  1. Yeah, but a poorly designed bearing that when it fails takes out the engine is not a maintenance issue. I'm well aware of the costs associated with performance cars. I'm less tolerant of bad design.
  2. When I was looking for another car, I learned of this failure mode and it was one of the reasons why I crossed the Boxster off my list. No way did I want to be worried about a $10k repair bill every time I drove the car.
  3. Yes, sorry to see he won't be contributing on a regular basis. He was pretty much why I kept my subscription through some lean times for the magazine.
  4. Another t-shirt I had to get!
  5. Ran out of talent.
  6. The car shipped to its new owner today. I'll let him introduce himself. Kind of sad for me after 28 years of ownership but excited for him and all the new adventures he'll have. I'm looking at this as an opportunity as it opens up some future possibilities. Will always love Sevens!
  7. That would be a more than adequate replacement for the car I just sold! Keep dreaming....
  8. Sale pending. Thank you for all of your interest.

  22. Here goes: Cars 1972 Datsun 1200 1972 Triumph Spitfire (the ash tray was perfect for holding the loose hardware that was always falling off) sold to my brother, who put a lot money into it, sold it to a friend who had it for 20 years before selling it back to my brother! 1974 Triumph TR6 (nice drive train, but the body succumbed to the tin worm) 1972 Volkswagen Beetle (still have the holed piston from the dropped valve) 1976 TVR 2500M (a nice car, but had to go for the Seven) 1969 Dodge Polara (acquired for the good heater and my 210 cm skis fit in the trunk) 1984 Dodge Colt (was supposed to be reliable daily driver and it wasn't) 1985 Caterham Seven (still in the fleet) 1988 Ford Festiva 1987 Saab 900 Turbo 1996 Saab 900 SE 2001 Volkswagen Passat Wagon (the most boring car I have ever owned) 2004 MINI Cooper S JCW (my daily driver) 2005 Volvo V70 (wife's daily driver) 2005 Chevy Malibu (really dislike this car, but it's fine for my high school age daughter) 2011 MINI Cooper 2008 Lotus Elise SC (waited a long time for this one and it was worth it)
  23. Great news! Was planning on making the trip to Connecticut, but my heart is with Watkins Glen. Tony will do a good job as he has in the past!
  24. Excellent and funny homage to the Ken Block videos!
  25. When I was a kid, we used to walk though the Chevy dealership and look at Corvettes. Have driven them, but never owned one. A nice commercial that should be a reminder to drive what you like while you're still alive!
