  1. Its ok Chris, apology accepted - On a forum like this it is hard to see that I am the good looking one! :jester: For a Caterham you can buy a splined upper steering column with the correct momo wheel that connects right onto the lower steering column. That would be you easiest option - nicely plug and play. Personally I have never bothered about a removable wheel. I am slim and fit enough that I fit easily behind the wheel when climbing in. :leaving:
  2. Writing up this post while watching Goodwood live on TV - sensational racing! 3. How much does SCCA pay to put a patch on your clothing? I would not mind doing the same if they pay better than Puma!
  4. I am humble enough to admit that the biggest tool in my garage is me!
  5. Actually it does - the guy on the right reminds me of Xcarguy :jester:
  6. And all this time I genuinely thought it was a selfie of Mike? You know I just understood there were all types of people on here and accepted that for what it was.
  7. Our cars are plug and play. So scrapping the car because of an engine issues seems extreme - I agree with Suave above. With that in mind then use the chance for a serious upgrade in performance. Options: 1) Why stop at just 2.3L...wimp! Bruce Beachman does a nice 2.5L Duratec option. 2) Dunnell used to have a proprietary ECU which is a big downside to my mind - not sure if that is still true but as an alternative maybe look at Raceline http://www.raceline.co.uk/ or Burton Power (p 14-15 of the catalog) for crate engines 3) While I have not, a number of forum members on the east coast have used Quicksilver race Engines http://quicksilverraceengines.com/services.htm 4) Do you have a Caterham? What about dropping the 620R powerplant into your chassis?

  9. I second Sean on Roger Kraus - great people to buy seven tires from.
  10. Its been a while since I was at Kyle's barn as part of PALS but he has a great facility for his cars on what is a beautiful piece of land. Kyle K is a top guy!
  11. Congratulations - welcome to Seven ownership and the forum! May your motoring be all fun roads!
  12. Not a bad result for the usual fettling in process leaving you with some good feedback to work on. Who was the track day operator? Was the Caterham owned by anyone on here?
  13. One car you could include would be Steve's finished Birkin that has to come east! That is one Birkin project I really want to see in person. :seeya:
  14. LOL - That would be a long signature line if I include the ex-cars or my daily driver. I sold a lot in recent years and pared it down to those I want to hang around. Even then some are restore, keep a little while and sell. For that reason I only show the ex-sevens and the current cars.
  15. No its not for sale. You are referencing the "signature" panel of Xcarguy. It is below a gray line separating the text being posted. A signature/footer/reminder of who the person is and what they own.

  17. Nice going John, I believe that was a bitch slap to half the forum! Even I have never been that obnoxious. Should we start on canoe jokes with you?
  18. I would add to Tom's list, this: - engine mounts secure and rubber not cracked - radiator mounts - exhaust bobbins not deteriorated - exhaust connections to body is a good one - the hexagonal nut joining the two parts of the steering column together is a very good one to check - diff bolts secure is a good check - I would replace brake fluid with fresh stuff for peace of mind - replace the metal rear wing connectors to the body with the plastic riv nuts (or whatever they are called). If you ever rip out a rear wing then the metal is undamaged on the body with the plastic nuts. - check if your brake hoses are weeping fluid - replace - check fuel hoses for cracking - replace - identify where your roll over cut off switch is located under the bonnet. guarantee you will trigger it at the first pot hole and have to reset it.
  19. I know Antony well - he's my insurance broker. My supreme confidence comes from knowing that I am better than anyone who drives a Porsche. Porsche owners buy a car to make themselves look good. I don't need to do that. I look in a mirror and see something much better looking than a Porsche, far more reliable, much easier and cheaper to service (even women can!), parts are cheaper although quality fluids for me are on the expensive side of things but know I can drive faster than a Porsche. Quite a compelling case. :jester: Now to anyone offended by my statement, please PM Kitcat and complain - he's an attorney.:leaving: For those Porsche owners really offended, just substitute Subaru and the statement still all works. And it was nice knowing everyone since John is about to ban me for life!:seeya:
  20. Emotionally delicate? Hoarder in need of saving? Forgetful? Complements your hair? Lost the car in your cluttered garage? Need a few more years to use up all those K series engine spares, head gaskets, plastic engine dowels, etc? Don't want to give Kathy the chance to purloin the sale funds for more shoes, kitchen, shoes, holiday, shoes, grandchildren, shoes, etc? Why sell the yellow car which is the one you are fastest in? It does not run therefore cannot be sold until fixed? Its cheaper than an affair? Nicer than a Porsche? I could go on..... Should I continue? :jester: Edited to add - I just looked at the laundry list of my automotive money pits in the signature footer to this post........and admit that I am not much better...
  21. New one on Bringatrailer - Locost https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2000-lotus-stuart-taylor-locost-7/
  22. Mike and I prefer talking with those pilots who don't stuff the landing!
