Yeah pre-crossflows are cool. Farley had one at his shop that he just finished. Full on race motor and a $30k price tag. I thought my motor was expensive.
Well I just picked up my new 1600cc Ford crossflow motor from Farley Racing Engines. Real pretty with no oil crud all over it (I wonder how long it will stay that way). Dyno’d 104 chp at 6100. Not as much as I had hoped. Now I need to find the time to match it up to my new used 4 spd tranny and see if everything fits in the Locost. It is a taller motor than my old 1300cc crossflow so I need to lower it in the frame and make new motor and tranny mounts. I also need to find a long clutch cable to actuate my clutch now that the starter and clutch leaver are on opposite sides. Wish me luck. Russ
The slave measures 1.385" but there is a lot of corrosion so it probably is 1 3/8". I can try to post pics tomorrow but Mr Computer I am not. My tranny is a British made type 2 from a Pinto. It looks just like the tranny on page 114 of Burtons 2014 catalog. I would check out a 1970's Mustang slave or 2300cc Pinto, as I think all Xflow Pintos were cable clutches. Russ
Looks just like the BH that came with my motor. Same numbers except mine has an "11" where yours has a "24". I got another BH that was cable actuated so I am not using this one. It has a Gerling 7/8 cylinder on it with a "CC9" under the Gerling name. I was told the trans and BH came from a 70's Mustang/Pinto
I am in the process of putting a new Ford 1600 crossflow in my RHD locost seven and I would like to update my transmission. My existing tranny is a type 2 4 speed with integral bellhousing. The second gear syncro is bad. These trannys are very weak and were never imported to the US so I doubt any rebuild parts are available stateside. I have an extra tranny that appears to be a type 2 tranny from a Pinto/Capri (see page 114 of the Burton catalog http://www.burtonpower.com/eCatalogue/2014/index.html). The trouble is the starter and clutch cable are on the opposite sides from what I need. I have to have a bellhousing that has the starter on the left and the clutch cable on the right (no I can't use a hydraulic clutch without MAJOR remodel of my pedal box). Beer tokens await anyone that has the right bellhousing. Russ
Raise the front of the truck on ramps therefore lowering the load height and angling the floor to match your load ramps. I use the straight HF ramps and love them. Russ
Gail, HOTTTCAR, and Lana (most of the body work done by her) have done an incredible job on that Corvette powered Stalker. Try being passed by them when you are doing 50MPH and all you see is a grey blur and hear a tremendous roar!!!!!!!!
Looks like about $75995.00 in damages. Which just happens to be the price of a new ultra fast Caterham!!! Can't see any body damage. Just the license. Russ
Xromad announced that he is planning on hosting the 2015 Midwest Se7ens Gathering in the Davenport, Ia/Galena, Il area. He has not come up with dates yet. Hope to see you there. Russ
Ed Young finally had a moment and uploaded his photos... they should be able to be seen here:
