Well 7evin has been in Dallas at Jotech for the last two days dynoing the new car. (whew I am glad I dont have to pay that ticket) We are very pleased with the results of our supercharger system. It performed just as we had hoped. We experienced no belt slipage and the boost curve is very similiar to a turbo. We start building boost at 2200 rpm verses the old Vortech systems 6000 rpm before we built boost. With the boost building lower our powerband is twice as wide as before. We are set up for two boost levels. On pump gas we are running 9 lbs and we are getting 300hp and over 200 ft/lb of torque. In our E85 Organic Racing mode we are running 13.6 lbs of boost and the results are really impressive. I will just say that it is well north of 300 with a good boost in the torque curve. The nice thing about the E85 is it gives us a very nice cooling effect the engine never got over 180 degrees and the intake temps were very good. We have very conservative tune on the car for some serious track use with no fear of detonation. We also running a little fat giving up about 10 hp to keep it in a safe range. 7evin will be back tonight with the car to finish up the wiring and odds and ends and get the car ready to hit the road for the Hill Country tour. Hopefully in 3-4 days the car should be about done. 7evin took video of the car on the dyno we will post it in the videos section later.

Its alive!! We fired the engine today fixed the usual nagging leaks, bleed the brakes burped the coolant. 7evin loaded the car up at midnight heading to dallas for a 10am dyno session. I guess we will see if all of our hard earned work is going to pay off. 7evin is planning on videoing a few of the runs we will post them when we get it them done. Bed time for now. 7evin has a 5 hour drive ahead of him he should get 3-4 hrs of sleep before the shop opens. Man this is starting to feel like the 1 lap already. 20hrs a day of work and a few ours of shut eye for 7evin for the last 4 weeks. He is going to need a vacation to get over his vacation.

Newbie from Houston with a Request
WestTexasS2K replied to Winston's topic in General Sevens Discussion
frame looks pretty badly damaged. I am not sure what you are planning on using. It looks like the only usable pieces is rear diff, gauges, pedal assy. It would have to go for pretty cheap to be worth buying. -
My Ultralite NA was 1380 with 5 gal of gas. After it was supercharged with the liquid intercooler it changed to 1420. Maybe Rdrkt will chime in with his XR7 I think it weighed 1096 before he added the dry sump system. I know he had to add some weight to meet class requirement for E mod.
-
Starting price is very reasonable. The engine and throttle bodies are worth that.
-
He has good taste in wheels. Its the same ones we have on the new car.
-
Which Falkens do you have? I have had the RT651 and loved them they were great tires.
-
I will buy one maybe this one will work. I dont think I want to head it up. To many things on my plate right now.

Man I can sympathis with you on a split fuel tank. That is a horrible feeling when you find the problem. On the 1 lap of 06 we had left Mid America with a 1031 miles ahead of us. We were already a little behind due to a battery cell shorting out. So we topped off our tanks with fuel and had the hammer down. We got about 40 miles down the road and I noticed that our freshly filled gas gauge was at 1/2 a tank. I told Kevin we might have a problem we stopped and I got out and to my horror sound fuel flowing freely at about a 1/2 gallon a min flowing out of the car. Quick inspection found a 2 1/2 in crack in the welded seem on the bottom of the tank. Why have the seem on the bottom instead of the top ? I dont know. I didnt make the tank. Apparently whom ever did make it didnt consider that a possibility. So our delima is we have a cracked aluminum tank with 975 miles to our destination and about 14 hrs to get there. So we unstrapped the tank stood it on its side so the crack was on top. We used ratchet straps to hold it in place and drove to the next town. We found a well stocked Ace Hardware store. We purchased 36 grit sandpaper, paint thinner and epoxy putty gas tank repair. We roughed it up good and cleaned it up good with the paint thinner and applied the putty let it dry for about an hour and then set the tank back down. No leak. We patted ourselves on the back for a good patch on the fly. We loaded back up Kevin driving again determined to make up for lost time. We get about 30 miles down the road when we pulled over by a guy in a big funny hat that didnt appear to be very happy with our rate of transport. Apparently he had meet some of our competitors earlier (125 in a 70)leaving him in a generous mood with his ticket book. Good news was the patch held for several days then had to be repeated somewhere in West Virgina.

The problem is that the hood is 1/4 - 1/2" from the radiator so there is no room to go over the radiator. The radiator cant go any lower either. Now we could move the radiator back which will allow some room over the top but then the fan will not fit. It is tough on these little cars. There just isnt alot of room anywhere. We are going to rename this car to'' It Just Fits BARLEY"

Congrats nothing like drive your own seven for the first time. Its a shame you could only go down the block hopefully the weather will clear up soon for you to really enjoy your car.
-
I had thought about using something like a WRX intercooler that is mounted on top of the motor then using a scoop. But I really didnt want to change the lines of the car to much.
-
We are really concerned about that ourselves. We specd the core and where we wanted the outlets and they built it with those huge tanks. So we will just have to give it a try. kind of hard to not use such an expensive part. 7s just have such a limited space. We were trying to stay away from water to air intercooler with heat exchanger fluid tank pump and all that hardware. This car is going to be running on Ethanol which should help keep the temps down. We will see. We might have to go with plan B.

