  1. Guns are not the problem at all. Those who wish to commit mayhem would find a way and it is simple. I grew up in the mid west during the "zip gun" era in a sort of tough area. We made weapons from almost everything, there was a severe shortage of radio antennas. With a small camping propane tank a slightly intelligent person can commit more mayhem than with a gun, and a small co2 canister will make an air gun that is quite silent. What we do need to do is start holding people responsible for their actions and all of then including the Inron management types. I would favor greater use of the death penalty if we didn't murder so many innocent people with it. Ban guns and I for one will buy, steal, or make a fully auto silent one that uses either easily made or stolen ammo. No reason to be at the mercy of those who are armed like the poor Mexicans. Talk about gun control failure.
  2. Love it!!! Guilty as charged, last trip to town I bought some packing tape cause it was cheap and it sure as heck was, but not nearly as inexpensive as it should have been. It wouldn't even stick to it's self. When will we ever learn? Am going to make a few copies and next trip to town leave them scattered about chairman mao's junk tool store if you do not mind.
  3. My take; cannot understand anyone using anything that changes normal state. ( this from a former smoker, drinker, and adrenalin junkie). freedom as defined by me is; we are free to do as we choose as long as in the exercise of that freedom we do not infringe on the freedoms of others. It is a slippery slope for drug users including alcohol but if used in private and not effecting others their actions pose no threat to others freedoms. However this just does not happen and while pot is the least harmful drug it still effects all of us if only by the fact that "stupid" is less productive and drags down our standard of living. We should wait until we clean up our own house before going after the "pot heads"-- " let he who is with out sin cast the first stone" and then lets cast it in the most needed direction. If we all eliminated one meth supplier or cooker it would do a world of good for the country.
  4. Not a steal, but a fairly good price in today's market. The prices of new autos are grossly overinflated and partly to blame is the auto bail out. I bought 2 years ago at a bargain price fully understanding that the market was going south, but at my age my life is going south at a faster rate and the car represented a windfall from stock trading. I am willing to bet that "name brand" sevens will see the low teens before we are done, tight market and some new players being offered. Take a ride in a well sorted LS swapped Miata or RX-7 FD to start the list. The days of buying and loosing half your 'investment' are here again.
  5. The price is right. It is too bad that energy and time are wasted on the young. besides I have enough. but for those who might be thinking; a poor economy is the best time to start a business and this would be a good one, built in customer base for spares and likely the best base car in the Miata,
  6. I am 5'11 and a little short in the leg and long on torso, keep the pedals close to the forward stop and there is about 4+ inches of travel and i bet it could be modified to come further back. My daughter is about 5'7 and does well. need to set in one, but I bought mine sight unseen. And being overhead hung it would be easy to add pads.
  7. I have one and love it. have put about 10k miles on it in two years, 700 in one day. It has been over gravel washboard roads, shredded a front tire at about 80, in general use it as a daily driver, the trunk will hold a stuffed suite bag and a small cooler (enough for a week) and is reasonably comfortable hydroplaning at freeway speeds. perhaps a little too long wheel base to track but then except for it being a little tight for my 13 shoe it is very roomy and the attention to detail is very good. Gonna die with it and my daughter has dibbs.
  8. the business plan of most of them contains plans for the customer/consumer/voter that looks a lot like the same thing that the businesses that are legal only in Nevada do.
  9. Is an old saying in statistics- "Give me the data and I will arrange it in such a manner as to justify the conclusion you wish"
  10. the republicans have been recently branded as the party of NO, but we must remember that during the Bush era some lady called Nancy was holding back just as bad, we need people who are not afraid to vote for the country not the party. They are just like the fellow worker who will skid your job to make you look bad (hoping to get ahead) instead of just doing their job to the best of their abilities. We too need to change- lets all write in Jessie Ventura and Warren Buffett,
  11. There have been many times that I did not fire anyone because the available replacements were worse. we are there now, I am not happy but I was less happy 7 years ago. it is good to differ and I have the utmost respect for those who think differently than me that do so in the best interests of the country, they are in the minority these days and may have always been.
