With all these big numbers flying around this thread, I am definitely not the fastest, but here are my numbers. My best 1/4 mile time was 12.687 @ 108.57 mph. My car is a stock Ultralite with a stock Honda S2000 2.0 liter, running Falken Azenis street tires. I looked at some time sheets, and no matter the elapsed time, I am always in the 106 to 108 mph area. I need to change gear ratios to change that I guess. Elapsed time would be helped by stickier tires, and more experience. In my few attempts at Run & Gun, I learned that drag racing isn't easy. The fast guys have a lot of skills and knowledge, and it makes a difference in their ET's. What psi to run, where to drop the clutch, whether to use the waterbox or not, what rpm to make your shift, etc. I learned to go when the last green light lit, but I could not always control my right foot. Somtimes the wheels would spin, but my brain could not get my right foot to ease up.... result is lots-o-smoke but lousy times. I got beat by in-my-class cars, and out-of-my-class cars, by sevens, and by Cobras and vettes, but I also beat a few of each of those, and had a lot of fun. The finest moment was during the bracket racing, I had 12.9 dialed in, and I am in the staging lane next to a Cobra. The guy looks down at my windshield and says to me " I didn't think those LITTLE cars are that fast". I replied, "sometimes they even beat the BIG cars", and then I proceeded to beat him.... it made my day. :)

Great video Kevin. It looks like last year was a tough but successful season. I didn't realize you had all those display stops to make in addition to the race work. You guys must have been worn out. Lets hope the new Ultralite runs trouble free. With all that horsepower, you guys will definitely be pushing the envelope. Good Luck!!

It's hard to pick just one "favorite", so here's a few. The first three I call "Dueling Orange Sevens" or " Almost a 7 T-Bone" The wet autocross picture is by Dale Arment, the Tail of the Dragon pic is by Killboy. The rest are some I happen to like, and might work on a calendar http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1440825932_DSC_4430crop (Medium).jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/524612745_DSC_4431crop (Medium).jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1996925352_DSC_4432crop (Medium).jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1462930707_Autocross2005adj (Medium).jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/424165102_img_6577adj_edited-2 (Medium).jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1079115217_DSCF2600adj_edited-1 (Medium).jpg http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/238725413_DSCF2707 (Medium).jpg

If the dark look with white text is not to your liking...

:d :d :d I am SOOOOO happy that Mazda has again performed a miracle, and allowed each of us to select the appearance that we prefer. Which one is the old one? ( short memory span) I am reset to Standard, and I think that's it. Thanks again Mazda..... YOU DA MAN :hurray: :hurray: :hurray: -
As long as we are hijacking this thread, I rode a Greeves in trials ( that shows you how OLD i am) and a Husquvarna in enduros.

I know that Mazda works his butt off on this website, and we all greatly appreciate his unpaid efforts...... But there is no way to sugar coat this; I don't like it. It is extremely hard to read. There is a reason books are white with black type. Please return to the old format, or give us an alternative look selected in our profiles. ( if possible, and isn't too much work) I am still getting the old top of the page pic, and no ads, so I will clear my cache of all sites and re log on to see what happens. EDIT: I should not have said I don't like it, I meant to say, I don't like that it is diffiult to read. I like the new headline pics, and the ads are fine with me, it's all about legibility. I cleared all my Internet history and cookies, and now I see the page correctly. EDIT #2: I changed the appearance in My Profiles per Mazda's instructions, and now I am happy as a clam.

Racer Dan; Welcome to the USA7s group. Building a car is the perfect after retirement "job" . I did it, and it keeps you busy, while you learn the basics of retirement, i.e., if you don't get it done today, you can work on it tomorrow.....or not. If you havent yet contacted Dennis Brunton at Stalker, do so before you collect too many parts. He will send you in the right direction, and hook you up with other Stalker owners.

At least the driver's door still works OK

I corner weighted my Ultralite last year, and after subtracting my weight, the car is 1410 pounds with an almost full tank ( approx 13 gallons).

Looking for a radiator fan switch for my Lotus S4
powderbrake replied to snettleship's topic in General Tech
Here is a link to JEG"S line of temp control products. All temp products These sensors are off-on switches, you need to insure the radiator is grounded, then the signal lead goes to a fan relay which is wired to turn the fan on and off. pn 555-10562 and 555-10563 for the sensors alone. JEGS SENSORS I installed a radiator probe type adjustable sensor on my car it was this one probe type sensor Jegs gives very fast service and their prices are generally good. -
Yes it was 588 yards. I finally cracked the 500 Yard Club of Varmint Hunters Association. Of course that is the lowest classification. They have 1000, 1500 and 2000 yard classes as well. I can't imagine hitting one at 2000 yards. For example the one I hit was at 588 yards (laser measurement), and with a 22-250 55 grain bullet at 3450 feet per second, the bullet drop is about 65 inches from my 200 yard zero point, and the wind drift that day was about 30 inches. I wish I could say I hit on the first shot, but it took about 5 shots to dial it in.

Interesting thing about red light cameras, they are touted to increase safety, but ( in my area) they are NOT put up at the most dangerous intersections. They are just there for the $$$$$$. A state politician is pushing a bill that would give all fines to the schools. He claims "if it's really about safety, and not about $ then give the income to the schools." Of course, the officials of the various communities with red light cameras are shouting him down. It probably wouldn't work anyway. When we brought Riverboat gambling into Missouri, the gaming revenues were earmarkedfor the schools, and so, it passed. Guess what...... the state decreased the old funding to the schools to the tune of the gambling revenues, so not net increase to the schools. Also, they can now build the "riverboat" in a lagoon that is 1000 feet from the river, and connect to the river with an underground pipe. The casino is built on a barge that floats in the "lagoon". If you go into one ( and we have 3 in St.Louis area) you cannot tell when you are in the casino or in the attached hotels and restaurants, it all looks and feels like a regular building. I don't think the Casinos add much to the area, I only visit them about once or twice a year. I take my $ and see how long it lasts, and consider it monet spent on a form of entertainment, not an opportunity to increase my $.

