No that is just for Kia drivers! :troll:

This is just really sad and quite stunning that it could take place without warning. http://www.cnn.com/2014/02/12/us/national-corvette-museum-cars-fall/index.html?hpt=hp_t2 I wonder if they can repair the damage to the cars?

The lipped fiberglass cycle wings were standard at that time - my old yellow SV had similar.

A few Caterhams on offer: 1) This was offerred by Randy in a separate post - will give him a bump here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-SV-2011-Caterham-Roadsport-SV-170-/191064969831?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2c7c5c1267&item=191064969831&pt=US_Cars_Trucks 2) A nice looking cross flow S3 with clam shells in Florida http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-Convertible-Lotus-Super-Seven-/151230092560?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2336041510&item=151230092560&pt=US_Cars_Trucks 3) A Clubsport from CO and then FL. 2003 kit but looks like it has been updated. Mike Have a look at this post for some ideas: http://usa7s.com/vb/showthread.php?t=8243&highlight=tank The pellet solution I have used in the distant past in my original Lotus 7 when I raced it and it worked well in that car. I would use it again instead of foam if it were me. Cheers mike

Another option, if you can find them, the Donkervoort Series 1 had a more rounded rear wing profile. Probably like trying to find rocking horse poo here in the US though...... It will probably be easier to get someone to custom make them in ali.

It is all to do with lawyers and product liability lawsuits. Manufacturers build "liability" tolerances into their recommendations as to how their product should be used. It helps in defending the inevitable lawsuits when the manufactirer can point to how a consumer has wilfully flouted manufacturer guidance. People do not understand how product liability costs are a significant component of the product cost structures in the US. Reviewing my insurance claims online databases that I have access to, I cannot find a single over $10 million product liability settlement in Europe. I have pages of them in the USA. The legal burden of shifting blame is much higher in Europe than the US where it is automatic. VW admitted the obvious and kudos to them for being honest. However, as consumers as a whole we are to blame for not accepting accountability for our actions and seeking the deep pockets of manufacturers. ok thats my rant over for the day.

Just click into the cam lock as you say.

Oh so you are like me? I could f$%k up an erection! :spam: Let me know how it goes when you get around to testing it. I am interested to see if it is easier than my manual syncing via RaceRender
-
very interesting. The Caterham standard belt mountings don't quite follow that guidance. The submarine belt in particular reaches back more than the recommended 20 degrees. I suspect this is so it mounts to a chassis frame rather than thin ali?

I thought the Traqmate solution did the syncing automatically with their controller unit? I know you don't have to do a sync using specialist software once you get home.

This would explain a lot about the handling characteristics on my car compared to other non-CSRs I have driven on track. I have learned to bust through this feeling over time but it was a confidence barrier early on. I suspect it also has a link to why my car can get airborne on the back hump of my local track where other Caterhams do not. Very interesting - thank you for that detail.

Rural New South Wales in Australia - about normal for driving standards. He still does better than the average driver in NY or NJ states. :leaving: I do like how I can hear the cicadas in that video singing away loudly.

From the NJMP website: Camping and Electric Camping & Electric Services: While visiting NJMP for your club events, please take advantage of our camping and electrical services located at our Thunderbolt, Lightning, and Karting tracks. CAMPING A camping permit is required for any overnight stay whether it is in a tent, your vehicle, or a Recreational Vehicle (RV). The rate for a tent or personal vehicle is $5 per night. The RV rate is $20 per night. These rates are applicable to all vehicles entering NJMP for an overnight stay with the exception of our Villa and VIP Suite confirmed guests. ELECTRIC Electric hook-ups are available at each of our tracks. To enhance your visit to NJMP, we have streamlined our offerings to include electric box rentals, either low or high voltage, or the complete box. By renting the box, you have the control over its usage. Upon rental, each electrical box rental will have the appropriate tag attached to the box for easy identification of status. Electric box rentals are on a first come, first served basis. Daily Electric Rates*: $15 Low Voltage Portion of the box – 15AMP/110Volt ( 2 outlets) $25 High Voltage Portion of the box – 30AMP or 50AMP/220 Volt (2 outlets) $35 Complete Box * Above pricing applies to club events, please contact NJMP Registration at 856-327-7256 for Major Event pricing. To be honest I always thought the power hookups were free. I can recall Karl using them to power the fridge and TV in his trailer once. However, the website says otherwise. The power hookups are at the back of the pit area at Lightning where it is (sort of) grassy. On the track map link it is the pits area on the other side of the skidpad from the marked classroom. http://www.njmp.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/Lightning-Classroom-Board-clean.pdf

