If you want a Cadillac powered "seven" , Then the J2 Allard is already available. I always loved this car, the cycle fender were the striking element in this 50's era car. I addition, the hood bulges at the windscreens are the precursor of my Ultralite hood. It was a built from scratch car with a Ferrari V12 engine and complete ferrari drivetrain. He was a Ferrari collector. so was able to get Ferrari to sell him a brand new engine and drivetrain. Yeah, the original rotors warped, and I believe that Chevrolet makes their front rotors from tinfoil. Maybe I'm tough on front brakes, but all my Suburbans and Tahoes have used up front brakes at a rate much higher than a passenger car. They have all been 4 wheel drive, but I doubt if that makes much of a difference. I have had bad luck with Autozone replacement parts. When the Autozone rotors died, they replaced them for free. The replacement set then warped within a couple months, so I bought Wagner rotors at Advance auto, and they lasted. I had the same problem with a brake vacuum booster from Autozone. Lasted about 4 months, then died. I didn't bother to get a new one for free, as it probably would have been as crappy as the first one from Autozone. I now use Autozone ( being the closest auo parts store) , only for filters and small items, and to dispose of my drain oil. Sam's club has the best prices on Mobil One, which I use in everything.

Yep, my 1996 Tahoe had the alternator and waterpump go out ( under warranty) and the transmission blew it's guts while towing the Ultralite in my 16' enclosed trailer,( not under warranty) but I bought another Tahoe anyway. I have had 6 Suburbans& Tahoes over the years, and they have been good trucks. You forgot to mention the front rotors warping. Note to all. Do NOT replace with AutoZone rotors. Buy name brand rotors ans solve the problem the first time.

"Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity." "Really, I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven," says the senator. "I'm sorry, but we have our rules." And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him. Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people. They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and champagne. Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he realizes it, it is time to go. Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises ... The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him. "Now it's time to visit heaven." So, 24 hours pass with the senator joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns. "Well, then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity." The senator reflects for a minute, then answers: "Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell." So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage. He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above... The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder. "I don't understand," stammers the senator. "Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there's just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?" The devil looks at him, smiles and says....... "Yesterday we were campaigning. Today you voted."

I believe the government should guard the shores and deliver the mail, and get the hell out of my life. It's not the government's money, it's OUR money, and I want to keep it. I suggest the way to a balanced budget is to lower the taxes on people and businesses, and to eliminate many government programs. As to previous comments: The Constitution and particularly the Bill of Rights is specifically a RESTRAINT of government, to prevent it's abuse of the citizens, so I too, find it very scary that a candidate feels the government needs more power or direction. The direction is stated in the Preamble "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, ensure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." The tenth amendment limits the powers with " The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people", so it is very clear that the government has all the power and direction it needs. As to the Supreme Court not addressing the redistribution of wealth, it is not the Court's job. Roads are financed in general by local gas taxes and local taxes, and are built by the states, and are not a Federal item unless an Interstate, so the president doesn't get involved. The Fed tax on gas is 18.4 cents per gallon. State taxes range from 8 cents in Alaska (few roads) to 44.5 cents in New York. Teachers salaries are set by neighborhood school districts, which in the US are traditionally funded by local property taxes, so it is a LOCAL issue not a Federal issue, so the President isn't involved. If your local teachers are not doing OK, elect a school board who will give them more money, but please don't ask me for money to fix your local problem. I can't argue with the vets getting the best care they can get. I suggest you vote for the Representative, Senator and President that are truly in sync with the veterans needs. I also feel no resentment to those at the top of the pyramid, they either earned it or inherited it, and they pay the majority of taxes. I would love to earn or inherit a lot of money. I know I cannot inherit it, but there is opportunity to earn it. The top 1% pay 34.3% (adjusted gross income of about $300,000 or higher) The top 5% pay 54.4% ( AGI $150,000 or higher) The top 10% pay 65.8% (adjusted gross income of about $95,000 or higher) The top 25% pay 83.88% of federal income taxes (AGI $65,000 or higher) The top 50% of income earners pay 96.5% of federal income taxes, while the lower 50% pay just 3.5%. ( AGI $32,00 & higher) I propose that those who make over $95,000 do NOT consume or receive 65.8% of the federal "benefits". As to not discussing politics, while I may disagree with some of the ideas previously presented in this thread, I respect and understand that those proposing and believing in them have every right to do so. There is no reason to make an enemy of a person with an opposing view. Differences in the philosopy of government are opportunities for reasoned discussion, not for arguments or personal attacks.

Mazda: Could it be that pictures are the problem? It seems that when people upload pics, the tend to use their high def pics. Could the site convert the high def to 800 X 600 and store that pic? This would give plenty of resolution for viewing the website, and reduce bandwidth in general. EDIT: I just tried the link without the www, and it is mucho faster. I don't know what you did but it is really good. Keep up the good work.

