Most of the units that have been mentioned use the data stream for your OBDII computer. Many of us use other systems that are not compatible. When I built my 7 I could not find one system that offered all of the data that I wanted. I will say that Motec does, but at over $10,000.00 it was out of reach. I ended up with Zieitronix for their Wideband, EGT, TPS, boost pressure and an ETB Instruments DigiDash 2 that has an 80 gig hard drive with a video input and dash display. I think that the 2 systems cost about $2500.00. The Electromotive stand alone engine management system also does some data logging. I ended up following Mazda's lead and installed a monitor in the dash. Now I have more information than I can assimilate. I think that I’m going need Mazda’s help with a computer to power the display. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/413122961_7zeitronix.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1861511737_DigiDash.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/298193792_3_2_116.gif

I look forward to going on a blat with Steve T when he buys another 7. There are several new 7 owners in the area. How many would we be looking for? :7head:

How about a Blat to your brother's place in late September? I'm leaving for the beach for 2 weeks and will not be back till late Aug.

Maz: Just wanted to let you know that I haven't forgotten. How about an extended date? http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1398405810_7-726811.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1961634939_3_2_116.gif

What choices do I have with car covers for a 7?

If the figures that have been stated in many places are anywhere near correct, the United States has an abundance of proven reserves of fossil fuels. These reserves are more than adequate to fuel our economy for generations. We are in a transitional period and need to find sources of energy that would eventually get us off of fossil fuels. I think the argument should be, what is the length of the transitional period, and what incentives should be used to expedite that period? I can’t believe that lowering our standard of living, accepting a recessionary period, is in any way compatible with the model of the American dream. We live as kings today and kings elevated their standard of living by owning or using the services of slaves and servants. The industrial revolution, fueled by fossil fuels, has raised our standard of living by using machines instead of slaves and servants to facilitate it. I don’t see what future benefit we would find in eliminating those vehicles that have enabled us to enjoy the standard of living that our forefathers have built up over the past two centuries. The best way to ensure a stable future supply of a product is to generate a continuing demand for the product. Trees are harvested and replanted by growers who know that their customers will want trees in the future to use in making various goods. In the same way, knowledge that demand for oil in the future is what spurs energy companies on to invest in the infrastructure and ability to supply energy to customers in the future. Artificially lowering the demand for energy greatly weakens this signal and reduces their incentive to invest. In 1995 I spent a week in Oshkosh enjoying the EAA fly-in. I believe that was the year that they celebrated the inception of the x-prize for the first private company to put a man into space. I thought the task was insurmountable, nothing that a small company could ever accomplish. Just a year or two ago Sealed Composites led by the brilliant entrepreneur Burt Ritan witnessed the launching of Space Ship One and accomplished that goal. Why not embrace that spirit? Man times in our history we have faced seemingly insurmountable challenges, but the American entrepreneurial spirit has more than met that challenge. I’m the type of guy that always believes that the glass is more than half full. How is the energy challenge that we face today any different than many other seemingly insurmountable challenges in our history? I believe that on November fourth, that we will make one of the largest decisions in our life when we choose who will lead us through this current tenuous period. Many of us remember the movie The Lion King. Upon the death of Mufasa, his son was not ready to lead and left the tribe. In his absence, Scar brought about darkness in the land. It was only upon the return of a leader with vision, Simba, that the kingdom was returned to a period of light and prosperity.

Many of the products that we use every day are based in oil, but that doesn't mean that we couldn't use other things like soy beans or so. I just think that we should not be myopic and put our heads in the sand. In any race someone wins, why not America?

I would like to see an energy plan that includes incentives for other forms of energy. I do not want to see our standard of living go down. Why can't it be a win, win situation? :ack:

A Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. analyst said in a report there is a lot of offshore crude that can be produced relatively quickly. The problem: It is located off California, where politicians have built careers opposing new drilling. The Minerals Management Service said that of the estimated 18 billion barrels of oil in off-limits coastal areas, almost 10 billion are off the coast of California. "California could actually start producing new oil within a year if the moratorium were lifted," the Sanford C. Bernstein report said, because the oil is under shallow water, has been explored and drilling platforms have been there since before the moratoria. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/656035063_avatar_6301.gif

The average american family uses the equivalent of 26 barrels of oil in energy every year. We use 10 for food, 9 to power our house, and only 7 for family transportation. We have yet to see the full impact of over $100 per barrel oil. :banghead:

I recently read an exposition of the "we can't drill our way out of this crisis" at woodpile report. It goes like this: ""Plans to put in crops next year have been abandoned because food is scarce now," a Dept. of Agriculture spokesman said. "This is one problem we can't plant our way out of." She pointed to promising initiatives like stomach-staples, phasing out food-guzzling bipeds and switching to alternative sources of calories such as wood chips, termites and recycled street sweepings. "Tragically," she added, "death by starvation hits the poor and minorities the hardest." Spread it around. Meet Joe American: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

This summer could be the first time in modern history that there will be no ice above the north pole. Man made warming? Volcanoes? http://www.canada.com/topics/news/story.html?id=81bb2fd3-63f1-476f-b0be-f48c0dc90304

I spent Monday thru Wednesday in Long Island, NY running cars on a dine checking fuel consumption. If people would just inflate their tires, replace filters and do a little PM it would make a great difference. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I'm 5' 10" and weigh 250 and my shoes are size 13. I fit into or should say that I put on a 7 that is a narrow book chassis. Is it your legs or body that doesn't fit?

After ALL that work, I freaking rolled it! :(