I would only consider it if it had cycle wings - too much front end lift with clamshells :hat:

Skip - did you have a particularly fiery curry or chili the night before? :jester:

Hi Jim, I recommend you go through BookaTrack. http://www.bookatrack.com/event-calendar They operate the finest track days I have ever attended. Open pit lane format - not crowded at all. Passing only on straights on the left. At Spa there is no point by as there is a 80+mph speed differential between the fast and slow cars on the long straight. They have 10 Caterhams R300 spec (2 x SV chassis 8 x S3) for rent at their own events and other track day operator events. R300, Duratec 180hp, 6 sp, 13", stripped out race cars, tillet buckets or foam rubber seat. Visually a little beaten up but mechanically are very well looked after. Fully supported - you turn up and drive and it includes a session of free instruction. They have a spare should your assigned car break. Jonny LeRoux in the video above runs BaT - a top quality guy. Great driver and a brilliant sense of humor. It is not cheap....but it is bucket list so....and BaT provide a good quality experience. You do need to book and pay well in advance - I missed out on the July events when they opened in December! Driving quality is usually pretty good and well mannered. You have to register to see the prices and you will what types of cars they get booked in for the event. I have booked for the November 2014 Spa weekend. I was too slow to book the summer double header with Zandvoort but am on the wait list and expect that it will clear. I am also booked for Donnington and Anglesey in May/June. Who wants to join me? :driving: RSR has turned up with rental cars at BaT events. Well supported and organized. A quality outfit. I have only seen them rent Porsche at Spa. They also run their own track days but are more European in style which you may not like... We can talk by phone offline if you want to find out more. As a bucket list item Spa is worth it. I am still in awe of the hour I had on track virtually by myself with maybe only one or two other cars early Sunday morning when I was last there.

Then that makes no sense. He is backing way off throttle on corners where he would not have to lift at all with only 140hp. Puzzle for later I guess.
-
Here it is 2.45 lap set in 2009 in a borrowed R300 Caterham. Lap record still stands today. He also ended up winning the race
-
I have not seen that video before but having driven Spa last year I can see this video is pre-F1 modifications made in 2012. The new F1 pits are not there and the area at the end of Blanchimont straight is the old Bus Stop layout. I am curious what spec car he is driving? He has a lot of straight-line power that others do not and that strikes me as it cannot be all one class racing. The other thing that gives it away is that he backs off on Blanchimont corner and Eau Rouge . I worked out how to get through Blanchimont flat out with out lifting in an R300 (180hp) and was very close to doing the same on Eau Rouge. Top driving for all of that! I love that circuit. I need to dig out the video of the R300 lap record set and held by Jonny at Bookatrack. That was one hell of a race too.

I don't want to come across as negative but...in reviewing these latest posts it has just hit me that we are at our original cap for number of cars in track. We set it low deliberately to ensure a decent driving experience on track although not necessarily clear track race hot lapping experience. Tom and I will huddle together today and talk to NJMP to make sure we are not overcrowding the place with sevens. If we do have to put a cap on driving numbers we will take reserves and from past experience there is a very good chance that they will get a drive as people do drop out once it comes time to put up the money. I want to get this out now to be fair to people who are contemplating attending. I genuinely never expected we would get over 20 sevens wanting to be on track - call me naive but the positive response on this thread just goes to show the level of enthusiasm by the owners on this forum. :driving:

I think all of us would crap if confronted with a 4000 mile drive in a seven! I think he wins the all time drive stakes :iamwithstupid: That said I would love to see the old girl again. She is a wonderful car - wish I could have afforded to keep her as a road car along with the CSR. I really get a kick out of Jude driving her everywhere in Alaska. :cooldude:
-
Good grief Jude! Have you recovered from your last trip from Jersey City! :ack: Thats another 4000 mile slog! wow!

I can tell you who not to use - Reliable definitely was not reliable! Hopefully someone else here has had better experiences with a carrier. What did you buy? :hat:
