  1. If you were drafting the GT2 closely you would have had less airflow thru the radiator and the temps would climb until you got into clean air.
  2. They looks similar to the ones carried by Seven Speed and CBS Online.
  3. What kind of speeds were you hitting?
  4. Nice vid. Course flows nicely, reminds me of a local road that I occasionally run. Local road has more cliffs and mountain faces tho.
  5. How about a drill with a polishing pad + polish and smooth down that shift knob?
  6. How about using driving gloves? I usually drive w leather gloves. It helps w/ the hand fatigue from steering wheel vibrations when I do long drives.
  7. Googled the jetta tdi wagon for tow specs and the euro spec is around 1500kg with trailer brakes. I think another member who tows with a vw toureg found out the same thing with the us spec tow capacity being lower than the euro spec for liability reasons. If you decide to tow with the jetta look into getting a euro sourced tow hitch.
  8. Can't you put a tow hitch on the Jetta TDi wagon and tow a 7 on a lightweight trailer?
  9. Since its on a suspension part I'd would go for the highest grade (8) available. Got this when I googled locknut grades.
  10. How much bigger is a T5 transmission vs the T9? Looks like T5s can be built to 600+hp/500+ft lbs.
  11. Got a reply back: "Ten new 2.8 lay gears went to the gear cutters yesterday. I will find out next week when they will be done."
  12. Update: Still a work in progress. Realized that the teeth angle of the new gear is slightly different than the original gear. While it meshes together its not close enough to allow the gear to align properly. So I ended up looking around for the manufacturer who supplied the part to Burton Power. Sp Components ltd makes the gear and they have the correct V6 gear set. Even better is that the modified v6 1st gear has a ratio of 2.74:1 vs the modified v4 ratio of 2.98:1. After a month of waiting they finally told me that they will get some in supply soon (they had the mainshaft gears, but needed to get the layshafts machined to fit the new gear.)
  13. Hazardous materials have to be ground shipped for safety. Unfortunately a lot of the "ground" shipped stuff end up being air shipped due to only either air or water access to certain parts of Alaska.
  14. Unfortunately its a hazardous material, so they just don't ship to Alaska.
  15. Well the front cover is covering up the cam gears. Where's the location? Hopefully a forum member near there will know about it.
  16. Why is there a leather belt on the exhaust side of the engine? The head upgrades might just be mild porting on the stock head with upgraded cam and valve springs. Can you get them to take of the nosecone to see if adjustable cam gears are installed? Ask the seller if they have a dyno sheet. The intake is an aftermarket ITB setup so it should have at least more hp than a stock zetec.
  17. Too bad amazon.com doesn't ship it to Alaska or I would try it out. Don't think its local yet.
  18. 3M Paint Defender, just saw it on tv and it looks like an interesting product. Its pretty much a sprayable plastic bra.
  19. Slicks should have little wear holes in the tread where you can measure the remaining tread. Only useful pic I could find.
  20. Don't suppose you can take off the oil pump belt and drive the pump with an electric drill? That would test the pump and save the engine from dry starts.
  21. Might be slight play in a wheel bearing causing the rotor to hit the caliper. Check caliper for rubbing marks.
  22. Tom, I just got 4 100g tubes of Hylomar universal blue off of ebay. If you have trouble finding any, just let me know and I can send you one. I got lucky and got them for about $12 each with free shipping.
  23. Nevermind. I should have done a better job with the search function. Found this thread.
  24. Looking to replace my accessory belt for my 2004 Caterham SV with the SVT zetec. Does anyone know the part #? I just came back from the local O'reilly's and the belt they found for me is too short.
  25. Sound like a brake master failure. Bad seal allowing the pressure to leak down. Not sure what size you have but maybe one of these will work for you.
