  1. I'm more impressed by how our spindly chassis and thin rollbars are so strong.
  2. On modern 420/620 the oil cooler cooler is mounted below the water rad. It's very small but the oil is still overcooled in all but the most demanding track situations (ie high ambient temps and nose/tail drafting).
  3. Update: new o2 sensor and problem seems solved.
  4. I'll be honest, I'm not sure how to rig such a thing up. Please post pics!
  5. Apparently a common issue. There's a few threads on blatchat and this one just recently on pistonheads: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=2032116
  6. At first i only saw the listing for 6000 minimum, but now i see the single orders one. Thx.
  7. Do you have a source for econoseal pins? I've had a heck of time finding them in quantities of less than 1000, or without also having to buy a bunch of connectors I don't need.
  8. I'm not as pessimistic. I think they're just trying to size up to meet current demand, not try to really grow or change the market. I do wonder if the EU exemption for low volume ICE cars has catalyzed the decision to move.
  9. Yes tons on hoses (coolant and oil). I've seen many racecars (even LMP cars etc) with zipties on coolant hoses and oil lines). Pretty sure it's not an issue...
  10. I don't see anything wrong with using the standard black UV rated zip ties. I think they can easily handle the heat. My car is 17% by weight zip ties and I haven't seen any issues.
  11. 1750 is very high. Mine idles around 1100. Another common problem is tachs reading high or low. Also another problem that Caterham doesn't know how to fix. If your tach seems off, check the dip switches on the gauge itself to make sure they're set correctly. The info is on this forum; should be easy to find with a search.
  12. If you have the cable to hook up to easimap you can set the idle voltage there, or just read off the back of the plug and set to 4.62V (as per above instruction). I will say that I never adjusted the air bleed screws however.
  13. The new roller barrel tune is designed for use with the standard black injectors. However, neither Caterham nor its dealers seem to know this somehow... My roller barrel kit, new in 2021, came with the green injectors. I installed them as well because no one told me not to lol.
  14. My guess is you have the green injectors in? If so, go back to the standard black injectors.
  15. I think I got mine on amazon. It was a nice super thick grommet - which I think is a good idea in that location given the heat.
  16. Yeah you will have to cut a hole in the heat shield and acquire a 2" grommet.
  17. Fyi pretty easy to fill trans through the access grommet in driver footwell. I use one of those cheap screw on fluid pumps.
  18. I see that one of your engine mount to chassis bolts is longer than the other 3. I thought I was the only one.
  19. Traditionally the goal is to balance cross (diagonal) weights to aid in handling balance/symmetry. However it seems that some of the UK 7 people prefer to balance the front wheels so that they both lock at the same time. Without the advantage of ABS, we will almost always get the passenger front wheel locking first. Balancing fronts in theory will give slightly more braking performance. I haven't bothered with any kind of corner weighting on my car and i don't notice any ill handling.
  20. I don't think I've ever sworn so much in my life.
  21. Stop stop, you're giving me flashbacks!
  22. I like the concept of a budget DIY Atom, but the dynamics of a transverse mid-engined car vs a front-engined car are very different so I don't see it as being in the same space as an Atom. Although they may seem similar in concept, in actual driving experience they are quite different. I suppose if you just want something open/minimal to cruise around in they would be similar, but driving style and limit behavior will be vastly different.
  23. If you're gonna use velcro though, then why bother with a bracket at all?
  24. My only concern with that setup is the rigidity of that bracket; I'd worry about it flexing/flopping back and forth and damaging the paint. Although, the paint being damaged is behind the plate, so who really cares...
  25. I did the super strong velcro stuff. I put small squares of ppf under the velcro squares in case the adhesive is strong enough to damage the paint.
