There is an older thread on this same topic (Lightweight (lithium most likely) battery recs?). As I mentioned there, I have am Antigravity SC-1 that weighs about 1 pound. I now have over 1k miles of use and it is working fine, but it requires diligent use of the Master electrical switch. I think the suggestions for the Antigravity ATX12HD are safer choices if you want an Antigravity brand.

I have about 6K mikes on my car and the film is holding up well. Be aware that the premier pre-cut pieces do not fully wrap the wings, of course neither do the metal or carbon protectors.

John, Sounds like it's almost time to sell that 420R crate engine

Effective wind deflector/buffeting reduction?
kayentaskier replied to Cueball1's topic in General Sevens Discussion
If it's the wind buffeting you're concerned with, the best solution is to sell the windshield, install the aero screen and wear a helmet. -
Hi Frankie, hope to see you on Saturday at Brighton. I always take the Master switch, ignition key and steering wheel, all these fit in the small backpack I carry

Regarding the battery shutting down, I think you are running the AntiGravity SC-1, the same battery I just had installed in my 420R. I’m thinking it may be a little too small for cars that don’t start first time, every time. I just put 550 miles on my car last week, driving from So UT to Northern UT (I took the long way around). The battery performed perfectly except for one time. As I was filling the gas tank, I had the key on so I could watch the fuel gauge as I filled it. Once I was finished, I just pushed the car into a shady spot. I then went to get a cold drink; about 15 minutes later the car would not start. I had neglected to turn off the key and/or the Master Switch. So the electrical system was drawing power for the fuel pump and other things. Apparently, this was enough time for the battery to lose enough voltage that it would not start. It’s not like the battery was weak, it’s more like it was switched off. As soon as it was jumped it was fine, lesson learned. However, if I was choosing a battery again, I might go up in capacity.

John, I don't know how our engines compare, mine is a stock 420, so 2.0 Duratec with Caterham dry sump; but Josh has suggested the happy place for my engine is 6.25 quarts

I have this one and like it a lot for indoor and occasional outdoor use: https://caterhamparts.co.uk/carcovers/5269-carcover-indoor-to-fit-all-cars.html

When I asked Josh Robbins this question a couple of years ago, he recommended either Zerex Asian or Peak Orange

In my case it was a new build and, importantly, I don't live in a county that requires smog inspection. The DMV inspectors came to my home, reviewed the docs and assigned the chassis number as the VIN. I drove another car to DMV and walked out 30 minutes later with plates.

Lightweight (lithium most likely) battery recs?
kayentaskier replied to supersportsp's topic in General Tech
Josh at RMC fabbed up a bracket and installed the AG SC-1 battery during my cars annual service. It's too hot to drive the car now (105 today and 114 expected this weekend), but I've driven it very short distances and it starts strongly. I use the battery cut off religiously, but I also bought the correct battery tender. The weight savings was almost exactly 15 lbs. I expect to put about 2,000 miles on the car in August, so it should be a good test of the battery. I did have Josh keep the Banner battery just in case. Josh also installed the PGM self cancelling blinker module, I'm curious to see how I like it. https://www.pgmsussex.com/product-page/indicators -
Frankie, Congrats on the new purchase. That makes two new 7s in SLC in a very short time. Another person, in SLC, bought the 2009 Birkin that had been for sale. I'll be in Park City for the month of August in order to drive my car on all those great roads. The drive from So UT to Park City (and back) each year is the highlight of my 7 ownership, so many fantastic alpine roads between Zion and Spanish Fork. Perhaps we should have a usa7s Cars and Coffee. Jim

Josh Robbins at RMC has quite a few spares, send him a text or email

Greetings and a Few Questions From a Wannabe Seven Driver
kayentaskier replied to rider's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Welcome Henry, if your target is a 420R, then I fully endorse Croc’s and Knifey’s comments. I live in the most SW corner of UT, temps are already in the 90s and in the Summer are above 100 for weeks at a time. I don’t drive my 420R here in July and August, but it’s not the heat generated by the car that prevents it, it’s the ambient temps that make it too hot to be outside in a open car. so now that we’ve put the heat issue to rest 😀 let’s hear the next concern so we can help you get into that 420R Jim -
I thought the loop hole for shipping rolling chassis was closed. Did I miss something?

Mike, Thanks for posting the update. Are you planning to road register CatKong? If so, in what state? Any chance it will be ready in time for the September USA7s HPDE meeting? Jim

Mike, as I recall it attached to the light, but my car is back with Josh for its annual service and prepping it for sale 😫so I can’t verify. I’ll bet Knifey will jump in with answer

Jim came to my house to look at my car while he was waiting for his to be delivered, I've seen him driving near by once, but we've yet to have both cars in the same place.

Getting closer to a purchase. More questions.

In my experience, the best solution is the Battery Master Cutoff Switch -
Jimmy, Is your paint Caterham's Hyper Green? If so, I have found it difficult to match here. Caterham was unwilling to sell painted replacements, even to RMC. Josh Robbins is working now on a local (to him) painter to match my Hyper Green wings. You might reach out to him to see if he can help. With that said, if it mostly a track car, racers tape will be a much cheaper solution. Jim
