  1. Looking good Mazda. You better get going if you're going to have it ready for Carlisle! Bruce :7drive:
  2. Dave. Great write-up on corner-weights. Hope you make it to Topeka! Bruce :7drive:
  3. "The incompetence of this particular division of the NYS DMV is beyond belief." - It's amazing the number of problems people have with the various DMV's. :ack: Good luck and I hope you get this worked out so you can bring your car to the show. Bruce :7drive:
  4. Congrats, what an exciting time for you! Make sure you keep us updated with photos. Good luck with the DMV! Bruce :7drive:
  5. Looking good Dave! Do you have any close-up pics of the front splitter? Bruce :7drive:
  6. Robert, I use Redline MTL in my Birkin as well as the T9 in my '64 MGB and have been happy with the results in both. Don't know if you have a drain plug in your tranny, but it could be difficult to remove the existing fluid if you don't. I put a drain plug in mine when I had it apart. I've gotten parts from two sources in the US and been happy with both. BAT, under their Merkur site: http://www.batinc.net/merkur.htm And Taylor Race Eng: http://www.taylor-race.com/framedmap.cfm?drawing=sierramap&category=Transmissions&subcategory1=Quaife&subcategory2=Quaife%20Parts&subcategory3=Quaife%20Sierra You might also check out your local auto parts stores and see if any one carries a seal for a mid 80's Mercury Merkur. That has the T9 tranny in it. For the manual, check this out: http://www.biggles.net/download/Manual_Type9.pdf Bruce :7drive:
  7. Nice job Gert! Do you notice much difference in the way it tows? Bruce :7drive:
  8. I think there was a problem with shipping/transportation with the original buyer. It was relisted and sold for 24k with Buy-it-Now: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140225543782&ssPageName=ADME Bruce :7drive:
  9. "The finest moment was during the bracket racing, I had 12.9 dialed in, and I am in the staging lane next to a Cobra. The guy looks down at my windshield and says to me " I didn't think those LITTLE cars are that fast". I replied, "sometimes they even beat the BIG cars", and then I proceeded to beat him.... it made my day." Good job Jerry
  10. Jack P., "Knowing what size fits right in is helpful." - I did a little more checking on this, and my original Birkin housing had a 2" od and the replacement Mocal housing has a 2-1/4" od where it attaches to the body, so I did have to enlarge the opening in the body with a die grinder. I think I also offset the filler towards the passenger side to line up perfectly with the fuel cell I installed. Only one of the six attachment holes lines up with an original hole. It's been so long since I installed it that I must have forgot.... Bruce :7drive:
  11. Looks like a fun time. Thanks for sharing! 36 degrees in Texas in April??? Bruce :7drive:
  12. What a great way to start the new day!!!   Bruce :7drive:
  13. "500+ miles yesterday alone." - I'm impressed! I'm hoping that I'll be able to drive that far at some point, but I'm going to have to do something about the stock Birkin seats first. Bruce :7drive:
  14. Al, As long as the Birkin continues to show improved reliability I'd definitely be interested (weather permitting of course). Bruce :7drive:
  15. Nice video Gert. You've really done a great job on your camera set-up. Thanks for sharing! Bruce :7drive:
  16. They may not be the best photos, but they're my favorite because it's the first of my car in motion. Got a break from the rain and was able to go out this morning. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1945567827__MG_0163R.jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/375743050__MG_0358R.jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/475671386__MG_0376.jpg Bruce :7fume:

  19. Congrats Hal, looking good! And there's no such thing as a boring Seven video unless it's stuck in a garage under a car cover... Bruce :7drive:
  20. Thanks for the info Jim, I'll check it out. Bruce :7drive:
  21. Nice job!! Get it done, have fun, and keep us updated on the tour!! Bruce :7drive:
  22. Dave, "I was looking for a one shot easy miracle polish." - If you ever find it let me know!! Bruce :7drive:
  23. That is great news Stan, thanks for the update!!! Bruce :7drive:
  24. Welcome aboard Todd! "Do I have a cool wife or what??!!" - That's a pretty easy question to answer!! "We are looking at doing a 7 as soon as garage space allows" - Thankfully they don't take up much space!! Bruce :7drive:
  25. Thanks guys!! Had a great day driving it to work, giving rides at lunch time, answering lots of questions, and taking Nancy out for a nice ride and dinner. We even got the speedo calibrated which was really easy! I think I put on over 50 miles today!! "Question: did you order the gearkit from BGH direct? Have I already asked you this (it's an age thing...)" - Even if you did Steve, I couldn't remember! To answer your question, yes I talked to Brian himself and did a lot of research on Blatchat, Cherik's website, and Phil's home page before deciding on the BGH 2.8 Sporting Close gear kit. I went with the 2.75, 1.75, 1.26, 1.00, and .84 ratios and have been very happy so far. I think it would have no trouble pulling the 2.66 gear so that is certainly a possibility, but I decided to go with the 2.75 1st gear because I might be switching to 205/50x15 tires due to the better availability. I went with the .84 instead of the .82 5th gear for the same reason - that and I think he didn't have any .82's at the time. Brian was great to work with, the parts were well packed and I rec'd them in about 3 days. I got the kit in the summer of 2006, so the exchange rate was a little better then. Not sure what the damage would be these days. If you really are interested, let me know and I can check my records a little better and give you some more info. I think I still have a new long input shaft that I ordered by mistake (think it works with the Cat bellhousing) but didn't return because of the shipping cost. Check out these websites: http://www.our-nest.co.uk/Caterham/html_files/2004_cr_gearbox.htm http://www.bghgeartech.co.uk/html/gear_kits.html http://my.voyager.net/~quadrant19/Gearbox-upgrade.html I even came up with a very simple tool to do the minor machining that has to be done to clear the bigger gear. I was surprised to see how well it worked. Here's a picture of the rebuilt tranny before installation. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1007157265_IMG_9500.JPG Bruce :7drive:
