  1. yeah, I was expecting to meet you somewhere on 66. no point in doing extra interstate driving
  2. i've hit 100 VERY briefly a couple of times accidentally, just merging on to an empty highway. actually, i didn't know I did it, but my speedo at the time had a max indicator, and after the drive i saw where it was :nonod: nothing fell off, and it still accelerates like a mofo at that speed.
  3. heh, my Rotus even has Camaro drivetrain in it, and still no love for me from Papa.
  4. Alright Al. I dare you to show up at my house with your Seven in time for the Snow Shoe trip
  5. man, he's totally leaving us hangin' here
  6. Dean, this is a pretty informal - mostly driving - event. This is how we did it last time - this time will be pretty much the same. Met at the Gaithersburg meeting point at 8 AM and left around 8:15. Picked up Scott L. and Bob along the way at a McDonalds on 66W. Then met up with Steve T in Harrisonburg around 11 (took a different path that time). Then headed into the mountains. Made it to Snow Shoe around 4 (this time we are taking a shorter route). I brought the Steaks. I forget who brought the beer. We had a BBQ by a camp fire, some of us took a hike up the property in the mountains, others just sat around and talked. We stayed at my brother's place (4 bedrooms and a couple of couches for sleeping accomodations). Got up in the morning, had breakfast at a local joint, and headed back to civilization. The one difference this time is that my brother's house may be undergoing renovations (at this point it does not look like that will start till after labor day weekend). If it did, there is a small motel directly across the street where we can crash. We can still use the property, park our cars there, etc... This is all off if they call for rain on that weekend.
  7. I think he said screw the old school stuff, give me a V8 :jester:
  8. Dean, we need to come up with a meeting point and time on Saturday morning. Are you planning on coming up 95 to 17 to manasas and across 66, or 64 to 81 and up, or some other route? A number of us will meet up in MD and caravan from there. I will get a definite on accomodations in the next few days.
  9. beautiful.
  10. I think he means a non-leaking box, not that his box no longer has any fluid in it.
  11. good find Martin
  12. Not answering your question here, but I think the car will be safer to drive if it has a SLIGHT understeer at the limit in corners. You can get rid of the understeer by either slightly lifting off or slightly accelerating to control the car. If the car oversteers when driven through a corner, it'll be a handful as it'll be difficult to change its attitude with the throttle, unless you have a stiff limited slip unit which could make the car push when torque is applied.

    McLaren F1

I have not watched these since I'm at work, but they should be really good. Enjoy. http://www.autoblog.com/2009/08/13/video-mclaren-at-le-mans-pursuit-of-perfection/
  14. Dean, bring it along
  15. the day after we leave it's too late
  16.
  17. once this fix is done, put a deflector in front of the rear fender. don't have a pic, but basically a bar that goes from the body to the outside of the fender at 45 degrees to drive the cone out of the way and minimize impact forces.
  18. since the sale is final... whose car was this? I don't recall seeing it around here.
  19. despite 98 degree heat today, decided to take Frankn7 to work. last night, i finally got around to ripping a bunch of old CD's on my iphone, so I was listening to random songs going down the road. My daily commute is mostly through winding tree covered back roads, which are particularly enjoyable in the seven when traffic is light. Anyway, I'm not a big country music fan, but John Denver's "Country Road" popped up, and seemed to match my mood perfectly. Lazily rolling through the corners with the V8 rumbling and steamrollers eatin' up the road... it was one of those drives where I wish I could just keep going. Then I hit the beltway and came back to reality again. :leaving:
  20. particularly your seven is pretty special
  21. heh, i could see how that could happen
  22. wonder if those things come with a quiafe reversing gear box
  23. There is one, but he is not active on the forum. His name is Russell. He is near Baltimore. I will PM you his email...
  24. wonder how many transmissions comes with it. TKO500 is a stout box, but he is implying (without actual numbers) that he'll easily exceed 1000 hp
