Welcome to USA7s @Bombardius I quote from the original instructions to this thread - first page - its se7ens only. NJMP are not comfortable with se7ens running with regular cars (2 or 4 doors, roof, enclosed wheels) on the events they organize. This is particularly so for large groups of them. This is for safety reasons of their choice which they have the right to make - I respect that - its not a topic for public debate here. They do allow other organizers to run different rules but its their risk if it goes wrong. Given we are their guests we follow their rules. If we do not like it then we are free to go to another track day organizer or a different track. That means an S1 Elise, no matter how much I genuinely love them, is not eligible to run with se7ens at this event. In the event we do not get our own run group then I expect (as with prior years) se7ens will run with the open wheelers and the rules for open wheelers are identical to se7ens - no running with regular cars on track. Can you please Private Message me offline with a name/phone number so we can talk offline by phone. I am sympathetic to your position but want to explore if there is another solution.

Best of intentions but sometimes you cannot avoid the rain. I think you have less issues from the water into the exposed air filter intake than you do from water leaking down into the well where the coils drop into the engine. In heavy rains my last four Caterhams have all developed engine misses in heavy rain - usually from the front most coil. Four different engines - regular Zetec, SVT, 2.3L Duratec and 2L Duratec. Two different cam covers on the 2.3L Duratec made no difference. If your engine was not missing then the car will be fine but wet, along with you. It took a sump pump to drain 3 inches of water out of the Caterham cockpit after this maritime expedition. I discovered I had no drain holes - oops. Still one of my favorite all time drives in a se7en. Still you can easily dry the car out and do it all again.

Would not recommend. I ended up going to the the BMW X5 route for three SUVs in a row and now the current X7. A friend plus a work colleague ended up with Cayenne diesels. For both of them they were dogs. Spent more time in the workshop being repaired under warranty than being driven. Engine and transmission issues on both. One eventually got rid of it under the NJ lemon laws and bought a BMW SUV. He never had a problem since. The other sold the Cayenne after two years and bought a Range Rover and loves it. Putting aside the family 1971 VW Beetle, I have never had a reliable experience with a VAG product I have owned. However, a lot of people on this forum have had great experiences with their VW Toerags. Luck of the draw I suppose?

You mean like the one I started here? I was planning to separate to parts only once I had enough links. Your idea is where I was going from when I originally created the page. Given everything else I have going on, I just have not been trawling every post in this site to find suppliers. What would be good is if people want to add their favorite or well-regarded parts supplier recommendations then please just post them onto this thread and then either @JohnCh or I can add them to the article.

Birkin America is at Eagle CO - 5 hour road trip from SLC. Maybe what you want to do is invest the time to do a little road trip to CO. A visit to Birkin America and Rocky Mountain Caterham to try both the Birkin XS (the wide chassis despite the name) and Caterham SV on for size. Write ups of both places

You will get into an SV. I test fit a gentleman into my old yellow SV - he was 6'6", 320pds and same size feet as you. You may need the regular leather seats - do not expect the Tillets to automatically work. Expect to change to racing boots to drive. Your biggest issue will likely be whether your head will be below the roll bar or windscreen. Lowered floors and a tall roll bar are the solution. If no SVs in the SLC area then Josh at Rocky Mountain over in Golden CO could sort something out. Bit of a drive but a test fit is essential for your peace of mind. That is correct. They do not. A lot just are happy doing their own thing. A number find their way here from having a tech issue of some kind and are seeking a solution. This is not something FB or IGram will readily solve. Then they fade off again once resolved. Its their choice. We have a defined segment in the se7ens community and people join if it matches what they want. @JohnCh and I have talked raising profile a lot over the years - witness our experiments with FB and IG. But what we have seen is the respondents on FB or IG are not really interested in our style of club. The only thing that seems to gain any traction on FB is the weekly summary of cars for sale and even then it annoys the hell out of a sizable proportion of the die-hard FB crowd as they cannot see it within FB and instead have to click through to the forum. They want it in FB space - I am not prepared to do that as it just doubles my work and encourages a fragmented community.

You may be surprised to learn that only about 25% of the se7ening community visit USA7s. I expect a similar proportion hang out in FacePlant to look at pretty pictures and swap political conspiracies and a third do their own thing. Each to their own. For all I know, the seller may be consciously trying to avoid you?
