  1. Oh wow - its Lakeside circuit  That brings back some memories. I once ripped a rear wing off my first Seven (1965 S2) when I got a leetle too close to the wall coming onto the main straight. Nothing has changed from what I can see - just incredible. Looks like it would still billow dust clouds if you did some gardening! :driving: Those videos have made my day! :seeya:
  2. And the award for the forum member with the most marketing smarts goes to.......... ACE3!!!!!!! :hurray: Nice job getting your car featured on Jalopnik and it got a pretty good reception too! http://jalopnik.com/for-13-000-we-are-family-1447091648
  3. Sounds similar to my - goes haywire as soon as I go above 100mph so most of the time it is useless to me. - Check the speed sensor gap and have it on the smallest setting. Is it under 1mm? - If that is done then check the earth on the speedo - Check the speedo cable - If that is turning up negative then it is not unheard of for the Speedo to be failing and need replacement. This is a very common issue on many Caterhams and a search of Blatchat should reveal the solution to be one of the 3 above.
  4. As Automoda says - it is one great slideshow of sevens. I think I recognized KiwiBirkin's car in one of the photos. I also saw a Birkin SV although it may have been a PRB? The Ferrari pontoon lookalike was a local special hybrid from my recollection. Very many thanks for posting Maurice! It would be good to have such a large event - yellowss7 and myself have started off small with an annual track day event but we are going try to add in the upcoming year a more social element for those not interested in tracking their car. Winery tours, visit to Atlantic City for spa beauty treatment (spouses and S1Steve are looking forward to that!), dinners, drives, etc. However, it is tough to get the numbers because of the distances involved and difficulty in finding dates that work for everyone. I think the clubbie community is also better knitted together in Australia than it is in the US where we seem to be fragmented across several clubs/forums. So Automoda, I can put you down on the list for 2014?
  5. HI S1-Mead Did I meet you out at the Carlisle Show about 4 years ago? Your green S1 is jogging a memory in this rusty brain of mine! Cheers mike
  6. This is the type of post I love. The excitement, the drama, the agony and the excitement at the end of spending some money on your new baby to fettle it into perfect condition and make it yours! Really well done!! :hurray: May you have many happy drives, :driving::cooldude:
  7. And compare silicon implants? He does have a nice rack of man boobs :-p.
  8. Sure there is! He is driving a silver CSR in Beverly Hills! :jester:
  9. Even worse he has bought a CSR! In silver, same as mine! Oh the shame. Oh the humanity. :bs: HERE I don't think I can drive my car again and need to sell it for something less metrosexual and more masculine. I am not into full Brazilians so I like hair on my chest (legs, arms, back, groin, etc). A Brunton Stalker perhaps? I suspect I am safe posting this - this forum with its misfits and oddjobbies is unlikely to appeal to someone like him! On the good side for a moment, this has to be the first time when I am ahead of someone trendy on a trend curve. :blueangel:
  10. The last Carlisle show I went to with my seven had an autocross event operated on site during the event. It was part of the official program.
  11. I suspect Porsche has made a careful calculus of how much it would cost to fix the problem and maintain goodwill versus doing nothing. Right now it is assuming that it will all follow normal PR theories and blow over shortly (3 months or so). Hopefully it does not as it is always good form to keep the bastards honest. Porsche knows they will lose current customers but the way they are going mainstream means that they expect to get new customers that will replace the unhappy as an aspirational brand. Has anyone else noticed the similarities between the Porsche approach for this fault with their colleagues at VW and Audi? They are using the same playbook. I had my own issues with a 2010 Audi A4 which required 2 clutches in 3000 miles (first clutch at 500 miles) and it took 1.5 hours and 2 test drives to convince a service manager that there was a warranty issue the first time. Their first reaction is to always say no. This is why I am unlikely to want to dive into having another VAG anytime soon. Luckily Porsche were never on my wish list - learning to drive on a 1971 VW Beetle cured me of the 911 desire for lift off oversteer. :ack:
  12. G'day Maurice. Thanks for posting. Sadly I will not make it there at that time my of year. My visit to see family in Sydney and Brisbane will timed for late December as I make my annual Christmas visit. Pity the Clubman Nationals are not timed for then - usual family squabbles will mean I will be desperate to escape! Hope the event goes off well and the weather is perfect!
  13. Call me pessimistic but I don't expect they will be able to pull this together. Financing is not organized. They have been having leadership food fights in the last year. They have not sorted out how the track will work across the top of the circuit and still provide access to the residents who live there. There are houses there which have garages and driveways opening direct onto the would-be-track. Look on google maps at JFK Boulevard East in Weekhawken north of Pershing Road to see what I mean. Then there is the simple matter of turning a typical atrocious NJ road surface into a beautifully smooth and graded F1 circuit with all the safety gear. I would love to see it happen but am not confident.
  14. Looks genuine from the limited photos available. The dealer (Park Place) has sold Caterhams before. The Donky looks to have a Ford BD engine which makes it quite valuable for that alone (if it is in good shape and not needing a rebuild). Ali nosecone. I guess the price is low because it is viewed as an orphan by the market.
  15. The car has to enter the country as a kit. Engine spec and gearbox would be separate sourced but otherwise same as the UK spec version. You would then put it together yourself or have someone do it for you. There is no reason why you could not have a RHD version - many states do not prevent you from registering a RHD car and on a clockwise track it makes perfect sense.
  16. If you need Soft Bits for Sevens you need to call them directly. Their email response times are not good. Not idea when you consider the time difference/disadvantage we are dealing with.

