Not all of us have oversteer issues. In fact I originally found it quite difficult to rotate with a lift and it was only this year that I finally got the car to repeatably and reliably lift-off oversteer at the track. Power oversteer on the other hand is always available and IMHO very controllable.

I have some (relatively) softer springs you can try out before buying anything new.

I just picked up a Ford Flex Ecoboost for the wife and it is great. Seats 7, 23 mpg highway, 4500 lbs towing and faster than my GTI in a straight line.

Modern sport cars - they just don't do it for me

While the Evora is not as visceral as the Seven it does have some other things in its favour such as usability, air conditioning, navigation, safety, reliability, dealership network, etc... As someone that owns an Elise and a Seven I have to say that my Seven is my favourite car (and waaaay faster), I can only use it maybe 10% of the time while the Elise is my daily driver with 62k miles and has been driven in all sorts of weather. I've even done the trip from Oakland to Vancouver in a single day which I wouldn't even contemplate in the Seven. -
I dont know how much the RA1s weight but a set of 235R17 fronts and 275R17 rears for my ultralite weight a little over 100 lbs. Doesnt matter on most sedans but is a huge percentage of the weight of a Seven.

Actually that doesnt always work either as the stock targets for the CEOs are often quite short term which means they will (subconsciously or not) try to keep the stock price high even at the expense of the companies long term health. The 10 years vest is a great idea as then the ceo in theory at least will optimize for long term growth and not short term profit.

I had the same issue the first time I used the Rage in my Elise with leather seats. I put strip of duct tape on the seats when I track and its been fine after that. In the case of the Seven I have a cloth racing seat and haven't had any issues

First drive in his self-built MEV Exocet lasts .3 miles before and SUV backs into it http://jalopnik.com/5904702/watch-a-guy-freak-out-as-an-suv-backs-into-his-hand+built-car-out-for-its-first-drive

Again not a fair stat as the Apple average is driven down by the thousands of retail employees that they have. The average engineer at apple makes well over 100k a year and that's without the stock bonuses which have created hundreds of apple millionaires in the last 5-10 years. The better judge in my opinion is that do the employees of the company feel the CEO is over compensated and I'll wager that hardly any of them feel Tim Cook is overpaid. Steve Jobs was probably equally well paid and regularly got approval ratings > 90%. Edit: On the other hand you have people like Carol Bartz who got $39 million a year and most Yahoo employees felt was not pulling her weight. One final point on Tim Cook - I'm pretty sure that he was not given $378 million check. IIRC he was given 1 million restricted stock units which vest in 10 years which at the time worked out to ~$35 million a year but only if he lasted all 10.

+1 The higher the switchover the more abrupt the transition will be. Manufacturers keep it high as it makes it more exciting and can help fuel economy but in our case we want it lower - mine is at 5600 and while still noticeable it is very controlled.

Glad to hear that you are ok and are getting a full cage as well. May I also recommend the use of arm restraints if you are not using them already. -
I have NT01s on my Ultralite and they have served me well. Excellent grip and predictability though they are fairly heavy. Very very well priced as well. That said I might go for a narrower set of tires next time as I'd like a little more "tossability" in the car. http://www.rahulnair.net/blog/2010/04/16/setting-up-a-seven-wheels-and-tires/

Do you fit in an S3? For many people the difficulty in fitting into the car reduces the number of available options.

I believe most people get in from above and slip into the seat. Not sure what they plan to do if they roll over and stop upside down. Lotus Cup started in the West Coast at Lotus Cup USA and has 8 or so events out here. Website at: http://www.lotuscupusa.us/

I use Wiley X prescription sunglasses and find them fantastic. They are ballistic rated and with the facial seal attachment they do not let any wind or dust in. http://www.wileyx.com/motorcycle/

Top Gear with R500 before they take it down

One very famous X-Bow fan is Sebastian Vettel - the reigning double F1 world champion. My favourite story about it was that he drove his X-Bow from Germany to Monza (Italy) qualified on pole, won the wet race and then drove the X-Bow back home. http://axisofoversteer.blogspot.com/2008/09/sebastian-vettel-has-crossbow.html -
+1 the great colour choice In case you need to compare notes the new SoCal Caterham dealer has been documenting their R400 build on the British Speed forums at http://www.britishspeed.com/forum/showthread.php?6016-Caterham-R400-Build-at-The-Adrenaline-Gallery

The GGLC has just started taking orders for 2012 tickets and corral passes. Deadline for orders is June 25 http://www.gglotus.org/ggshop/ggcorral.htm
-
Incidentally the GGLC will be having our regular monthly meeting in Palo Alto on the friday before the the historics - all Se7en owners are of course welcome to attend. We will also have our usual breakfast meet in Salinas before heading to the event itself. I will post info as times and locations get decided.
-
They are typically ~$50 for each days entry and for an extra $10 you can get a corral pass that will let you park in the Lotus corral on sat (usually outside of T2) and the general parking on sunday. You have to be in a Lotus (or Se7en) to park in the saturday corral. Exact details and prices will be posted next month and I'll post them here as well.

New member, want to build a Birkin - any advise?

I was over sound as well and ended up running out of turn 5 in 5th gear and part throttle. I think I'm going to go with a secondary "Laguna only" muffler that I can bolt to the roll cage and use in series with my current hushpower. As for the speed of theses cars I did a 1.47:0 lap while doing the entire course in 5th as I was having trouble heel and toeing in the pedal box. Next mod will be moving stuff around for a bit to get some more legroom. -
New Triump TR7 in 1975: $5100 with ac and cassette as $425 and $200 options New 1975 Mustang Mach 1: $4188 Colorado per capita income 1975: $6219 New 2010 Mustang GT Convertible: $32,995 New 2010 Shelby Mustang GT500 convertible (540 hp): $48,175 Colorado per captia income 2010: $42,802 With 36k warranty, reliability and relatively modern handling I think its safe to say that the modern Mustang is a much better deal than the Triumph.
