  1. On a modern Caterham, the ride height is similar if you opt for the track rate springs. Even with perch all the way down the ride height is very high in the rear. I actually took out the locking collar to allow the perch to go even lower to get a lower ride height and optimal rake.
  2. Thanks for the diagram. So I guess the lambda is self-powered? No need to check for proper voltage. Just check for wire continuity for signal and ground at the ECU plug? I haven't done any sleuthing in the ECU. However, the car used to run perfect with the OEM sensor for quite some time. So I can only assume it was functioning at one point.

  4. I tried unplugging the new sensor and the car runs exactly the same. So clearly my new 02 sensor is not doing anything. So it seems to me that either it's 1: sensor is DOA, 2: it's incompatible (it's a Bosch sensor that used to be included with r400/420R not the no-name sensor my kit came with), 3: the wiring from the sensor to the ECU has gone bad, or 4: the ECU has gone bad. Seems like sensor logging wouldn't be that valuable at this point. I suppose I should check wiring continuity; how to do this? Multimeter at sensor plug and at ECU plug? What pins go where? I could also put the OEM sensor back in and see if the behavior reverts or stays the same.
  5. Yeah a quick internet search will reveal that many people don't believe in it at all. I was skeptical as well until experiencing it first hand.
  6. In my case it was 100% the springs, as there was no rubber or bushings to break in.
  7. I think you really need to drive the car and get the springs compressing a bit to let them settle. I don't know how long it really takes, but I can say that I put new springs on my exige, drove around my neighborhood for around 20minutes, thinking that would be enough. I had it corner balanced, then did a trackday. After the trackday the springs had settled by over a centimeter.
  8. I would let the springs settle prior to adjustment - I know that the topic of springs settling is controversial, but I have seen it first hand and it can be significant.

  10. I guess I never updated this thread with my solution, which has been working perfectly. The tie-down is probably overkill in terms of strength for such a light battery, but I am a bit paranoid. Also, I still lost a total of 16lbs from the OEM setup.

  12. These are high dollar actual replicas, not donor car/kit car frankensteins. They are visually and mechanically identical to the actual $30M cars that they have at home. They commission a $1M replica to go racing at goodwood.

  14. I went last year, it was awesome. I stayed in Winchester the night before, but I was on a 2 week roadtrip at the time. Got grandstand seats which were nice to have. There's so much to see, you can't really do it all in one day. It's bigger than Disneyland.
  15. If you're a biker, I assume you do basic motorcycle maintenance? If you do oil changes/chain maintenance/etc, you can probably maintain a 7 on your own with minimal new tools needed.
  16. If you plan on doing literally no wrenching on the car, I'd advise having a plan on who will service/repair/troubleshoot/look over the car once you own it. These cars need more care and feeding than a "normal" car.

  18. Of all the issues one can have with a 7, I wouldn't consider cockpit heat a "major" issue. There are many comfort/practicality/reliability/etc sacrifices made with owning a 7. Being a little hot inside is just another in a long list. The newer cars (ie all 420Rs) have insulation on the tunnel/footwells from the factory. I think most of the chatter on wrapping headers is on RHD duratec cars, as the exhaust puts more heat onto their driver's side. Please post a pic of your dream configurator spec...
  19. I have an ATX12 in my 420R without issues.
  20. Keep an eye on the position of the tire on the rim - if you're tracking it, you'll probably see that the tire walks on the rim. Because of this some people just static balance the wheel, then never balance again with the tire on, as the balance will shift over time. Obviously, you could rebalance after every trackday if you wanted too.
  21. Well.. It's kinda solved but now there's a new symptom. Now the 5-20% throttle range is smooth, but from 0-3%, ie initial tip-in there is hesitation/sputtering/misfire. And it does it immediately after starting even when cold. Car starts instantly and idles fine. Giving it verrry slight throttle will cause it to sputter/miss. More throttle and it revs fine. Interesting the drastic change in behavior with the new 02 sensor but not sure how to interpret. I'm thinking the 02 sensor isn't even active when the car is freshly started so I don't understand why the new sensor would cause this behavior. I'm going to triple check the TPS voltage, roller idle spacing, sparkplugs, etc.
