  1. Oh stop it John! Everyone knows Connor was also faster than Seb and Simon. :-D
  2. I can arrange for a set of fluffy warmers in blue. Not a problem at all. You just have to participate in the event.
  3. Look up Boss Caterham rentals. They go to Brands, Silverstone and Donington. http://www.boss-racing.co.uk Bookatrack still has 2-3 Caterhams for rent as well. I was participating in a Bookatrack track day.
  4. To access the full library of photos, please use my Amazon hosting site link https://www.amazon.com/photos/shared/8NC6LA9ISSmpof9eVkRPdw.TLfca939TsFpUcwu3nGpYn You can view, download or even send/purchase photos to print. Please do not delete the photos. Download is good. All credit on the photos to Mike Woeller. A top guy who loves cars and photography. He really enjoys participating in our event. Those that participated also receive an email with this information except for Jeff (BlueBDA) as I don't have Jeff's email. Can you please PM it to me and I can forward the email.
  5. Here are some of the group photos that we got during lunch Left to right Front row: Me, Scott, Paul, Tom G, Steve M, Tom C Middle row: Graham, Vlad, Dan, Norm, Blake, Kitcat (Mike M) Back row: Simon, Seb (slow again?), Jeff, John B, and ring in, Dom driving Tom G's yellow Caterham The one photo I want to see but have not yet, is Seb's Caterham fully adorned with its fluffy red steering wheel cover, gear knob warmer, and handbrake cover. One photo and I will admit you are the fastest...but until then you are the slowest.
  6. Graham For the record, I crossed the finish line first! Then we had the debrief. Kitcat having his regular counseling session with a pit official after wreaking havoc on track. Simon and John. John: "Lets face it, I am 5 seconds a lap faster than you" Simon's trying not to laugh I think?
  7. Left to right: Simon, John B, Tom and Seb. John is overtaking Seb (again) Oooh...look at Seb giving the evil eye on being passed Jeff Dan
  8. Tom Kitcat blowing smoke at us Graham passing me - my arm movement is not a wave but is signalling for the seven behind Graham to pass as I was waiting for Scott to catch up.
  9. Vlad overtaking Paul...notice someone has already lost a front wing.... Simon and Carrie A familiar car for some - Stewart's very pretty ex-7 now owned by Jeff. Jeff is demonstrating the Caterham feature of non-cancelling indicators. Its Norm in his highly modified car - lots of trick bits on this
  10. Paige was my navigator in case I got lost And here we are...predictably...John followed by Seb followed by Simon... Steve messing up his mirror finish Left to Right - Vlad, Norm and Paul
  11. Its the club hot shot Seb, checking out his competition that he can blitz on the way out of the pits. He lost this year - slower than John, John's son (name escaped me sorry), and Simon plus Carrie. So we come out on to pit lane John B followed by Seb - and thats the way that session stayed... Blake with Steve M in the distance behind him Scott L
  12. Then we line up ready to go out on the circuit...neatly in line....not Simon about to terrorize his lovely wife, Carrie
  13. The pits engine remapping session is not going well... Ooooh its shiny! And then we are belted in ready to do battle Fortunately only Mike was...I was more relaxed
  14. Why does it take 3 people to push a Caterham? When its Tom's... Here is Paige supervising Vlad - good job she did since as she was quicker lapping the circuit than he was "Darling, now is not the time to tell me you did not renew my life insurance" "Vroom vroom noises" Blake, I would place the order for the bulk HP engine upgrades right now so you can be faster than Seb and Simon next year.
  15. Photo time. Mike came up with some sensational photos from when he came along the day we were on Thunderbolt circuit. A smattering of them presented here: First it was driving briefing time - all those attentive faces Led by Pete Tremper, Chief Instructor of the Porker Club of America Then it was set up in the pits. We were able to cluster in the big pit barn building at Thunderbolt this year. Here is Paul "Let me remap my car in the 5 minutes before I go out on track" Went about as well as expected
  16. This week's selections coming to you from Boston. 17. Following on from here http://www.usa7s.net/vb/showthread.php?12153-Caterham-at-Brands-Hatch&highlight=Donington The latest installment in my quest to drive the great tracks of UK and Europe. This time was the Brands Hatch GP circuit. Last October I had tried the shorter Brands Hatch Indy circuit on a track day and thought it was promising. That was nothing - the GP circuit is sensational fun. Unfortunately, some dickhead developer created a whole village of idiots next to the Brands Circuit. As a result, use of the GP circuit is quite limited and heavily noise restricted - 95db for my day. But when you get the opportunity you take it. The full GP circuit is the same as the one followed by F1 before it ceased using Brands Hatch and migrated to Silverstone for safety reasons. The track map and video just do not convey how much elevation change happens on this circuit. The video flattens things out tremendously. It also does not convey the bumpiness of the circuit. I was destroyed by the end of the day - lots of bruising next day. However, I don't care - it is epic! Its old school style of track. It forces you to think. It requires a big brassy set hanging between the legs. It requires bravery. It challenges better than nearly everything except Spa, Mt Panorama, or Nurburgring. Definitely high on the must try ticket. This is probably the worst track for the Mazda 5 speed gearbox that comes with the current version of the Caterhams. Its a 3-4 gear track only. Only use 1-2 entering or leaving pits. No need for 5th gear. IF there was ever a case for a 6th gear box, it comes on this track. So here is the track video. Makes it look slow. So consider the elevation meter. Look at how my hands work the wheel. See how much I physically move around in the car from the bumps. September sees me at Angelsey. October sees me hopefully back at Donington and for my first time at Cadwell Park. Who wants to join me?
  18. http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=15640&stc=1 Nothing wrong with RHD for those drivers who are competent and skilled. I switch back and forth regularly with my cars. Really quick on clockwise circuits
  19. Sorry no but I have a hefty friend I could lend!
  20. If you open up the pedal box cover you will see the pedals are on a long rod. I was able to take the pedals off and move the spacers around to get the relative side by side alignment of the pedals better for heel and toe. I seem to recall the pedals were only secured by a cotter pin. That said I also bent a pedal once to get it better aligned - two pieces of pipe and bent it around a light pole with a hefty friend helping.
  21. 22. Yes that would be right. My silver CSR had those symptoms for the first two times on track then I put a proper catch tank in. Even if you plan to fix the problem with oil weight then I would still have a catch tank to catch what (ultimately) little is blown. While its not a zetec but it will provide a point of comparison - my 2.3L Duratec runs Castrol semi-synth 5W50 as recommended by Cosworth. On track I can blow out up to 1/4-1/3 quart a session....which I top up...and by the end of the day have effectively done a partial engine oil change. In my former maroon zetec which was a fairly standard spec build, I was running 10W40 both for road and track.
  23. Feeling insecure and lacking confidence are we? Do you resemble that remark? Yes I know. My authentic replica pony is outclassed by those that have completely different blocks, larger displacement and other mod cons in their vintage racer. And I won'g go too far into how I blow seals on live rear axles whereas the modern pony car vintage racer just keeps the oil inside as Yellowss7 will just collapse in giggles at the sexual innuendo. Karl (previous owner) had me fooled the first time I saw it. He insisted it would be safe because he did not use much steering input.
  24. You're a threat all right - to my paint job - from all the debris you throw up to slow down those behind you. :jester: Lurking in the weeds indeed....
  25. But big hood scoops are just so crass. They are for the weak. They tell the world the driver is inadequate, needing bulk hp to compensate for their obvious lack of endowed talent. :leaving:
