The Regular Summary of Classified Ads of Se7ens Found For Sale

Mike, Just a minor correction ... when I contacted Kim about the car in August 2019 he told me he owned the car outright, i.e., it was not a consignment. Jim -

Buds, Josh Robbins is installing the JAL LED rear lights on the 420R he is building for me.

If you are going to apply clear film, this site sells Caterham specific pieces. https://premierpaintguard.com/caterham_paint_protection_film.html

Although I am not building my new 420R, Josh Robbins of Rocky Mountain Caterham is, I like to follow various build blogs so I can experience the builds vicariously. One of the best blogs I have found is Chris Collins’ https://caterham420detailedbuildblog.co.uk A few days ago, Chris added the link to the latest official Caterham Duratec Assembly Guide, even more importantly, he added his own annotations. Anyone waiting for their own kit to arrive or considering ordering a Caterham will likely find Chris’ blog and the new manual interesting. Enjoy. Jim

Anyone in NorCal with standard body S3 chassis?
kayentaskier replied to KnifeySpoony's topic in General Sevens Discussion
My former Caterham is living in Campbell; I am not sure in Tanahashi-san is on this forum, but I can ask him if you can't find anyone else. It is a stardard S3 with race seat. It does not have lowered floors, which I would recommend you order. Jim -
The dealer in Sonoma is owned by Rich Kamp, a long time Lotus and Caterham expert. Rich recently had a kit for sale on ebay. I have used him to sell two Caterhams on a consignment basis. Beachman Racing and Rocky Mountain Caterham are both well respected dealers and active on this site. I have interacted with both and have always been happy with their responses and professionalism. Josh at Rocky Mountain should receive my 420R kit in about a month. See post “Last Crate out of Dartford”. As you found, the Caterham Configurator is very useful in making budget vs performance choices, but does not produce a USA price. Any of the dealers should be able to take your configuration link and give you a quote for delivery to your location. I encourage you to talk to the dealers and discuss price and delivery. The USA price is always impacted by dollar to pound exchange rate.

The Last Crate Out of Dartford

Aloha Mike, My spec, from the Caterham configurator, is below. Mine is a kit and Josh will assemble to for me. https://www.caterhamcars.com/en/configurator?pagemode=web&configuration=%2B420%2BCLB%2BBPTPBGN%2BW7I%2BIC7PCWP%2BTRI%2BDCLPWBC%2BPN0%2BLETPBLK%2BRBCPGBS%2BSZV%2BFLR%2BRPC%2BGS5%2BLSD%2BLFW%2BDSO%2BSSP%2BRAB%2BBST%2BORC%2BAOYPGRE%2BSML%2BMCP%2BINTPINM%2BDSHPDSC%2BMAP%2BCST%2BLRSPLLS%2B4PH%2BMOMPMOS%2BQRL%2BNHT%2BSSF%2BNIR%2BONC%2BOFW%2BORW%2BPIPPBLK%2BAFCPBKP%2BCPCPBKP%2BSSS%2BHHL%2BLPC%2BINPPOAW%2BESE%2BMBC%2BTRB%2BWAR%2BASNPOAW%2BHDOPITV%2BNAU%2BNRM%2BNHO%2BNBG%2BBOOPITV%2BKBT%2BNDR%2BNTK&width=1920&height=1080# Jim -
The Last Crate Out of Dartford
kayentaskier replied to Squeegee's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Hi Squeegee, I received the same info from Josh today, my kit is a 420R. Josh will be building mine with a planned finish in September. I had to google "chuffed", but now I can agree to being chufffed also. Jim -
I've been cleaning out my garage and came across the original dash plaque for my first Caterham. I sold this car on consignment through Rich Kamp in Sonoma in 2005. If the person who owns this car now would like, please PM me and I'll mail it out to you. Please describe the car so I can make sure it goes to the right person. Jim

Lowered floor, Prescription Goggles et al.
kayentaskier replied to ottocycle's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Dermot, If the lowered floors and removing the seat rails doesn’t get you low enough, you can try a bead or foam in place seat. I am 6’4” and recently ordered an SV with lowered floors and leather seats, this got me low enough. However, in my 2 previous S3s, I removed the driver’s seat completely and built a foam in place seat bottom, this effectively had my butt about an inch above the floor. The seat bottom was very comfortable, the seat back was just a 1” piece of foam, covered to match the seat bottom. For me the extra benefit of the custom seat bottom was I could create much more thigh support by extending the length past the chassis support bar. Jim -
Vlad, i can't say for sure what the practice was in 2003, but in 1999/2000 Jon Nelson sourced my Zetec locally in CO.

Free Pectel SW, Interface and laptop
kayentaskier replied to kayentaskier's topic in Parts For Sale / Wanted
Vadimir has decided he needs to use the set up, so it will be sent to him in the next couple of days. In a PM to me he suggested the idea of archiving the Descrow SW to a site that others could access. Not sure if this is possible on this forum or if it would need to be someplace else. Jim -
Free Pectel SW, Interface and laptop
kayentaskier replied to kayentaskier's topic in Parts For Sale / Wanted
OK let me know, if someone else needs it, perhaps it can just be passed around as needed. -
Two years ago, I was a member here under the name kayentaut. At that time, I was having intermittent stalling issues with my Zetec with Pectel ECU. Member catsv7 was very helpful is spec’ing the required cables and sending me the Descpro(w) software. I purchased an old Windows 95 laptop to run the SW. I no longer have the car, but after reading Vovchandr’s post about poor mileage, I thought about the laptop, cables and SW. In the end I never used this, so no guarantee it even works. If anyone has use for this, I would be happy to send it to you, all you need to do is pay shipping from San Francisco. Jim

I have sold both cars and don’t think I have pics of either dash. Now that you mention it, I think the 2000 Superlight came with wiper and heater buttons even though neither options we’re included.
-
Thanks for the responses. The Caterham UK website shows many pictures on new (current) cars with the plastic switches; which both my 2000 Superlight and 2007 Superlight R came with. As Vovchandr mentions, the plastic switches fade over time, which is why I was curious about the buttons. I realize the configuration of the dash changes with the options on the car (eg., wipers, heater, etc,).
-
I have noticed a few Caterhams with buttons on the dash instead of the more common switches; for example: http://vintageracecarsales.com/portfolio-view/2013-caterham-seven-480/ Is there any anecdotal information about which is more reliable? I don't see this change listed as option on the Caterham Configurator, so perhaps it is no longer offered. Thanks, Jim

I don't have a phone number, but here is the email I have been using to communicate with Josh: info@rockymountaincaterham.com