    Wanted......

Its the good, the bad and the ugly! No idea but I wish he would quit leaning on my car! :toetap05: You can see the red light of frustration between the legs? or is that something else....

    Epic Bad Car Repair

I have definitely used duct tape/race tape to stitch a car back together for a track and road use. It was only temporary mind you...I always ended up making more permanent repairs eventually. The best duct tape repair was the one carried out on Taber's Caterham during the Grizzly Bear Blat after he kissed a bear at speed. It really was a work of art and can be seen in that photo thread kindly posted by Skip.
  19. Very interesting way of describing. I am not artistic so I do not think that way. I am trying to record a time for memory for a group of people to show the fun we had. Given not all like music but everyone likes seeing themselves and my music tastes are rather eclectic then the safe way is with engine noise with a theme to make it fun. Italian Job (original 70s version) was an inspired choice in hindsight. Glen - you would always be welcome. If we forget to invite then jog Tom or I and we will include you. Carolyn is keen for us to do something with a members day - possibly the open wheeler group. We like the idea of going back to SCDA as they ran a better event than Trackdaze but need to accommodate those who can only reliably escape weekends. The debate for next year has started. I may even have a clubhouse by then! By the way - thumbs up for being a top dad with your son and making a day like this!
  20. so.....the left to right variance (F to F and R to R) was 100 grams each and each wheel was balanced vertically if not laterally (on that wheel)? and that would be explained through Lightning Circuit being a clockwise running circuit. so far so good.... But why would that cause vibration? Vibration arises from weight imbalance reacting to centrifugal force and normally rubber is evenly distributed around the rim of the wheel? I think of the example of a L/R staggered set up for a oval course where tires can be shaved to give a cutoff "cone" profile to fit the banking - those cars do not have wheel vibrations? What am I missing from this new piece of evidence to explain the vibration?
  21. Jeff - Did you corner weight for 1 driver or driver/passenger?
  22. True there looks to be malware on the site itself (and I am not going there to confirm) but you also can get the contact details by googling and the google search page will show the business contact details and map on the right of the screen. They warn you not to go to the website - a warning is stopping you before you put your computer in danger. Googling a name cannot give your PC a virus - that is like contracting a sexually transmitted disease while looking at a porno magazine. You can also get the contact details without going to a business website by looking up: - yahoo - manta - white pages - yellow pages It also used to be listed on the Caterham USA site at one point. Each of these ways does not require you to go to the actual website which is what is all screwy right now.
  23. Tom - you are describing the exact same symptoms I had on the sevens track day when I lost the wheel weight off the rear right. It may only have been 10 grams or so but it made a hell of a vibration without it!
  24. Some very good drivers on this forum (Kitcat, Sabbot, Blubarisax, errr....me... many times) have got that corner wrong in the past  So it understandable and perfectly acceptable Still I was surprised to see it happen in the introductory group? That is a first for me to see. Yeah, while you have been off playing go karts, the little yellow devil has got rather quick over the last year with his fresh 20 inch wide slicks and lots of Caterhams to give him a little competition to improve. :seeya: Top video as always! One of these days I will get you to give me a lesson in your editing skills!
  25. You can get the details by googling and not going to the website Mid-Atlantic Caterham Address: 2317 N Dupont Hwy, New Castle, DE 19720 Phone:(302) 652-7750
