now http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mazda-Protege-5-Blue-Sport-Wagon_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6326QQihZ016QQitemZ260288228622QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

I got this email from David Cowherd daughter. David is from Arlington Tx and is a 7 fan. He has terminal brain cancer and is undergoing treatment. I am attaching the email so that people can read it in her words. There is also some contact info that you can drop him a note of encouragment. "My name is Stacy Stansberry. I am the oldest child of David and Susan. I am writing this email on behalf of my father. I am very sad to report to you that my dad is ill. On August 14th he was diagnosed with an inoperable glioblastoma multiforme brain tumor. A very fast growing malignant cancer. The prognosis is not good, however, we are hoping and praying for the best. Dad has been fitted for a radiation "mask" to be treated here in Arlington at the Arlington Cancer Center. Our plan as of today is for Dad to go to Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina to participate in a clinical trial in which he will receive two types of medications for four months followed by radiation and chemotherapy in Arlington. Dad's tumor is on the left side of his brain and resting on the portion of the brain which controls speech, writing, and motor skills. This therefore has made it difficult for him to use the computer, and at times he has difficulty retrieving words. He knows what it is he wants to say, but sometimes it just does not come out. My mother's Alzheimer's has worsened in the last year, and has been further complicated by my Dad's illness. We have caregivers who are here during the day to help them both with household needs, meals, and errands. If anyone would like to contact my parents it would be very much appreciated. My dad truly needs the support! Our family would like to set up a blog to let everyone know about my fathers progress, we are therefore requesting everyone to send their email addresses to my husband Gary via Garystansberry@aol.com You may try to contact my dad via his email, however. it would be easier to make contact with him by mail to: 1900 McCartney Ct. Arlington, Texas 76012. Because direct contact my not be easy. Please feel free to contact myself via my home phone: 817.563.6878, or my cell phone: 817.437.1595. Any contact I receive I will give to my father."

I have seen a turbo busa powered seven run in the mid or low 9s in the quarter. Mojitio is no slouch and I think with drag radials high 10s are possible. With the higher boost 7evin will be at about 420 rwhp which should be getting after it.

Understeer, is that a common problem with these cars?
WestTexasS2K replied to chetcpo's topic in Autocrossing
Be careful comparing spring rates. Rate needed will vary widley from car to car depending on shock angle, shock location, Control arm lengths etc. If you car is pushing it can be a few things. Tire pressure can greatly affect understeer. If I run my car at 21 psi on the front it understeers badly, If I drop it to 19lbs it drives like a different car. So play with tire pressures. Does the car understeer as you accelerate thru a corner? If so you might need to increase rear spring rate. You could be getting to much transfer to the rear which unloads the front. -
Self cancelling turn signal. This is module sold on Speedway motors. It is a self cancelling turn indicator. It is very small and works perfect. It is easy to install into an existing system. Push the button for 1 sec it blinks 20 times the longer you push the button the longer it blinks. It just requires two momentary switches to work it. Another nice feature is that you push both buttons at the same time and it will turn the hazards and they will stay on until the button is pushed again. Its a real sweet set up. There are two models. One is for single filament and the other is for dual filament buld. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/p/2366,384_Hi-Tech-Turn-Signal-Module-Standard.html?itemNo=turn%20signal

When I bought my first pickup at 15 it was exactly like your daughters. Mine was originally white, I painted it red rebuilt the 350 put a stereo in and wheels on it and hit the road. The interior wasnt as nice as yours though. It had an indian blanket on it for 3 years. Then it meet a phone pole. I rebuilt it again and drove it for a year and then sold it. I sure had some good times in that truck back in the day. Got my first 3 tickets in that truck. All at the same time. Exhibition of acceleration, drag racing and no insurance card. I told the cop it wasnt me but he didnt believe the story.

This is a 5" light from PIAA that is a dual beam and puts off great light. The covers pop off. It is a black housing with black ring. It comes with relays and wiring and is simple to hook up. They perform very well. Also added benefit it they are SAE legal. Shop around and they can be found for about 300.00 a set. http://www.piaa.com/Lamps/Lamp-pages/525.html
