How many 40th anniv cars came into the US?
-
I believe that 40th anniversary car belonged to a friend mine when it was new.

I quite like the MFS mirror, allowed me to get rid of the giant rearview mirror that blocked 50% of the windscreen. Works especially well in addition to the wing mirrors. The only issue I had was in a traffic jam at night on the freeway, in CA motorcycles are allowed to lane split, I nearly hit a guy after I changed lanes and couldn't tell the bike from the sea of headlights that is exacerbated by the mirror. Minor complaint though and I learned my lesson.

I don't find the heat to be an issue in my car (ex Al's car) except in the most extreme conditions (90+ outside and stop and go traffic), so apparently either the Jet-hot coating/ Caterham insulation combo works or I have a high tolerance. I usually wear shorts and Puma Speedcats Here is an interesting solution that someone on Lotustalk came up with http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/983539-post76.html I ordered some parts to fit my full doors from Sevens and Elans about a year ago, still waiting for them to show up :toetap05:

The Cayman is a nice car, You should wait and try a Lotus Evora first though

BTW on the next episode they disqualified the FXX because it was on slicks (duh, it's a race car that is not street legal) then also insinuated that schumacher was posing as the stig (duh, as if Schumacher would even have had the time to do all the top gear filming)

Could you just temporarily drop in an old engine with carbs that pre-dates the requirements?

I like it a lot, it's fun to drive, reasonably quick with the V6, handles good (easy to drift ) build quality is pretty good, albeit some of the plastics could be better, but given the price.... I would probably have one with the V6 if I was in the market for such a vehicle. If you have the extra money a 370z or G37 is arguably better, but figuring cost the Hyundai is a great car. Pretty much all of Hyundai's line up has come a long way. The Genesis Sedan is a damn good luxury sport sedan (more emphasis on luxury though) too

The new one is a little less boring.... http://www.mjswebgallery.com/carz/images/coupe_0176_v4.jpg http://www.mjswebgallery.com/carz/images/coupe_0054_v2.jpg http://www.mjswebgallery.com/carz/images/coupe_0162_v3.jpg Here I am having a go at it, I was not quite as good at it as the stunt driver though http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v2645/107/27/842533900/n842533900_1551991_5605969.jpg

Loeb had a pretty big crash this weekend at the Acropolis Rally

Here is a link to an FS post http://www.vintagemotoring.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=483 My car has been fairly stripped down and weighs about 1440lbs with a half tank of gas Hard to compare the two, the Caterham despite it's roots feels much more modern and much more performance. The Elan is a blast to drive though As far as what you plan to do to the car, a lot of people put Zetecs in them (though mostly to the 4 seater versions of the car). lotuselan.net is the forum for these cars. Spyder cars make an aftermarket chassis that is stiffer and more modern ( I would recommend doing this if you are going to go for bigger power) and they do Zetec conversion kits http://www.spydercars.co.uk/ Don't expect ever get anywhere close to your money back if you ever sell, modified Elans seem to be a pariah, as most want a stock original car to relive their youth

Or you can just buy my Elan and be done with it

Loeb/Citroen has pretty much dominated WRC for the past 5+ years, the only way he doesn't win is IF... IF, he makes a mistake, which he very rarely does (hence the "error in his programming" comment). This and the fact that the cars have so much technology in them now, they have much more grip and don't slide as much as in the past (they tend to take a racing line now instead of sliding) has made the sport not as fun to watch anymore. I shot rally professionally for about 8 years (and co-drove a few times), travelled all over for it. I photographed Loeb in Spain for a magazine article and he didn't give me all his attention and was the least friendly of all the WRC drivers I have done portraits of. I am sure he is a nice guy, but that and I don't like seeing someone dominate like he does is the reason I don't root for him Riding in one of those rally cars is just awesome and quite disconcerting since you sit really low and back in the car, you can't really see out the window. Despite the sliding around, you'd be amazed at how much grip there is on gravel. The Caterham is probably the only car I've been in that is similar in it's visceral experience, the acceleration is about the same (a WRC car does 0-60 in about 3.8s), the intensity, and the noise of gravel hitting the bottom of the car reminds me of the rally cars. This is a really great in car vid

Somebody made an error in his programming that day That was not really a big deal, heck, I've been in a rally car in a far bigger oops than that (and the fact that the car was on fire added to the excitement) Not a big fan of Loeb, look forward to his retirement

Right, so we shoot down their missile, it feeds into Kim Jong-il's paranoia that we're out to get them, and in turn, NK attacks S Korea and/or Japan (or us) and then what should we do? Maybe Obama should insult Kim Jong-il like your man Bush did, that sure improved the situation. It's real easy to be critical from your armchair, but you don't have all the facts. You seem to want to jump all over Obama about this (blind hatred?), but remember this has been going on for a while and all anyone else before him did is "talk", perhaps there is a reason for this.... And again, who are we to even tell them they can't have these weapons when [from what I understand] under Bush we had been building new ones ourselves? You have to look at it from the other perspective, a bit hypocritical no?
-
Clearly his intent was to belittle the president rather than have an intelligent discussion Discussing it would have been asking what do you think Obama should do?
-
And what do you suggest he do, start (yet another) war with them? And who are we to tell them they can't have nukes when we have more than anyone? Again, it's the do as I say not as I do policy. Perhaps you shouldn't be stirring the pot, it's too small a community here

Racetracks are for wussies

A virus knows no boarders, it is not a state issue! That is common sense
