  1. I don't know if this will help, but... https://www.anglocanadianlotus7.ca/the-first-official-twin-cam-engined-seven-in-1965/ The twincam fits just fine in my S-3. I'm Altadena if you want to come up and look and/or take some measurements. A modern engine would be just fine but it wouldn't make the swell sound that comes from the twincam... Tom
  2. Spent the weekend on the California Central Coast and saw this nice fellow on the way to assist someone...
  3. Three gallons of gas? Heck, that's cheaper than two gallons in LA. Go to one of the breweries and I'll send cash to cover the first pitcher. Your books can be a real inspiration... tom
  4. I used a torch and a big hammer to create a little more clearance between the header tubes and the steering column.
  5. I bought my alternator from Dave Bean. Unfortunately the bracket that came with it mounts the unit low and this creates a problem on a left hand drive 7. I had a friendly machinist make another bracket to put it above the steering column. Also put some wrap on the #1 header tube. It works much better than the lump that came with the car.
  6. I bought mine from Moss Motors.
  7. Bought mine after an evening of beveraging at Laguna Seca, I was 67 at the time. Turned 75 last week and still enjoy driving and working on it. I had some difficulty getting out of it last year but a new hip cured that. Read of couple of Ross Robbins books about travel in Elans and Sevens for some perspective. I'll sell it when it no longer puts a smile on my face.
  8. Kampena Motors in Sonoma?
  9. If you’re out and about this weekend VARA is at Willow Springs for their High Desert Challenge. It’s always a good time https://www.vararacing.com/ tom
  10. This may actually be the right one... https://www.waytekwire.com/catalog/battery-termination/battery-boots/23514-marine-battery-boot
  11. I joined a few years ago with no issues. Tomorrow I'll look into what I did and give you an update. They had a good time and publish a swell magazine. tom
  12. You might try Moss Motors.
  13. Try Kroil or Silikroil from Kano Labs. It has never failed me. Squirt it, tap it a few times, and let it sit for a while. tom
  14. I got my lightweight flywheel from Dave Bean. I think I got the oil pickup and strainer there too. davebean.com tom
  15. My steel tank, 1982 S-3, was a mess. The SoCal dealer ordered me a new aluminum tank and did not charge me shipping as they had it put in container with a larger order.
  16. My experience is that Use Tax is collected for purchases where you don't pay sales tax, for instance an out of state purchase. There are ways around it but they involve taking delivery out of state and not bringing it into the state for a specific period of time.
  17. I did that with a large propeller. If you put a little dish detergent in the water the sandpaper will clog up less. After the 2000 grit I used Simichrome polish. It took a while. It may be quicker to use the various grades of Nuvite polish. I used corn starch to wipe off the black stuff from the polish, which makes a different mess. Some use paint thinner for this.
  18. Anonima Lombarda Fabbrica Automobili
  19. You might try Dave Bean https://www.davebean.com/ Pierce Manifolds https://www.piercemanifolds.com/SOFT_MOUNT_SET_FOR_WEBER_DCOE_99005_145_p/99005.145.htm
  20. What did you do to the oil pan? Thanks
  21. We were there last month. What a great tribute to an incredible person.
  22. I use Industrial Metal Supply in Sun Valley, near Burbank. They are pretty helpful and know metal. If that doesn't work let me know and I can track down a friend who knows where to find any metal. https://www.industrialmetalsupply.com/ tom
  23. Try this? https://www.macsautoparts.com/fuel-pump-rebuild-kit-for-glass-bowl-pumps-ford-passenger-32-11251-1.html
  24. The Smiths doesn't do anything but speed, trip meter, and total miles. Maybe should have done the Speedhut. I put the antenna in the nose because it is kind of ugly. The signal has no trouble coming through the fiberglass and the length of the cable didn't matter.
