  1. Yeah we might have a few locost builders on our hands. They just got a Bendpac mandrel bender donated so they are set for a little locost fabrication.
  2. Me and the family ventured to San Antonio this weekend to takc a load of goodies to the Automovation program. We ended up with 2 really nice tool kits that should serve most mechanices very well. A few DA sanders complete with sanding supplies, long boards blocks etc. A folding engine hoist, engine stand, nice 2 ton racing aluminum jack. A few shop accessories like drop lights and the such. We were meet Rob Robertson there with his very sweet S2k Powered Westfield. We got a complete tour of the shop facilities. They have 5 bays that are aprox 30x50 and also a very nice break room that is the same size. See attached photos. All the guys wanted rides in the cars so Rob and I loaded them up and took for quick blast down the road. They really appreciated the tools and they were a blast to hang with. See attached photos. 3. I want one.
  4. I dont know how they do that. I get my tires warmed up just a little and it just pushes the car sides ways with the front wheels locked. They must be using a hard compound tire.
  5. Power Wagon is really cool, but the red Alfa Romeo really caught my eye. It is a nice looking car. I dont know anything about the Alfas but I know I like that body style.
  6. Someone that is inquiring about Mojo from North Carolina is emailing Brian. If the NC person will email me using the link here or use PM I will be able to talk to you more directly. Thanks Loren
  7. You should do a contest. Let everyone guess a weight whom ever is closest get a ride in the beast at the National event. I am guessing 1685 dry.
  8. New lower price 22,000.00
  9. Well not making excuses but the Atom had to be in the neighbor hood of 80k-90k fully built engine with ported head and custom cams. He had 315 race slicks on all corners. He still only beat Kevin by I believe .9 seconds. Another factor was that Kevin didnt get many really good runs due to the cracked oil pan and mount failures and ensuing repairs. I bet if he would have had one more session he could have passed the Atom. But that is racing. There is always next year.
  10. It would seem to me using the wind screen as a refrence point is silly. If you turned the car upside down the front of the frame would contact the ground way before the windscreen. I bet the wind screen would be 12 or 14" off the ground. I think the broom stick for seven with a long nose should go from roll bar to the front frame area.
  11. That seems to happen alot here as well. The cops on regular basis drive 20 + mph over the limit. No sirens no lights, even with lights and sirens they are only allowed to drive 10 mph over the posted limit. Maybe that is why they had 2 fatal accidents with citizens in the last year and totaled 11 cars. Another thing that gets me is city is talking about raising taxes to pay for fuel for city vehicles. My wife and I went into hastings last night to find a cruiser parked next to the curb car running. I thought maybe he is working a shoplifting or something. I went to the magazine rack and there the officer was standing looking at magazines. We were there for 30 min the whole time this car is parked and running empty with the officer inside looking at magazines. I also sent the police chief and email about this as well. Most departments do something if you have enough info time, place, car# or tag#. I work for the fire dept and we are ordered to turn trucks off anytime we stop unless we are on a call.
  12. That was funny for a while. I figured it was a joke to see what kind of rukus he could raise. He did a good job. I saw a post somewhere that a kid had the fantastic idea to run the exhaust of his corvette right back into the intake. This way he could avoid the expense of a turbo. This discussion went on for 30 pages. The bad thing is he was dead serious and no one could convince him that he needed to park his car at the nearest mental health hospital and check himself in. It was quite hilarious. I looked at some of his other threads and he had many bad ideas. Another was his car was handeling good. He thought the air in the tires had gotten stale and causing his problem.
  13. I suddenly love deer hunting in remote places
  14. That was a horrible crash.
  15. That has to be photo shop job. The antelope would have flown backwards ovet the car not straight up and spinning.
  16. Amazing is all I can say! The crane operator wasnt bad either.
  17. That why my next car is getting both a supercharger and turbocharger
  18. Im stumped, not good for future buyers. Backing out on deal and leaving the buyer holding a bag that is lighter than the bag they gave you. Since a good chunk of US 7 owners and future owners browse this site it would seem prudent to answer a few questions. Just my 2. Hope the Deman boys will chime in here.
  19. We have the 3" model on Mojito and it is much improved over the other mufflers we have had on the car. The muffler does stay amazingly cool even better with a ceramic coating on it. I have to agree that at cruising speed it is acceptable and it wakes up when you get on it. I would recommend it. They also sent us one for free to try and give feedback which we did.
  20. Caster should be half of the kingpin angle. So for most cars that is 5 or 6 degrees of caster. The more caster the better the car tracks. Should be able to drive with no hands. If the car is low on caster it will be very darty and difficult to hold on a straight line. The turn in will be very light and extremely responsive. For a car that sees street duty I prefer a tad bit of tow in 1/8" a lot of people say tow out for better steering turn in. Is that ever a problem for a 7? A 3000 lb car ok, not on a seven in my opion. Check bump steer. A general rule of thumb is the steering rack and tie rods should be level with the ground if it run up or down hill you will have bump steer issues with the slightest wheel movement. Lower control arm should be parallel to the ground and the upper control arm should be higher at the wheel than on the chassis. Most of that should be done from caterham but just double check. I have seen the tie rod end mounted to the wrong side of the spindle which will cause the tie rod to run up hill. I would also try lowering pressures to 17 or so.
  21. Holy crap Batman that is alot of info. I will have to store that info into my files for future refrence. Thanks for the info.
  22. My wife and 8 yo son just got back from 3 days of camping down near Austin. We did a canopy tour complete with 6 zip line and cable foot bridges. It was a great time. I was really proud of my 8 yo jumping right in. He wanted to go first and jumped off the platform and zipped about 200' to the next tree about 40' above the ground. He even hooped and hollard on the way. That makes for a good fathers day.
  23. Congrats on the car. It is a very nice car and at that price is a good deal. Hope you enjoy it hope to see that beast at some future events.
  24. Well I have been hitting the streets here. Family Powersports is a motorcycle dealer in the area. They donated a Snap On 4 drawer rolling box and a Craftsmen tool kit. I have a friend that is a good airbrush artist he is going to airbrush an Eagle on the tool box lid inside. The local Oriellys store donated a rolling tool cart. Napa is donating a floor jack with jack stands. Today I went to sears and bought a 260 piece tool set, ratchet wrenches both std and metric and a big screw driver set. I have a few more people that are donating money but havent ponied up yet. I am organizing a event for 4th of July weekend with the local military base. Goodfellow AFB is a joint military training facility for all military fire fighters. So the local fire fighters are joining forces with them to do a donation drive at 3 Orielly stores. It will be covered by radio and tv so hopefully it will have good results. Kevin and Michelle are going to send flyers to all 4000 of the stores they work with and challenging them to send $10. Thanks to the 5 guys here that have supported the solders.
  25. Demans SR27 should fit you as well. It is a nice car and has large drivers compartment.
