The Caterham for sale is in Richmond, Quebec, Canada. Its near Sherbrooke. The clue is in the French text to the ad. That makes it a 30 min drive to Asbestos, Quebec where the truck is located.

I thought I would make this a National Event posting given we draw participants from NH, MA, CT, NY, NJ, PA, OH, MO, TX, FL, CO, MD, and VA. Save the Date - Sevens HPDE - June 28-30, 2019 at NJMP We had some difficulty this year getting a date scheduled for this year. NJMP has seen significant growth in the Drivers Club membership program. This places pressure on the track time available for a dedicated session like we have been getting in prior years. We evaluated the option of a dedicated track rental and as it stands now we do not have the numbers to make the prices work. It is likely that this will be the last year of the event unless we get very lucky next year. So if you always wanted to attend and put it off until now then this is likely your last chance. Tentative program is: Friday June 28 - Arrive and set up in pits. 3pm karting competition. 6.00pm drinks around the pool followed by a casual dinner sitting outside by the pool. Pay as you go for food and drinks. Saturday June 29 - Sevens HPDE session on Thunderbolt Circuit. Breakfast and lunch included. Dinner at Andrea's of Millville -pay-as-you-go and BYO Sunday June 30 - Sevens HPDE session on Lightning Circuit. Breakfast and lunch included. Clubhouse Dinner. For those who wish to stay around and there is enough interest then I can arrange a limited test day program on Thunderbolt (Wed 7/3/19 or Thurs 7/4/19) or Lightning (Tues 7/2/19 or Wed 7/3/19 or 7/4/19) for a small group of 3-4 cars - open pit lane format. Let me know by PM quickly if you are thinking of extending your stay and wish to participate. Costs are estimated as: Karting - $60-70 pp Mini GP program with practice and a race plus trophies HPDE - $250 per car (including driver) per day. Prices have gone up but are still $100-150 per day cheaper than commercial operators Visitors during the HPDE - NJMP Drivers Club charges $50pp. This covers breakfast, lunch, all refreshments and allows a visitor to accompany an instructor on track. Yes Mike - and confusing it more is that the actual cost and parts are coming down thanks to the UK pound acting like a third world currency which is what drove Caterham to have such a banner production sales year on new cars. And with the political turmoil destined to continue I don't see that changing for 12 months or more. Perfect time to buy a new one methinks, or even a second hand one since that market is depressed by the new Caterham car market. Moral of this story: Always do your homework and shop around before committing to buy. This reposting forum thread is littered with Ebay & Craigslist sellers who after a year (or three) are unable to sell their car because it is overpriced.

Guys - I am not sure its a great idea to debate legality of actions under Federal law in an open forum... Its worse to speculate what Jimmy did based on the limited information in his initial posting. I am not going to touch what happened prior to the UK. There are past posts on this forum, including a very good one where Sean chimed in on car vs kit importation and USCIS rules/views. If it was imported as a kit itno the US then you will have the kit import paperwork from USCIS. Lucky Dawg is spot on - ideally you should have an MSO/MCO from Caterham if it is a normal kit import. Its not unusual to not have one if it is a UK kit purchased second hand and then imported as a kit prior to any form of construction. Depending on pedigree of this kit that may be as simple as requesting from Caterham or may not be available in the example of a second hand kit (stored for some years in a garage). In the memorable words of Sean, a kit is like losing virginity. Once the engine and transmission are in then it will never regain its kit virginity and will always be called a car. Fortunately, you are in FL. You could title and register anything there from what I have observed over the years. Take your purchase paperwork, kit import paperwork, engine/drivetrain paperwork, multiple forms of ID and see what you can negotiate in FL for title and registration. It may take 2 hours but there are good betting odds you will walk out with a title and registration in the name of a Caterham. Different DMV offices were somewhat different If not then you default to plan B - whatever that is based on your discussions with FL.

And on a separate note - that Panoz AIV now on Ebay has been bouncing around Ebay and on consignment with a classic car dealer for about a year plus. I included the ads on here for a few weeks before I decided it really was more like a fire engine than a seven.

Its Jon's Ebay ID. Jon Nelson was the importer/distributor. The old kit import rules were that the kit importer could not be the same as business that sourced the engine/transmission or assist with build. Thats how Ben Wofford and his father (name escapes me for now) were in the picture as Rocky Mountain Sport Cars (I think I got that right). Prior to 2000 I am pretty rusty but I thought Jon was part of RMSC as a dealer but made the change to independent when the import/distributor role surfaced in order to comply with the import rules. Jon and Ben coordinated well but there was legal separation in order to be compliant with law. All of my paperwork from my parts/CSR/etc purchases reflects that legal separation. The rules changed sometime after 2013 but thats another story. When the mess around Caterham dealerships occurred, Jon retained the legacy inventory from his days as Caterham importer/distributor. I bought some parts I think after the transition. For anyone thinking of dealing with Jon, I would vouch for him as a total gentleman in my lengthy dealings with him. Very knowledgable on Caterhams. I thought the Caterham UK people treated him poorly at the time and made a complete hash of their US distribution/dealer network. He was an asset to Caterham UK and they squandered it. Ben's now at Tesla these days.

If you want a non-historic 60s seven then you will be likely on this forum looking at the for sale ads. Failing that then a national platform like Ebay or Hemmings. These cars are seeking a particular type of buyer - marketing reach needs to be as geographically broad as possible or tightly focused to the niche audience. Pricing feels about right on both. Fejer is unknown in the US and probably discounted as a result but I think they are a good build. RHD is always a tough sell to some but price will fix that. I will avoid your website - it has many nice offerings that I need to avoid being tempted by! Cheers mike

John - They were on before. They were ebay ads but I did not link to Sodo Moto the principal seller. They import out of the Japan market - hence the right hand drive for the Caterham. I cannot find the actual post as our search engine only extracts the threads and not the individual posts so I cannot locate it within the 182 page thread. Are you shopping for another car? Have you fully restored your Elan yet?
