i like the concept.. but who here weighs only 150 lbs? i am not out of shape, or a large guy but sheesh! needs to be painted like a shark! i always thought a street legal formula ford would be fun..)

Formula 1 racing is sorta like watching playboy channel.. kinda fun to look at but so unrealistic i have a hard time relating. the technology is phenominal.. but is it exciting? i have an old slot car track at home, and the cars have little magnets in them...they cannot come off the track even upside down, so you hold down the controller and it becomes boring. for open wheel, i MUCH rather enjoy watching a good formula ford race.. (matter of fact, would be fun to race one.)

What ever happened to the jaguar F1 team? they kinda vaporized after a season it seems. well it will be nice to hear the name lotus in this class of racing again.. but i wonder, will the cars carry a lotus badge? curious what the color scheme might be? will the cars have as many wings as a se7en autocross car? (sorry,,,hehehehe)

Sorry to hear this, from what we see, the car is wonderful, and creating it not short of bearing a child.. would hate to see you go! -
Comical approach for more traction in my MEGABUSA?

Just drink a red bull, doesnt that give you wings? -
yeah thats what the guys at work are telling me. and..people pay to go choke on the fumes. i guess i am in the minority. le-mans was won with deisel engines...they didnt do this. or it would have been the 24 hrs of le smog...

battery report: got the pc680 installed. installation was very easy and i only had to make a new holdown bracket. total weight savings was only about 3 lbs. including the holdown replacing the old style. ((the tractor battery i had was lighter than i thought.)) After a 150 mile weekend including running lights and city traffic, the car starts well, and seems to charge well. so far so good!

This weekend i was witness to a shocking display of environmental terrorism. Truck and Tractor pulls at the local (wayne county ohio) fair. Dont get me wrong, i am not a tree hugger, i drive a old british engine around so i am guilty too.. However i have my lotus running as lean as i can, and i have spent money and time to try and stop the oil leaks.. but these deisel trucks and tractors were disgusting. Tornado's of black hydrocarbons exploding out of the deisel powered vehicles had the crowds choking and gasping. they were using 2-3 cans of ether to keep them going and people had to leave the area. they leaved trails of quarts of oil on the ground. Trenia has to even throw away a new t-shirt because of the oily soot that came down. Was this really neccissary? i was just as thrilled at the gas and alchohol powered machinery without having to gag while watching them! was part of the excitment watching fairgrounds get polluted? i wouldnt want the events to stop, i understand and appreciate the thrill of this motorsport (although it's nothing i would do with the lotus...LMAO). but the pollution was shamefull. frightingly, the raw pollution gives motorsports a bad name, thats not cool at all!

A look a a new ECO Elise-Lean-Speedy and Green

The interior is neat as well, using wool instead of leather! i never liked leather or vinyl seats..always prefered cloth. perhaps we can go back to horsehair as well? wonder if the wool is itchy? So grey seats from grey sheep. i would prefer black sheep in my se7en. It would be great to see more of this type of efforts out there! ((hmmm.. i have seen people grow square pumpkins in clear square boxes... if i made a clear lotus 7 shell, and grew a pumpkin inside it, i could have an orange eco friendly lotus 7.)) Sincerly, i hope that industries keep seeking out green solutions, that are also not eco disasters in the process of trying to be green. I would be happy to tune my webers to burn eco-fuels if needed. I would also consider a cat converter in place of my muffler, if i could find one that would work in it's place that didnt choke the x-flow. Sidenote: As sailboat sailors, we do our best to be eco-friendly.. we have allot of fun powered by the wind and solar cells. Over the course of the summer (10-12 sailing weekends) we use a total of 10 gallons of gas. 7evin, have to ask...so if you have tires made with orange peel.. and you spin the tires upon acceleration, does that give a new meaning to "peel out"? -
Gary, we appreciate you letting us know, perhaps you can make it next time! We all have some nice days left, the season is far from over..
-
Thanks gary, i will do that...just dont know when at the moment. I switched to shorter 300# in the front.. but still have stock rear springs. i probably really need to change up the rears as well.. i need to find the spring rate discussion/thread here..

EVO magazines top 100 drivers cars
southwind25 replied to Mike Rohaley's topic in General Sevens Discussion
it's a list... i think we all have our own list.. mine would include the ginetta G4, and probably several others.. but being fair, i have only driven 4 of the cars on the list.. i dont know the diffrence. -
Gary...maybe i have something or are doing something wrong. i thought right now i am at the limit before i risk bending the lower A arm. gotta get around to trying those scales someday..
-
Mike and Jen, have a great weekend at the track. watkins glen is a phenominal place. the race museum, touring the old street course, the lodges and wineries.. it has so much to offer! but if we went..we would want to bring the sailboat for the lake too!!

wasnt there a picture on here of a se7en mudder racer? Our height problem right now, is we cant get ours lower!! with the birkin se7en minimum settings and the 15" wheels/tires, it's WAY too high for a se7en! With that said, last year our little front spoiler was a gulliotine as it cut a groundhog cleanly in 1/2 that ran across the road. not pretty.
-
We had the birkin se7en up to 110. (or thats what mary's subaru said driving next to me) thats a fairly stock 1600 x-flow, with webers, stock windsheild. of course we have the front cycle wings. But we have added a little front spoiler we use to display the plate numbers and i made up a couple of those little nose wiskers out of aluminum. nothing obnoxious. we also made up some snap on 1/2 doors out of simple black upolstery material. they weigh nothing but keep out the gravel, they might help. I would like to make up a 1/2 tonneau someday. previously at about 90 it started floating and feeling unsettled, adding the little spoilers really helped keep the front end planted better. it feels pretty good up to that 110 now..but the little x-flow starts to run out of steam. love the brookland screens Mike R has...gotta make something up like that!
-
Gary thats great! Hey mike,,,did i see your car had a video camera mounted on it? or am i thinking of someone else? would be nice to have a video sometime.

jimmy buffet lyrics: i'd rather die while i'm living then live while i'm dead.

Mike, that sounds great! the price is right. I am sure i can make my own holdown so your drawings would be welcomed. Dont need to bring it to the winery tour, i might want to get it beforehand. give me a call and we can set something up?
-
Quick question: it seems as if allot of people are using the (red-small-flat) oddessey dry cell battery. Which one (model #) is everyone using? where did they get it for how much? i am tired of my tractor battery. thanks.
-
Great to see Mike and Jen, and Glenn (i dont think we have met?) comming along! this sounds great! We also have the local lous dealership invloved now. We have found some nice scenic and twisty roads through the cleveland akron metropark system. (well, twisty for cleveland akron anyways) We will also have a couple unique photo opportunities along the way. A Fun day planned of enjoying our cars and camaraderie.
-
Very cool...uhh...make that very hot! talk about cooking an engine! actually, summit racing (local to me in akron, oh.) has a simplified version of this for sale.
-
very fun.. thanks for posting!

Our se7en going to be a test car for some brakes by KFP (kerr friction products). Shamless advertisment here, they used to supply us pads when i was racing the Healeys. in exchange i was a bilboard for them at the vintage races. KFP are competitors for hawk brakes and specialize in vintage sports cars/bikes/go carts etc.. They are going to try some compounds out on my car, if it works well i will report back on success OR failures. Gert, i have never been really happy with the feel of my brakes on the birkin se7en either..
