I was sorting through some of the spare parts I got with my 1989 Caterham and found two of these. I have no idea where they were installed or what they are for. Made of steel and with excellent welds and paint. Any ideas? Thanks, Eric
CarlB thanks for posting photos of your skid plate as I have been thinking about adding one to my car. How much ground clearance do you have with it in place?
You should bring your Tiger to the Charleston British car show on October 19th-they are featuring the Sunbeam Tiger and all Sunbeams with special things planned. Nearly 20 Sunbeams signed up so far. https://www.britishcarclubcharleston.com/BritishCarDay2024/BCD2024.html
Of course all Sevens are welcome too!
The alternator thread got me thinking......
Did all of the Caterham cars with alternators have a metal heat shield over the top of them? I have seen photos of those in place. Mine is missing if anyone has one for sale in the USA.
Thanks, Eric
I bought a set of these 15 inch prisoner wheels a few years ago and am now finally getting around to using them. I did not get any lug nuts with them but did get the rare removeable covers though!
Looking at my other alloy wheels some use a steel insert that is installed in the wheel lug nut area to use normal lug nuts and the others that use sleeved lug nuts are just plain alloy with no steel inserts in that area. These prisoner wheels have the tapered area at the base of the lug nut hole as if to fit normal lug nuts but there is no steel insert. Can anyone with these wheels help ID what lug nuts to use for these prisoner wheels? I have had no luck searching on the forum. Photo is not of my car but to show what the prisoner wheel looks like. Thank you! Eric
Welcome Ryan!
Hope the heater worked well on your ride home. Here is a photo of your car at the Charleston British car show a few years ago.
It was a nice warm day then! Eric
As shown in the photo-these were fitted to early Lotus 7's. There was a guy in the USA making repros but he does not reply to emails. I am in the USA. thank you!
"Has anyone tried this product. At 1 x 0.032" the size looks appropriate to me. Or what are other folks using for this applicaiton?

Looks like good stuff until you read that it takes a special glue-at $57/bottle!
Soul is it! Fuel injection? Predictable and good for moderns but nothing makes music like a set of side draft Webers!
They add to the whole "low flying" effect....
So the Road+Track article is about a build going on at Rocky Mountain Caterham? Looks like I need to find the magazine and buy it.
Glad to hear that Ross and his son are involved with RMC-can only mean good news for the rest of us!
