I added a set of mudflaps to the bottom of the front fenders. It didn't do much to stop the gravel in the car, and actually made it worse. The gravel would hit the flap, bounce around between the tire and fender, and come SHOOTING out the FRONT of the fender. Now the gravel would hit me in the face. I removed the flaps.

I would not like th engine and mounts to take the blows of big rocks, whereas the skid pan directs those forces to the frame, not the engine.

Help, I don't know how to insert a pic. When I click on "insert image" I get a box to "type in the URL orf my image" I was looking for a way to upload it from my computer, like the old forum software. I can upload a pic as an attachment. Is this the only way?

It was parked next to my Ultralite at the 2008 KC All British Car show. I didn't get a lot of time to look at it but it was clean.

Thanks, John, but Edit Options does not work. I even erased my cookies & temp internet files, and re-logged on, but it still does the same thing. I am going to redefine the problem. I found out that all the thread groups, like General Tech, or Cars for Sale-Wanted, work OK, and show up with the last post at the top.....EXCEPT General Sevens Discussion. whenever I click on it , it comes up as "sorted by thread title, ascending" and if I change it , and leave, then return to General Sevens Discussion, it defaults back to "sorted by thread title ,ascending" The other thread groups do not reset themselves, they work OK. Wierd eh?

I have a question on display options. each time I go to a section, for example "General Sevens Discussion" and click on it, the threads are displayed as "sorted by thread title" "sort order ascending". So I change that to "sorted by last post time" and "descending", so it is like the original forum. But it wont stay that way :( The next time I open the forum, I am presented with it sorted by thread title. Is there a way to lock in my preferences?

I tried a thin skip plate , just to prevent sanding away the bottom of the pan, but I backed over something that caught it, and I had to remove it. After seeing Mondo's skid plate, I may try something like that.

I wish I could be your neighbor, but It's $9.88 million, and I can only get about $9.85 million together without selling my Seven.

Daniel: Welcome to the USA7s site, and welcome to the Ultralite fraternity. The various replies indicate that there is some room for variations on wheel offset. I run 35mm offset front and rear, 225/45/17 front ( 7.5 wide rim) and 245/45/17 rear ( 8.0 wide), with Falken Azenis RT615's. keep us up to date as you get the car ready for the road. I love the color of your car.

What a great idea. I'm now looking for some big tractor tires, 5 foot long shocks, and a huge American flag to put on the back of my Ultralight. I may repaint it with the name "littlefoot" on the sides. Maybe I can jump over 7 sevens at Log 29. Any volunteers? :jester: :jester:

JeffC: I am going to encourage you to visit Brian Anderson at World Class Motorsports, the builder of the Ultralite S2k. He is in Lancaster TX, only about 3 hours from you. I built an Ultralite kit, and I am very happy with it. There is no welding, and the frame is powdercoated, and it comes with the skins installed. The Honda S2000 is a great, reliable and bulletproof motor and transmission. My S2000 drivetrain was from a wrecked car, and I have never had to do anything to it except change the oil. The component parts of the kit can all be sourced in the USA, and easily available. The other thing I like about it is the suspension is all adjustable, with metal heim joints, no rubber bushings. In the rear is a 10 link IRS with a Subaru limited slip diff. see WCM The previous replies that suggested you sit or ride in several sevens is of primary importance. First, you have to fit in it comfortably. ( I can't do that in a standard sized Cat or Birkin) You have to evaluate the seating and driving positions, and how you feel about the appearance of the car. This will give you a chance to consider if you want the Lotus provenance, or a departure from the classic shape is agreeable to you. You also need to consider the general use. If you are racing, then insure the rollbars will meet the specifications. You may need to consider weather gear, if you plan to use it in all weather and longer trips, or if you don't mind getting a litte wet at times, no top is needed. ( I have had my S2k for 4 years, I don't have a top and only got caught in the rain once, at the USA7s gathering at the Tail Of The Dragon ) All the available kit models will deliver a solid, fun car. You, the builder, will determine the ultimate appearance, quality and reliability. I was in the same position as you are, I wanted to build a car, didn't want a lot of metal cutting and welding. I looked at Cobras, and hot rods, and settled on a Seven. That was the smartest thing I did. The building (assembling) of a kit car is one of the most enjoyable things I have done, and at the completion, you have that great sense of accomplishment. I did not even consider buying a completed car. So, look at them all, sit in them, drive them ,and whatever you decide upon will be a great choice, because it's a Seven. :7head:

Steve: I have an ultrasonic cleaner that I use to clean handguns. I put a $1000+ Colt Gold Cup National Match 45 in it, and have had no problems. I use a soap solution, and subsequently use a oil coat to protect the metal. I would not expect any problem with the carb parts. You are always welcome to use my cleaner.

It is way to busy, rather ugly, but I like the blown Honda engine.
