  1. A long sought after key fob arrived today Nobody was able to source this for me and Caterham appears to only give them with a small purchase of a whole new car... Which isn't exactly in my budget at the moment Going to have to Dremel down another blank copy to fit into shell Hardest part was explaining to the better half why on earth I ordered a key fob from across the planet when I already had one (or two actually) Compared to "old" and regular retail unit
  2. Not having much time to fix anything or drive anywhere at this point in the season I only had one more mission left and that was a foliage shoot and a Halloween shoot. Keeping in mind that mind driving radius was severely limited by how far my battery would take me I went to a local park a few blocks away and put on full winter mode of windscreen, doors and half hood. Might as well use them once or twice a year
  3. A few updates Last shake down run resulted in DNF. Turns out my brand new alternator, that was bench tested in the store isn't outputting voltage which resulted in me having to go from the fast last on the highway to the shoulder without power or blinkers. Parked the dead stick on the shoulder. Tried to start again and it started! Ran for 15 seconds and back to dead. Popped the bonnet and used the handy volt meter I brought with me along with an array of other tools and saw that the battery read basically 0. While on the side of the road with the better half, I saw that a brodozer pulled over. As the person was walking towards me I realized that I know this particular brodozer and I was rescued by a friend that happen to be driving by. It was only about half a mile from the house. I know better than go too far on shakedown runs now. The Lithium battery I have happens to have a jump feature built into it, and I had a portable jumper pack that might have been enough power to get me home but I didn't want to find out.
  4. That was eBay. Might have to find it again for new key
  5. Finally found one and got it from Dubai out of places.. Front is the same design as one available from store. Back is different.
  6. https://tiresize.com/comparison/ If the width is the same, then yes its essentially identical
  7. You ask a lot of questions that seem more rhetoric out of frustration rather than actual inquiries. BaT is a "forum"/social"media"/"auction" rolled into one. Winner doesn't equal to buyer to the best of my understanding and neither party has an actual contractual obligation to sell or buy. Winner just gets the rights to contact the seller and the seller gets to use his fees to get in touch with the buyer who promises the total etc. As far as strange antics from users... that comes with the social aspect of it. Like you there are many many users that have no interest in signing up or bidding or chatting unless they have something in mind to buy now and maybe only once. Hence no prior history or possibly future. Funny bids are essentially an inside joke. It's almost a right of passage for somebody to bid $7,777 for a Seven by somebody even if they have no interest in buying as they know the final auction will always go way higher than that. I personally am a user and a poster but I have no actual interest in buying anything.. hence the social part of it. Just another place to chit chat with fellow 7 enthusiasts and get the precious "likes/thumbs up" that mean nothing other than self validation that you did something right. Of course there are also those "do gooders" that like to contribute to discussion and sale to make sure buyers are well informed by the keen eyes of other enthusiasts. This is where @Croc comes in with his regular (and very usefull) VIN Decoding free service, and he's got a mountain of thumbs up to prove it. Just like any auction the final minutes is where everything really counts. The full run period of the auction is just there to make sure as many people as possible get reached, but nothing really matters until people get competitive in the last minutes. There is a lot of "free money" that a large portion of the population has gotten in the last years between the market doing good, or lucky bets on the market or just the equity people have acquired in their housing. Combine that with the mental desperation of getting older, reality of dangers of things like Covid and the presumed upcoming death of ICE engines and values have gone through the roof. Double so for pristine and rare models that typically get listed on BAT. You will often see super buyers on that site with winning collections just from BAT in many hundreds of thousands of dollars and a dozen cars. Be willing to spend more is the only real advice. You won't find a "steal" on such a popular platform. Too many eyes on it. You'd have to find a local seller and thats extremely rare for such vehicles. The one local seller near by me who didn't list on anything other than Facebook and didn't give out any personal info was overwheled with buyers who found his address and started showing up at his door and essentially bidding to buy the vehicle. Market is craaaaazy. Steals are nearly impossible to find in this information age.
  8. You want to look better or be gone? Kits are about $20 and will make it look better. Professionals can likely make it look gone for like $50? Worth calling around Or do what I do and buy two windshield replacement from UK, have both come in broken and just swap to aero screen and forget about windshield

  16. Had enough battery to go to a local park for a quick shoot. Alternator isn't charging is still core issue that's being kicked down the road
  17. I'm in upstate by Albany so I think a bit too far for you. I'm 5ft7 about the same weight and I think you will be just fine with regular S3. Led lights? You want new style or old style? I'm not certain Caterham offers old style with led from factory. Post up a pic of your build on CC builder website.
