  1. Not sure what engine you need the starter for, but did you look into a Tilton starter? Pegasus Racing carries them. Not cheap, but an excellent product.
  2. Actually, long cockpits were available back in 1985 when I bought my car! It makes a big difference!
  3. The Lucas replacement smoke eBay ad is a classic and probably my favorite.
  4. Saw it last week. An excellent movie that brought back a lot of memories, both good and bad.
  5. I have a problem with this list. It's supposed to be the 100 greatest cars of all time and I get to 95 and see a Hummer H1? It's a truck, not a car. And it's not that great.
  6. Nitto NT-01 are available in 205/55/14 which is way too much tire for my car.
  7. The Yokohama 032R tires (195/60/14) on my car are seriously old. Without going down to 13" wheels, do any of you have any suggestions/experience with a 14" tire?
  8. I'm considering it. It's been too long since I've been. At approx 8 hrs I would not drive the Seven this time.
  9. That's good.
  10. If there is a race, I will be there. Have to support the USGP.
  11. I've had my 2004 JCW S for all of it's 94,000 miles and it's a great car. Fun to drive, economical and reliable. Mileage back and forth to work in mixed highway and street driving is 28 mpg. Highway mileage for me is 34 mpg. I'm not a huge fan of the latest model; they are more isolated feeling. That said, we added a base Cooper for my daughter earlier this year. So, yeah, they're good!
  12. I agree, get what you want. But, 26 years in a RHD car has certainly never been a PITA for me!
  13. If the car is nice, this should not deter you. Passing has never been a problem for me; narrow, fast car gets it done. ATM's and toll booths are a bigger problem, but big deal.
  14. The 340R gets me going! Always had a thing for these not for the USA cars.
  15. My decision for RHD 26 years ago was based on engine choice (Lotus TwinCam) and desire to not have to fuss with the steering and alternator mounting modifications to make it a LHD car. Okay, it's not like a LHD car and it takes some patience while driving (I work in Detroit) but I've covered a lot of road miles with no issues. Bottom line, buy the car that you like!
  16. Yeah, with the exhaust on the left, it's the passenger with the hot feet!
  17. For me, driving on the right has never been a problem. I don't frequent drive-in windows. The occasional toll booth requires unbelting. Shifting - no problem! The car is narrow and fast enough that passing is also not a worry. Go for it! Jon
  18. Very nice! From one TC owner to another, engine bay photos would be appreciated!
  19. I use the 1.75" deep K&N on my car that has 40DCOE's. The 3.25" deep filter, which also would allow the normal air horns interferes with the clamshell fender. You might think about that as it looks like it might be tight on your car also. I purchased shorter air horns (from APT), but the filter back plate needs to be opened up for the velocity stack to fit through and I haven't done that. K&N doesn't make a 1.75" deep filter that allows fitment of air horns, or at least they didn't last time I called them. So, I'm running with no air horns currently. Maybe another call to them to see if they'll make what I want.
  20. I've been contemplating the same thing for the Lotus Twincam in my car. I never thought to check QED, who built my motor back in 1985! I am going to check into this, get more details about the hardware. It would be a fun project! I don't know about the legality thing, or if it matters in many places outside of California. Here in Michigan, there are no emissions tests and my car, regsitered as an "assembled" is exempt anyways.
  21. I've been running a Lumenition system, basically a breakerless device that substitutes a light beam and "chopper" for the points for more than 20 years in my Twincam. It's been spot-on reliable. Look around a bit for more feedback regarding Petronix as I've read some not always positive comments about their hardware.
  22. I've got a conflict. Plans were made to go to East Lansing to deliver stuff to my daughter. I'm sorry, but I will have to pass on this one too. Sooner or later, we will get to meet one another and do some driving... Jon
  23. Hey Dave, I'm in. Thanks for doing all the set up work. Looking forward to meeting you! Jon
  24. I'm in that group looking for 14" tires to replace my very old Yokohama A032R's. Have never run Falken tires. At this point, these are probably better than what I'm running. The price is certainly okay.
  25. Would like to join in the fun, but have to drop my daughter off a MSU. Hopefully, there will be more driving dates that I'll be able to participate in. Jon