We changed to a beefier rear diff it has held so far. Hope that it will handel the addidtional power. We may need to get it Cryo treated if we still have issues. Mondo you can see the supercharger down on the bottom right in the engine pic hopefully by end of next week it will be on the dyno and we will have some numbers. The Mocal unit is an engine oil cooler that uses radiator fluid to help keep the oil cool.

Where is Quigley when you need him.

The Hushpower is fairly heavy too. Hopefully we will have the new car running next week we will see what she sounds like on the dyno.

Kerrville is just off I 10 about 75 miles NW of San Antonio. Sorry for the bad spelling. That happens when I am in a hurry.

New car is a at 0 for now. We will see what the next few months does to the odometer. As far as reporting what we spend on the car could be a bad idea. My wife looks over my shoulder at times to read whats going on. I do not want to self incriminate. As far as she knows I bought all those parts on ebay for pennies on the dollar. Thats my story and I am sticking to it:)

I know this is the wrong section but just wanted to make sure people dont miss out on this event. We have a Texas Hill Country tour sch for April 11 12 13. Check the events section for info. We have about 9 cars coming so far. If you are in Texas and have a LSIS this is going to be a fun weekend driving on some excellent winding and fun roads. These could quite possibly the best driving roads in Texas from what I have read. I have pre-driven all 500 miles of them and can tell you that you are in for a treat. The blocking for the hotel ends on the 23rd so dont hesitate.

We recently bought a Flowmaster Hushpower II muffler to use on the new car. We havent started it yet but it has noise cancellation chambers that are supposed to cancel out the high annoying frequencies. We hope to have the car running in the next 10 days or so. I will leave you some feedback on its performance. We have tried 3 different mufflers with poor results for the money spent at this point well over 600.00. So we are hoping this works as advertised.

I had thought of the motorcycle low boy trailers as well. I built one similiar in size for Paul S and like the size. I can not build it for what I can buy it built so I am leaning to that direction myself. I also like the idea of a low boy because it catces less wind and helps with gas mileage towing. I have a Dodge 2500 cummins so I can tow what I choose with no problem but I still have to pay 3.90-4.25 per gallon. So 16 mpg compared to 11 mpg makes a huge difference in pocket output. I have a 20ft heavy duty car hauler 11000lb payload which is a bit over kill unless you are carrying 5 LSIS. It pulls well. I get 17-18 towing it with the car but I would like a place to keep my tools and my car secure when staying at hotels and for extended stops while traveling. So my only obstacle is finding the dough to make my dreams reality. LE

I saw that company at the PRI show. They have some very nice products that is used extensively in NASCAR and INDY. It is very expensive though.

Bernie, 7evin is converting the maps to an pdf format for me to post. I went saturday pre-drove the route for the tour, 800 miles total. I checked out the Hotel it is a clean nice place with ample parking. I looked at a room and it was clean and well furnished. I also found a restaurant that will accomadate us for a meal on Sat. night. I had to modify the 1st day route a little bit due to highway construction that had about 7 miles of the pavement removed and was now a gravel road. It is going to cause a deviation in the route, but glad I drove it to avoid this problem. There are some amazing roads that I didnt know existed in Texas. We are in for a real treat. We have two sections that are about 45 miles long each that are loaded with tight winding curves and roller coaster hills that were a pure blast in my wifes Civic Si and I cant wait to get a 7 on these roads. The remaining roads are very nice twisty roads that follow along the Guadalupe and Frio rivers. Most of them are narrow 2 lane with double yellow most of the time so finding places to pass slower folks can get a little challenging. I have done 2 routes for day one. One route is 215 miles the other is 300 miles. The 215 mile route will take about 6 hrs with a lunch stop and a few breaks. The 300 will take close to 8 hrs if you take an 1hr lunch and a few stops. There is gas stations in Leakey and Campwood as well as a few places to eat. There was an outdoor BBQ stand in Leaky that had a live band that is called the Hog Pen that was very busy so it must be good. There is also a new Texaco station on the west side of town that has a Subway in it. We will be eating at Momacitas in Kerrville at 6:30 p.m so an early start should be planned. For us to get back in time to clean up and make it to the restaraunt. If you are in Texas you need to do this event. You will not be disappointed. There has been only 4 hotel rooms reserved so far so in the words of Larry the Cable guy GET-ER-DONE.
