Mike , Do you have any idea on the approximate cost for the 2L sight glass shown in your picture above? I wrote to Premier Power about it, but did not get a response. Thanks, Jim

regarding the fender mounting ... I 'm probably this guy: I've heard an anecdote about road use in Utah, possibly caused by HUGE temperature swings my fiberglass front right fender blew off at about 65-70 mph on a 70 degree Summer day . The car was built by Josh Robbins, so I'm pretty sure the fender was glued properly. The best guess was the glue could not stand up the the temperature swings between 110 degrees is Summer to below freezing in Winter (my garage does not HVAC). The fenders are now screwed on.

Hi Mike, I use two products from here: https://www.sunmatecushions.com/pages/liquid-sunmate-foam-in-place-seating I use a sheet of Sunmate foam as the seat base and then, use the liquid sunmate for the seat. This one was more complicated because I wanted to retain the seat adjustment hardware and the seat back. I then took it to a local upholstery shop for finishing.

I finished my new foam in place seat cushion and went on a short blat this afternoon; the seat is a big improvement for me. The goal of the new seat was to increase thigh support while allowing the seat to be easily interchangeable with the standard S seat cushion. In my S3 cars, I simply removed the entire seat and foamed the seat directly into the tub. Because the S3 was shorter than the SV, I did not use a rear seat cushion at all, just a foam pad made of the same material as the foam in place seat. This time I wanted to be able to retain the S seat back cushion.

Retired now, but semiconductor material and equipment sales executive most of my career. Started our as an entry level material sales person and worked my way up to global level Sr. VP and regional President. It offered my great money and the chance to live in Japan, but at the cost of very, very poor work/life balance. The last 10 years I was away from home 200 days/year and had to be available by phone/email 7 X 24. I don't miss it a bit.

Knifey, If you're looking for a license plate bracket, you might check with Josh Robbins. Here's the bracket he delivered with my car. At the time, he only had a few more, not sure if he produced another batch or not.

As Croc mentioned in a separate post, a heated jacket may be a better solution than heated seats, and certainly makes for an easier installation. For example: https://www.thewarmingstore.com/keis-j501-premium-heated-jacket.html?utm_content=ps-nonbrand&gclid=CjwKCAiAvOeQBhBkEiwAxutUVIWEZYnIBToiwR1sFRgsGK6XlPQ8CpVFUsmJ7Kqcd8VgOpQGyIgbeRoCiCoQAvD_BwE

Very sorry to see this damage @IamScotticus; I have twice used a UHaul trailer to load my 420R (with 15" tires), it was very tight going on. I am not sure it would work with 13 inch tires. The first time I needed pieces of wood to help with the angle; we pushed the car on so we could move it very slowly. After the first time, I bought a cheap set ramps that I used to lengthen the UHaul ramps. Keep in mind, Uhaul will not rent you a trailer if you say you are towing a Caterham because the Caterham is not in their system. I rented a trailer to locally tow a Miata, drove the trailer home for a test fit. Then returned the trailer and rented it again a few days later to drive it to another state. Finally, there are two versions of the Uhaul trailer, so a test fit is a good idea. Jim

I have a standard 420R; as indicated above, the new kits come with heat shielding from the factory. In addition, Josh Robbins and I decided to have the headers and collectors Cerakote coated to help reduce temperatures. I can honestly say that I don't have any issues with heat in the cockpit. With that said, I don't track the car and don't usually drive the car when it above about 85 degrees, so you mileage may vary. Jim

Trafficator switch, anyone?
kayentaskier replied to IamScotticus's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I don't mean to hijack this thread, but there is an after market product, designed for Caterhams that adds self cancelling capability to blinkers: https://www.pgmsussex.com/product-page/indicators I have not bought one, so don't know how well they work. Jim -
It was about 50 degrees F and clear yesterday, so I went for a short ride: https://www.relive.cc/view/vPv4yKYg43O Relive is a fun app for sharing drives, hikes runs; there is a free version, but it does not let you edit the movie after it's created. I subscribed to the paid version ($39/year) so that I can edit out the maximum speed that is automatically calculated and shown (exact location).

Be very careful, this is most likely a scam. I lost $13k last summer booking a condo in Park City. This ad is very similar the way the condo scam was written, including the out of the country phrase. In my case the scammer spoofed VRBO site very professionally.

Although I prefer my Caterhams with no weather equipment (in fact no windshield), in Japan I would occasionally see a Caterham with a hardtop. Here is a picture of two such cars at the annual New Years car meet at the famous Daikoku PA. Because space is so hard to find in large cities, car meets are often held in large parking areas or parking garages. I once attended a Lotus owners meting at the Haneda Airport parking garage, the owners rented a meeting room in the terminal and had a guest speaker from ReVerie Carbon Fiber give a talk. Here is link to the story that includes the picture of the hardtop Caterhams: http://www.speedhunters.com/2022/01/ringing-in-the-new-year-at-daikoku-pa/

Mike, My expense budget didn't allow for the Conrad, but parking lot always had cool cars on Sunday afternoons.

The Regular Summary of Classified Ads of Se7ens Found For Sale

Wow, I remember vising Chris Custer in 1988 to drive a rotary powered and a Toyota 4 cylinder powered car. The rotary car was really incredible in terms of HP (for 1988). -
What mirrors for use with Brooklands Aeroscreens
kayentaskier replied to Sevins7's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I suggest the choice for the center mirror should to take into account your height, the view out the back over/under the roll bar and the ability to see passenger side front wheel. I ordered my SV 420R with aero screen, lowered floors, FIA roll bar and S seats. I'm 6'3 and the standard SPA mirror blocked the passenger side front wheel. I had a friend fabricate an extension to the center mirror, see attached. Function over form. -
Here are a couple of references: https://classiccarbon.co.uk/products/grp-half-doors https://westermann-motorsport.com/en/produkte/half-doors https://www.caterhamlotus7.club/forum/chitchat/carbon-fibre-half-doors-0

I ordered mine from Oxted for my SV. I use them quite a lot to help with buffeting and reducing the stones that come into the car. I don't use them much in the summer due to the ambient heat temperatures. If I was doing it again, I might look into some of the third party CF half doors. Jim

Did you ask on BlatChat?

Chris, Check with Josh Robbins, I'm pretty sure he has some in stock. Jim

Hi Tbone, I agree most people think of bead seats as not very attractive. I don't track my car; but on both of my previous S3, I built a "foam in place" seat bottom, not a bead seat. The car was so tight for me (6'4" 220 lbs) that I didn't need the seat back. Below is a picture of the covered seat cushion. As I said, I didn't use beads I used this product: https://www.sunmatecushions.com/pages/liquid-sunmate-foam-in-place-seating My current car is an SV, with lowered floors and leather seats. Although the seats are pretty comfortable, I am just beginning the process to build a new seat cushion. I am not trying to change your mind, but thought I would post this here so that in the future if someone is searching the site for seat options, they will find this info. Good luck in finding your perfect seat.

I am a big believer in foam in place seating for the driver at least

looks great, but you're missing the seats

If you go with Redline, plan to be patient. There are recent postings on BlatChat that Chris is moving his store and as a result is slower than normal to respond.
