....or get an SV/CSR!
-
I was surprised to see Boston skyline in the video but it made sense once I saw the S&E name roll up in the credits at the end.
-
I have driven an S3 with size 12.5 but can only do it in socks. Race booties are too large. No chance of heel or toeing (struggle to do that now in my CSR!). As for the sidescreens and headrests I suggest you look at Caterham UK online store: http://www.caterhamparts.co.uk/ Sidescreens are at GBP160 (excl VAT) USD250 Optional armrests for the sidescreens at GBP 80 (excl VAT) USD125 Cloth headrest is GBP 70 Leather is GBP 85 (VAT excl). USD110 Divide by 0.64 to get to USD None of these include delivery direct from the UK. Give them a call direct to order and price out delivery. Chesire CT is within 10 miles of Bruce (11budlite) - he may have better information of Special Vehicles Development and Bill Mitchcell. PM him if he does not chime in on this post. He may even know the car locally.

I think it is Roman's well deserved brand of heart burn relief. I hope it finally gets rid of his problems.

It was in for service when my car was at Exoticars once. Its not concours showroom condition like Bruce's garage queen collection. The lady definitely knows how to get out and drive to enjoy it. I quite like the white leather interior look but I would hate to keep it clean. I don't think it is up for sale? NY Times just feature an unusual car and its owner each week with an article. My old yellow seven was featured once. This may just save your checkbook 7veloce!

I have been avoiding responding until my calendar confusion clears. However, it is getting rude to not respond to Bruce. So I will say I am a tentative but i am trying.

You are on the right track. Over 25 years old home built can be imported. Under 25 years old cannot. Here is my personal example - I have a 24 year old race car (Holden) that was originally converted from a street car never originally sold in the US. US Customs guys want an official Manufacturers Certificate of Origin to say it was manufactured exclusively as a track/race car 24 years ago. Putting aside that the manufacturer does not issue those certificates, my car was originally derived from a road car so any certificate would not help me even though the car is so modified and set up as a track car that it could never be driven on a street. I have to wait until it in its 26th year to import it. If you want to import then have it pre-cleared in a review by the US Customs because the documentation they want is a real problem. Anyway...back to our scheduled program. Nice car. I always have huge respect for any Locost builder as they built their cars the hard way! No idiot-proof lego kit caterham for them!

Magnificent photo of the car and track. I had no idea Texas had hills - the topography of the new circuit should be spectacular. Let me know if you ever do this for the NJ F1 GP - I would unselfishly volunteer my seven in an instant! http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/s720x720/422216_507745165918495_1830943068_n.jpg

If there are any identifying marks/ID on the existing alternator you could try and replace it by ringing the guys at Dave Bean Engineering or Moss Motors as they supply all manner of British car parts. If no marks then send a photo to them and see if they can identify it.

Errrrr....about 8 days and a 1000 miles out of a brand new set of CR500s for me! :D
-
Congratulations Paul! I think you will enjoy the car as it will monster most things on the road or track day. There is nothing more intoxicating than taking it over 4000rpm. Hopefully you are located somewhere on the East Coast so I finally have someone who can keep up with me There are some quirks with maintenance - oil levels, tires and diffs are the most critical. Sign yourself up at the CSR Forum to keep in touch with things like this. http://csr.informe.com/forum/ or PM me as I had to go through the same learning exercise.

Well today is your lucky day Mondo! It is for sale at $102k. Surely you California types have all that spare cash to spend just a little on a new toy? I wish I did! :iamwithstupid:

S1Steve and myself decided to check out the merchandise....err....cars at the New Hope Car Show yesterday. Winner was this little Q car: http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/Miscellaneous/DSC00591_edited-1.jpg http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/Miscellaneous/DSC00589_edited-1.jpg I could see myself pulling up at a set of lights in my seven and being smoked completely! :cooldude: http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a354/mjohnson555/Miscellaneous/DSC00576_edited-1.jpg

Thats a pretty good result - I would be happy with that if it were mine. Is your zetec the regular or the SVT version? Also, what rev limit do you keep it too? I always thought they were not designed to go over 7000rpm?

prepping for a tour - whats the list of maintenance?

A Caterham S3 chassis has more storage space than a CSR because the chassis diff struts wall off 1/3rd of the space as unusable. The CSR boot floor is higher due to the IRS. So my solution is - Jack and brace plus 2 Sparco rally tool bags with my kit go down the back of the seats. Spare oil and misc stuff fills about a quarter of the trunk. The rest is put in the trunk/boot - usually my helmet (for the track weekend), mini-air compressor, video equipment and remainder of driving kit. Clothes/shoes go into a Soft Bits for Sevens RE bag that mounts on top of the trunk to the roll bar. If I have a laptop then it is in a back pack on the passenger footwell floor or behind the passenger seat. Simple! If I had a Caterham SV or Birkin SV I would be spoiled for space! -
Top video find Bruce! :cooldude: I now want to go out and buy an Elan! She looked lovely - far nicer than the Miata (oops...did I day that?)

LOL! No Karl, its not the RST Calm down Tom...there is a puddle of drool at your feet!

You are two years too late - I came, I saw and, I conquered the Reverie website! I thought long and hard about it but decided against it as I would have to cut up the nosecone to mount it properly on the CSR chassis (which is different to the Levante chassis shown). Also they had never mounted one to a CSR before and after the rear diffuser "fun" I was not in a trusting mood. It costs a fortune and I want my money towards my ongoing ultimate upgrade. Lastly, I really need rear downforce more than front downforce. My little winglets provide a ton of front downforce I only wash out the front from time to time in slower corners and that is due to CR500s instead of slicks. High speed cornering the car is lightly biased to tail-happy drifts even with the diffuser.

Lots of discussion on Blatchat about upgrading the Ital axle and the merits for doing so. Try these these: http://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?id=218933 http://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?id=196756 http://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?id=143395 http://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?id=179094 http://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?id=36870 http://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?id=25006 http://www.blatchat.com/t.asp?id=3316 This should start you off thinking the right way. I am not sure if $5500 is a good price though - need to see what it includes or excludes. I assume you have the standard 1700 xflow from 1996? If so, your power is within the limits of the axle and you should not need to upgrade unless you want to lift the power up.

Wow! Look at that engine! :cooldude:

None of these sales are affiliated or connected with me but I am reposting them in case someone on here finds it helpful. Contestant 1 A nice looking Superperformance S1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Superformance-S1-/190708911099?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item2c67230bfb Contestant 2 A Lotus Seven S2 in nice condition. I think it is being sold by Terry on this forum - how many seveners in Red Deer AB are there? He has had the chassis number checked out and posted the report - warts and all - which gets big bonus points in my view. It also has the best wheels for a seven IMHO. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Lotus-Super-Seven-/251122758976?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item3a78153540

:rofl::rofl: I forgot the Old Spice! Is it true that you are a really slow driver as your loafers are a little light on the throttle pedal? Or is that just a stereotype? :jester:
