  1. I moved mine from the shop to my garage at home. I still have not replaced the blown head gasket. Before spring I hope to put some higher lift cams in, install an addational radiator under the rear of the 7 so that I can do a track day.

  4. Maz: You didn't want to drive on those old tires anyway! http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/2060305975_willy_nilly.gif
  5. A little known fact is that after the 850 billion bailout last week the fed printed an addational 650 billion of unfunded green backs. I'm sorry that we have spent more of our kids future. That's 1.5 trillion in the past 2 weeks. :ack:
  6. Loren: Here is the link to grease car. http://www.greasecar.com/ The system works very well. I installed one for a customer about 5 years ago. To heat my shop we store 2500 gallons of waste oil in the summer. It would cost over $1000.00 per month if I had to use fuel oil. It's a nice feeling to be warm in the winter when it costs nothing. KEEP UP THE "GREAT" WORK!
  7. I raced go karts from age 13 till I was 30. A 7 is just a big go kart. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1086024008_airborn.jpg
  8. 7evin: 6psi is like a 22 and 24 psi is what you use to bag an elephant! I can't wait till we meet in Branson next year. Could you move the rear wing so that it's above your head? I just think that the "wall" gets pretty dense above 175. I'm taking the head to the machine shop for a little P&P, valve springs and cams. Going to try for 600hp to keep up with you. John Lee @ Inline Pro is having great sucess with his S2000 stroker kits! Lately I'm becoming Audiophile, building a 52 speaker Tripolar M&K surround home theater system. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1014960720_hissyfit.gif
  9. 7evin: Lower the car to minimize the air drag under the car. Going from 175 to over 200 will probably take an additional 150 hp or so. Can you run without the wings and control the car above 175? http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/253874069_leaving.gif
  10. I don't think so. When the air pump is in operation the O2 sensor is going to see an abundance of oxygen in the exhaust. That is the input that it is looking for when the pump is on. :7frog:
  11. I've said it before and I'll say it again, "The greatest strength behind 7evin is Michelle", she is the unsung hero of their team! http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1117443055_1233_hand_clapping.gif[/img] I called them 2 weeks ago for some advice and they were in a rain storm in northern Panama.

  13. After you are comfortable with the adjustments a drop of loctite does wonders.
  14. I use Phillips 55/100 H4 bulbs that I pay $8.00 each for. They work great! :7head:
  15. In second gear if you make sure that the 7 is planted, you don't really get much wheel spin. I'm not saying that you can't free wheel the tires, but that you don't have to. Turbos are very controllable. At lower rpms the 7 is very civil. Cruising on the road I get over 30 mpg. Sevens are about excitement, and you can't corner to the limit on the street, but you can in a straight line. I like a 7 that can "make point-five past light speed and make the Kessel Run in "less than twelve parsecs". Grey matter is affected by acceleration and the central nervous system is unable to keep up resulting blurred vision!
  16. I spent Thursday afternoon with (2) Electromotive Enginers data logging and tuning my 7 @ 1131 pounds dry. The end result was over 450hp @ 22 lbs. I'll let you convince them that after being able to pull away smoothly from 3rd gear at 600 rpm that it's too much hp. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/954290576_P1010843.JPG http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1855528697_leaving.gif
  17. Martin: Will this make drilling for oil irrelevant? Scientists mimic essence of plants' energy storage system Anne Trafton, News Office July 31, 2008 In a revolutionary leap that could transform solar power from a marginal, boutique alternative into a mainstream energy source, MIT researchers have overcome a major barrier to large-scale solar power: storing energy for use when the sun doesn't shine. Daniel Nocera describes new process for storing solar energy View video post on MIT TechTV Until now, solar power has been a daytime-only energy source, because storing extra solar energy for later use is prohibitively expensive and grossly inefficient. With today's announcement, MIT researchers have hit upon a simple, inexpensive, highly efficient process for storing solar energy. Requiring nothing but abundant, non-toxic natural materials, this discovery could unlock the most potent, carbon-free energy source of all: the sun. "This is the nirvana of what we've been talking about for years," said MIT's Daniel Nocera, the Henry Dreyfus Professor of Energy at MIT and senior author of a paper describing the work in the July 31 issue of Science. "Solar power has always been a limited, far-off solution. Now we can seriously think about solar power as unlimited and soon." Inspired by the photosynthesis performed by plants, Nocera and Matthew Kanan, a postdoctoral fellow in Nocera's lab, have developed an unprecedented process that will allow the sun's energy to be used to split water into hydrogen and oxygen gases. Later, the oxygen and hydrogen may be recombined inside a fuel cell, creating carbon-free electricity to power your house or your electric car, day or night. The key component in Nocera and Kanan's new process is a new catalyst that produces oxygen gas from water; another catalyst produces valuable hydrogen gas. The new catalyst consists of cobalt metal, phosphate and an electrode, placed in water. When electricity -- whether from a photovoltaic cell, a wind turbine or any other source -- runs through the electrode, the cobalt and phosphate form a thin film on the electrode, and oxygen gas is produced. Combined with another catalyst, such as platinum, that can produce hydrogen gas from water, the system can duplicate the water splitting reaction that occurs during photosynthesis. The new catalyst works at room temperature, in neutral pH water, and it's easy to set up, Nocera said. "That's why I know this is going to work. It's so easy to implement," he said. 'Giant leap' for clean energy Sunlight has the greatest potential of any power source to solve the world's energy problems, said Nocera. In one hour, enough sunlight strikes the Earth to provide the entire planet's energy needs for one year. James Barber, a leader in the study of photosynthesis who was not involved in this research, called the discovery by Nocera and Kanan a "giant leap" toward generating clean, carbon-free energy on a massive scale. "This is a major discovery with enormous implications for the future prosperity of humankind," said Barber, the Ernst Chain Professor of Biochemistry at Imperial College London. "The importance of their discovery cannot be overstated since it opens up the door for developing new technologies for energy production thus reducing our dependence for fossil fuels and addressing the global climate change problem." 'Just the beginning' Currently available electrolyzers, which split water with electricity and are often used industrially, are not suited for artificial photosynthesis because they are very expensive and require a highly basic (non-benign) environment that has little to do with the conditions under which photosynthesis operates. More engineering work needs to be done to integrate the new scientific discovery into existing photovoltaic systems, but Nocera said he is confident that such systems will become a reality. "This is just the beginning," said Nocera, principal investigator for the Solar Revolution Project funded by the Chesonis Family Foundatio
  18. Welcome to the group Sonny. I am also a Manta Mirage owner. :)
  19. I know where you're at as I have been there. It does get better with time. Very few people understand the pain that you experience when you develop a car. I hope that you do enjoy working on the car during the process as that is the trick. There is a lot of satisfaction when the 7 becomes reliable. I spent all of yesterday changing my injection system from batch fire to sequential injection and now have to spend many more hours with the new fuel mapping. Keep your chin up, you’ll get thru it. :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

Mazda, I'm getting tired of being the only 7 at the area shows. 1 is a lonely number. Would it help if I came by and let you drive mine? :ack:
  21. Yesterday I finally got my tags from DMV. The only reason is that my general manager's wife works there (thanks Jen). I thought this video might describe my experience with the DMV managment team! :banghead:
  22. If you can get them in boxer style how about a group buy? LOL
