  1. Can some german speakers translate the specs of the cars? The Porsche appears to be fully cages (GT3 perhaps?). Also who was the Cat driver?
  2. One suggestion not related to you original question but to Ultralite Diffs in general is that you should definitely consider adding additional bracing to protect the diff from torque. It looks like you are running the stock 3 point configuration that at least 4 people have snapped (including me). I'd also recommend strengthening the front attachement point inside the transmission tunnel.
  3. I've gone to a different bolt pattern on the front so they will no longer fit. I have tried them on the car before I switched and fit fine (5 mm spacer needed). I will do slicks at some point in the future but will go for something narrower since I'd like to still be able to kick the rear out under power.
  4. I have a set of these in the garage with Jims name on them
  5. I've never carried a fire extinguisher and frankly I dont understand why. If any of my cars was to ever catch fire I will be running as far away as possible and waiting for insurance to pay for replacement. To each his own!
  6. 2 words: Cool Suit
  7. I got a custom hushpower after Lorens recommendation and am very happy with it. It brought my sound levels down from 109 db (old burnt out exhaust) to 95 dB with no noticable loss of power. Additionally they stay cool enough that they will not instantly sear the skin off which is useful in a Seven.
  8. I have a hollow square tube similar to the top bracket in the pic
  9. Thats great news. This is the only pic I have of my upright at the moment. The car itself is sitting in a friends shop with the engine in bits http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4051/4459560421_292e8b2693.jpg IMG_0044 by rnair, on Flickr
  10. I will pick up one of the baffles once I get my engine build sorted out. +1 on the improvements and I have also copied the diff support. If you are taking requests I'd love get Caterham CSR style CF front wings and a set of stronger fender support brackets. All the current CF wings out there seem to be designed for smaller wheels (13-15 inch).
  11. Wow! Episode 2 was a genuinely good show - if it stays at this level or better I will definitely keep tuning in. I especially liked the photography on the Aston Martin segement.
  12. Best of luck with the build! There are at least 2 Locosts owners from OR that are on this board: randy g with a Zetec powered seven while homebrew built the one below. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3201/2915071415_4ac3f6f323.jpg Untitled by rnair, on Flickr
  13. Dunno where it is sourced from - could be a drawer slide.
  14. Thats the design on my Ultralite
  15. Yup
  16. This article has a more interesting take on how even the smallest probabilities will have an effect: http://writ.news.findlaw.com/dorf/20100113.html
  17. I posted this on a different forum: It was about what I expected it to be. The ideas for the segments were ok but the execution needs some work - the chemistry will definitely take some time to get there. TG UK took a couple of years and a host change to get to where it is now. The part that really annoyed me was Buzz Aldrin in the Small Car. You have one of the more interesting people of the 20th century and all you can ask him about are what he thought about some of his past cars (with no details)???? The other thing they are missing is the cinematic quality of the video. The UK Top Gear looks film-like with a wonderful softer feel to the video. I dont know how this one is shot but the colours did feel too bright and documentary-like.
  18. I was at the press day and I have to say that the cars look pretty good in person and the Elise was actually my favourite. I had a few interviews with the senior management that are posted at http://gglotus.org/blog/?p=1770 The one with the head of design is where he says the front ends of the cars are inspired by the Seven You can also see some of the pictures that I took at

  21. The first guy is a graphic description of why you should use arm restraints.
  22. How about turbo lag though? I would think that when you are doubling hp you would have some significant lag while wont be much fun.
  23. I am confused - how can a "jello" steering be caused by spinning rear wheels? Do you have any confirmation that the rear wheels are spinning - have you heard wheel spin or has anyone else seen tire slip? Perhaps it is just the steering going light due to cycle fenders in which case you try venting the fenders and/or going to the CSR style "spoiler" fenders.
  24. What kind of Seven do you have? What kind of tires are on it - sounds more like they are breaking loose rather than getting airborne Mid-engine caars intentionally have a low polar moment of inertia which makes them less resistant to direction change and easier to maneuver: http://www.autozine.org/technical_school/handling/tech_handling_4.htm My steering does get lighter as the speeds pass about 70 mph. While it was a bit disconcerting initially, I no longer even notice it.