I used to attribute the government harrassment in the UK to the difference between being a subject and being a citizen, but now the cameras are proliferating here. Interestingly, the city of St.Louis has a few traffic cameras, and it's $100 a pop. However someone just realized there is no ordinance requiring you to pay the fine. Perfect example of government at work. All they want is the money. Thank Goodness that I don't actually live in the city of St.Louis, the government there is a real circle jerk.

Cool.... New toys !! Enjoy!! I have no real need for a plasma cutter, but it would be fun. Heck , I don't NEED my TIG machine, but it is a lot of fun.

That doesn't spin me up. That is an opinion you have that I may not agree with, but you are free to vote in the politicians that may do that. I personally believe it would be a scary country to live in, with likely even more spaced out users than we have now. But....... there are NO amendments specifically granting drug rights to the people, whereas there IS one that grants gun rights to the people. ps. I don't have you in my sights, it's safe to come out now. This is political discourse, which should be done in a gentlemanly fashion. If in the end we cannot agree, then we agree to disagree.

The routes are 200 miles because we have found this to be a good day's drive with rest and food and gas stops. There is no reason that the drives could not be shorter. There is a lot of traffic in the immediate Branson area, as well as innumerable cabins and resorts with their associtated kids, so spirited driving needs to be a few ( 5 to 10 miles) out of downtown Branson.

There have been several comments regarding the "militia". Bear in mind the militia was the armed citizens, NOT a state or federal guard or organized military unit. The reference to the milita always means an armed citizenry. To quote Benjamin Franklin.." It is always dangerous to the liberties of the people to have an army stationed amoung them over which they have no control. The Militia is composed of the Free cirtizens. There is therefore no danger of their making the use of their power to the destruction of their own rights" The concept that the militia ( the armed citizenry)could NOT oppose a standing army is as false now as it was in the founder's days. Noah Webster stated "... the supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword, because the whole body of the prople are armed...." Protection from their own government was a primary driving force of the Founders, as well as the insuring of the rights of the people. There was no question in the Founder's minds whan the wrote the constitution and the Bill of Rights, that there were specific rights of the people. The reference to the rights of the people in the Second amendment are echoed in the First, Fourth, Ninth and Tenth amendments. these were specific to the people, NOT the STATE, as the states rights generally were restricted by the Bill of rights. I surely hope the Supreme Court rules that the DC possesion law is unconstitutional, and I hope that leads to the elimination of the various cities foolish gun bans, as well as the establishment of "Gun Free Zones" like schools. They should be referred to as "It's OK for the criminal to shoot because everyone is unarmed zones" Comment to Davemk1.. I absolutely agree with you that a person within 5 feet could disarm another person. The police generally draw the line at 7 yards as being the zone in which the officer is danger of being disarmed, injured or killed. That is the reason that I would not let a person get within 5 feet of me if I had to draw my gun for defense. I cannot imagine pulling out my gun if I wasn't planning on pulling the trigger. Could I do it? I don't know for sure, as the situation has never occured. I like to think what training and practicing I have done would help me make the correct choice in a dangerous situation. Thought for the day: An armed society is a polite society

They forgot to show the part where they perforate the bottom of the engine, to create the famous oil leaks.

It looks a lot better than an Atom. Lets see now................................ if I grab the nose of my Ultralite, and stretcccch it out........... then move my 240hp engine to the rear, add some shiny metal, and some carbon fibre decals,..........I now have the same car with 10 less hp, but 200+ lbs less weight. Anybody want to buy it at half price.....$125,000?

I place the ramps under the rear of the door. I cut off the bumps from the top of the ramps( which are there to keep you from driving off them) because the would dent the rear of the door. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/960614417_Ramps.JPG

The low hauler is a great solution for taking your seven, and having security and a dry car when you arrive. I also have a 7 X 14 twin axle with electric brakes, but I have the tall one. I needed a trailer in a hurry, and couldn't get a low hauler in time, so I took the tall one. I can stand up in it, so no bumps on my head, unless you count going out the side door. The 7 X 14 gives a couple feet in front for tools, gas cans, jack etc. I have a tip for the sevens user with a ramp door trailer. Go to Wal Mart and buy a set of plastic ramps. ( I cut the bump off the tops of the ramps.) They prevent the car from scraping the bottom when the wheels are on the trailer floor and on the ramp. They fit under your ramp door, and store nicely under the rear of the seven when it is loaded. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1876913029_IMGP4887.JPG

Having just the brooklands screens, and since I wear prescription glasses, I ALWAYS wear "Over The Glasses" style Motocross goggles. Motocross goggles are designed to provide all the features you need in a Seven. Full covrage, impact resistance, adequate airflow to prevent fogging, easily interchangeable lenses, tinted lenses, and they are reasonable priced, about $35. Scott OTG glasses For colder or rainy weather, the leather "snoopy" cap is perfect, and you can wear it over a baseball cap to provide some shade for the eyes. Available here for $17. snoopy cap I keep a spare set of goggles and a cap for the passenger in the car. You only have one set of eyes...... protect them!!!
