LOwflyer, that is an interesting trailer. How did that top work?????? What guage ali diamond plate did you use? How did you fasten it? Russ
-
There are ways to determine that but it would take a mechanical or structural engineer to figure it. I think if you figured 1/2 or 3/4 of the total you would be safe. I used gas struts on anothere trailer I modified and just took an educated guess and it worked out great. It is better to have too much than not enough. Think about wind, rain, snow loads also. I would also add 5% for welds, fasteners, caulk, etc . 1x2 .072 is 1.83#/ft 14ga is 1.6#/ft. .040 ali is .564/sf. Russ
-
westtexas, If it is 1" square 16ga tube it is .827#/ft and .032 ali is .452#/sf so your ali will be slightly higher. I know this because I am building a similar trailer for my 7. Only the top will slope down at a 30deg angle. Russ

Oil leaks? It's British. If it ain't leaking, you're out of oil. My xflow 1300cc leaks all the time although not in the carb area (Single barrel downdraft). Be sure to check the valve cover and pan bolts occasionally. They will back out. My red line is 5800 on a stock engine. Congrats on the purchase. You'll find out the more you drive it the easier it is to get in and out because it makes you feel younger, Russ

Is there any way to get fresh air to the carb with out going over the rad? Scoop? I put one on mine because the air cleaner sticks thru the bonnet. Air will take the path of least resitance. I did not think having a little air going around my rad would matter till I blocked it all off. Now I never have any overheating problems. Any air going around will screw things up. Put a temporary blockoff in and see if it changes, Russ
-
I assume you have blankoffs around the rad to keep air from getting around it, right? Russ

I've seen similar things at Krueger Game Reserve in South Africa but not that good. That was amazing. Russ

It's rainning off and on here, so no blats in KC today. You west coasters have all the luck, Russ

I can't imagine that many cars at a car show let alone all Brits. Makes the shows I go to look boring. I have heard that after that show they came in with bulldozers and scrapped off the top 250cm of earth and were able to extract 293 barrels of oil, Is that true??? Ha ha ha. Great looking car, Russ

All I can say is WOW. Russ

Oh, man I'm heat! But at $34500 I think I'll go take a cold shower. I have always loved that car. The Malone Skunk (UK) is another but can't get it here. Russ

Yes the more the merrier. Heck, even sixs and eights can come. Ha Ha. Serriously, if I could go to TOD I would have this all out of my system. We need more events to promote our passion. In England it seems like they have 2 or 3 events a month plus all the 750 series racing events. If we had more regional events throughout the USA it would only help us. I know there are Locosts, origional Sevens, Birkins, Westfields just sitting in garages waiting to get together. Right here in KC I know of at least a dozen. They need an event like this to get them off their jack stands, Russ

Just got back from a short blat in the Locost. I was scouting out twisties to drive on. Does anybody have any desire for a Midwest Locost gathering in the Kansas City area late this summer or in the fall?? I will organize it if there are enough interested people. There are lots of things to do and see around KC. Would you like short or long trips in your car? Organized or self guided drives? One suggestion is the Labor Day weekend All British Car Show http://kcallbritish.tripod.com/ that we could do. The second weekend is the British car show in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and the third weekend of September is out for me. August is a killer because of the heat and July and June are too close. So what do you think?? Let me know if you are interested and what you would like to do. Russ

Where is the cops when you need them. Maybe you need a camera on the rollbar to video them. Or a .45, Russ

Your nutzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Welcome home and a job well done, Russ

Another thing is to use curved ramps. The type used for lawn tractors. They are a little more $$ but it will solve any bottoming out problems. Russ

I use 6 footers. My trailer is 20" high to the deck, so it is a little higher than most, Russ

Nope . http://www.licenseplates.tv/prod/britainuk_euro_front_2034.html#lpgen

Oops. Just saw your other post. Nice Locost. Too bad your on the other side of the country.

Tell us something about it. I notice your steering wheel is on the proper side. So is mine. Mine is a Locost made in the UK. Is it a locost or a real 7? looks like a real one, Russ
-
I did not use the frame. I guess I'm too cheap. Russ

Where do you keep your registration papers?

Kans"ass" does not require a front plate, Missouri does. This is one time I am glad I moved over here, Russ