Glad to see Dennis's response in this forum. I started to read the locost forum thread, but stopped when I grew weary of the "experts" analyzing the design and failure by viewing pictures alone. The whole idea of the Stalker designer hiding a problem is simply unbeliveable. If any of those guys who concluded the design was unsafe had ever watched Dennis or Justin on a road course driving his design, they would be astounded at his cojones and his car's abilities. Dennis is a straightforward guy who wil assist you in any way he can. Those of us who know him understand that. If you have a problem with your kit car, the FIRST step is TALK TO THE KIT MANUFACTURER. He likely knows more about the car than you do, and has heard most of the comments relating to his car. Communicating with other similar car owners will also help, after you have talked to the manufacturer. Once you start knocking a product on a forum, you are directly attacking the manufacturer's product and his personal reputation. Would you do that face to face with him in public ? Fortunately the discourse on this forum has been gentlemanly and will hopefully stay that way. Also, don't forget that with the Chapman philosophy of "add lightness" a typical Seven is just barely strong enough to do the job. With heavy use, bumps and occasional abuse, they will break. After all, most of the forum threads have to do with working on or repairing these cars.

good idea. The high mounted brakelight is almost necessary on a seven, as people tend to look right over you.

My wife and I took the Ultralite out to one of the local wineries yesterday. We had some wine, cheese and salame, and listened to the blues band. It was a gorgeous day, in the 80's, slightly cloudy. It was about 120 miles round trip, trees just starting to turn, and I could not imagine a better day in a Seven :d

Today, Friday at Run N Gun, was road course day. All of the sevens were doing well. I don't have the times but they will be published on the run n Gun website eventually. Tonight is the awards banquet, and tomorrow is the drags and Top Gun awards. Paul Snyder drove in in his beautiful Red and silver Ultralite with a wood dash and full leather interior. Jack: We missed you this year. but with the Snyders and Brinkerhoffs, the Indianapolis area was well represented. Paul is bringing his Ultralite to the track today. I would say there were about the same number of cars competing, but there were probably 20 or 25 more "display" cars in manufacturers row. Several big double deck trailers full of Mongooses and Cobras, a guy with 7 or 8 GM crate engines on display, several parts vendors. Overall , a lot more stuff to see. More road racing all day today, and tomorrow is the drags.

Well a couple days have gone by at Run N Gun. Yesterday was a test and tune day, and today was road corse and Autocross. Lots of Cobras and GT40's, Monngooses, Dragons etc. You know, the typical twin turbo 1000hp LS7 types. The reason for these high hp cars is to compete with another group of impressive cars, the SEVENS. There were 12 sevens in attendance. 4 WCM Ultralites, and 8 Stalkers. I was one of the Ultralites, but was observing, not competing ( My wall is so full of trophies, I don't have any more room) Here is the Ultralight S2K-R brought by Chris Porter, which he recently acquired. Chuck is the Ohio region SCCA DMOD champ, and you can see he means business with this set of wheels. It's a supercharged honda s2000 running on E-85 ethanol. The paint on the S1's (and Cobras) that I have seen from Superformance were all superb. Removing it to spend a lifetime of maintaining bare aluminum sounds like a step backwards.

The triathlon for Kit Cars is here again. 4 days, with a class on chassis set-up with corner weighting scales, road course, autocross and drags. Who will be the Overall Top Dog? Cobras, Sevens, Ultimas, Mongooses ( Mongeese?), Austin Healys, Dragons, GT40s, & Daytona Coupes are among the various kit cars that will be competing. It is always a ton of fun. Bring your seven, and kick some Cobra butt!!! The road course will be run with a group that matches your speed and experience level. Transponders will be issued for each car, so every lap you run will be for time. Lots of track time, last year some guys ran 200 laps. Autocross is by engine and tire class, as are the drags. Sevens Party during Run N Gun I am again hosting a party on Thursday night, Oct 9, 2008 for all Run N Gun sevens drivers and their pit crew, seven spectators, and those local sevens guys who can’t make it to Run N Gun. The party will run from around 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm, as there is a drivers meeting at 8:00am the next day. There will be sandwiches and side dishes, snacks, beer, wine and soda, so you don’t have to have dinner before you arrive. Dress is casual, and if you want to come in your track outfit, that’s fine. This is an opportunity to meet and talk to sevens guys, and for the drivers to compare lines, compare setups, and in general, tell lies about why they aren’t in first place. We have had a good time in prior years, with owners of differing marques getting a chance to meet one another. I will need to plan for the amount of food and drinks to lay in, so if you are coming, I ask you to reply to me in an email, stating your name, type of seven, and number of people in your group.