  12. When my sister brags on the current prez; my answer is do you really think that a product of the cook county political machine is totally honest? Our problem is us. We let those who "want to" become our leaders and most of them have their own wants at the fore front. We need economy of operation, honesty, compassion and leaders who make decisions based on "what is good for the country" not what is good for the people who paid for my campain. btw i sort of lean liberal and would vote for a morman but not "that" morman, Obama made a mistake when he didn't select John Huntsman as his vp and let Biden out to pasture. is this stirring the pot?
  13. Have one very similar. It is a harbor fright motorcycle jack that I bought at a yard sale for $45 (still too much) it will pick my S1 up but being rated at 1500lbs is right on the edge and as JohnK said it is quite touchey when lowering. to complement it; I built a cart on rollers that is open on one side to slide under the car when jacked up (stole the idea from a usa7s post) , you cannot safely roll the car with the jack wheels. Now have a hf transmission jack that will get converter with a higher lift capacity and steel wheels. Keep in mind that there are no quality item on sale at harbor freight aka chairman mao's junk sales.
  14. It is a Hot rod, would have gone over better as a 27t track roadster, My guess is that it would be high operating cost, and that on a winding road you would never be able to read a v8 stalker license plate.
  15. it is always a crap shoot to some extent, I bought a s-1 that was listed on feebay, didn't sell but continued talking to seller and bought it sight unseen, seller was highly motivated and not dishonest, just confused and wanting out, price was fair, but knowing what I know today would have bought something else, but now kinda fond of the oddball. know what you want- use every thing you can to reduce the unknowns- and price it according to the unknowns- remember if it seems like too good of a deal then it likely is not a deal at all. there are crooks everywhere even on ebay. good place to get your involuntary sex.
  16. they and you are right. and you have presented the lesser of 3 evils.
  17. " It is very difficult to under estimate the American voter."
  18. was in Ogden buying a rx-7 FD and went to the car show there ( it was 3 blocks long and then saturday saw the same show at the university. car show was much better.
  19. it is done on a regular basis--BUT-- for this one the cat is out of the bag, and the value is now zero, the action is illegal and one could lose their car. any time you do something like this and another knows about it you are at risk. in most states even offering to sell a title is a felony.
  20. most companies are owned to a very large degree by mutual funds whose managers are looking for short term gains to attract new investors and they in turn encourage short term gains in stock price at any cost. "We" get what we ask for with some rare exceptions. In a perfect world the "free market" (which do not exist) would determine the amount of CEO's salary. In a private the owner takes all the profits and usually no more and an excessive amount will either doom the business or sprout competition. Most of us here are by owning a 7 judged as paying far too much for goods. Once upon a time you could build one for far less than 1 k that might even out perform.
  21. Right on! this is a case of adjusted statistics. But we do indeed have a problem in our publicly held companies, and it is all too easy to see where the board of directors (and CEO) are not acting in the best interest of the owners. For the most part I can locate an Indiana farm boy who can run your corporation better than most of the hyped CEOs. Invest carefully so you can buy more sevens.
  22. You pays your money and makes your choices, to each his own, First started using turbos in early 70s cause they were cheap power and reliable, the tech. has changes remarkably over the years, but it is hard to get the instant response from a turbo engine that you can get from a NA, turbo lag is a non factor now but the quick bark that comes from a normally aspirated engine is hard to obtain, as for engine management being complicated- it is the same either way when you start extracting large amounts of power from a small engine. for my part; I am quite willing to admire both the workmanship and driving skill that comes from the owners of these cars. let's not fight- there are very very few true lotus 7s out there.
  23. there are more than 2 positions to the foot-feed. A well balanced turbo is hard to detect in the power band, in fact can usually be less tweeky than a non-turbo of the same hp/wt . there is no such thing as too much horsepower, there is such a thing as using too much of it.
  24. my s1 fenders come down to about 8" off the ground in front, I don't like the look real well, but I do not get the rocks thrown forward and it has seen some gravel roads at speeds fast enough to smooth out the washboards, my fiberglass buggy with higher cut fenders just heaves rocks and mud out the front so you can drive into it. those s1 fenders are looking better all the time.
  25. Just got back from a couple days in Grand Junction, it's 125 miles from my place in ticaboo/lake powell, was a fun drive shredded a tire at about 90 that was hard on the front fender bracket but other wise ok, heater worked fine and came back with the trunk full and groceries piled to the roof in passenger's side. will need to fix a bag to hang off the spare in back .
