  1. Same question here. Mine are stock CF from Caterham with 20k miles of backroad pitting on the guards and rear fenders. I'm considering a vinyl wrap on the fenders since they're destined for more abuse and I'm hesitant to make the rest of the car match fresh paint.
  2. Whoa, that is light. SV or S3 chassis?
  3. @Croc Yes, I did purchase my CSR from @The Fuselage out of Vermont. The kit was imported by Beachman Racing in 2014, built and sold in 2016. I'll have to confirm which dry sump system I have.
  4. Having acquired a new-to-me CSR260, this topic is of peak interest, given my opposition to replacing a Cosworth engine due to oil starvation. Especially given the obvious oil overflow around the oil catch tank area in my current (as assembled) configuration. I'll post pictures in a week or so when I'm back with my car. My plastic oil catch tank (as supplied by Caterham) is mounted on the right side firewall, behind the battery. A couple alternatives I've seen in my short Google research on the subject: https://premierpowerengines.com/aluminium-catch-tank/ Aluminum tank with sight tube and drain https://www.racetronix.biz/p/catch-tank-1l-8an-g-view-alm-blk/tank-ct1l8gb?dfw_tracker=58263-TANK-CT1L8GB&gclid=Cj0KCQjw6J-SBhCrARIsAH0yMZhSdvE5i7hzEa8bNXdVjIoIU9YuOiGcjciX3dFyVJGKZuHF63DbdDQaAm2qEALw_wcB Aluminum tank with sight glass and drain Could the second option from Racetronix be a suitable alternative to @sltous choice? The form factor is more similar to the Premier Power model, yet it has a sight glass versus dipstick.
  5. Last chance before I order new. Anyone have one they'd like to part with?
  6. Last chance before I order new. Does anyone have one they're looking to part with?
  7. I like it. I've been a firefighter (now Fire Apparatus Engineer, I drive/operate the fire engines and ladder trucks) for 15 years, large Southern California county fire department. We're considered an "all-risk" fire department so definitely a "jack-of-all-trades master of none" scenario: including structure, wildland, hazmat, rescue. At 44 years old, I'm not all that senior (or so I think!) but I'll contribute what little advice I've gleaned over the years. Previously, I've been a supermarket bagboy, tutor (elementary/high school/SATs), and account manager (educational services) before finding my career in government public safety. I enjoyed most of those jobs with what I believe to be a healthy dose of optimism and not taking anything too seriously. I have what many call "the best job in the world" and derive immense enjoyment and satisfaction from it, yet there are coworkers who see only constraint and negative aspects in it. A good attitude takes you far while anything less allows you to be disappointed in the most happy circumstances. You'll have to do some searching to find your version of what this job represents for me. A good attitude, curiosity, and a genuine motivation to solve problems will take you far in any profession, as many others have opined. Each day it seems like I go to work to see my friends, chat, exercise, eat well, tinker with some machines, then it's time to go home. There are times when the citizens call for help, at which point we do our best to make the problems go away and bring a smile to everyone's face. I'll defer to the adults in the room (Croc, Pokey, et al) for the real advice. Work hard and play hard, and play with a Lotus or two along the way!
  8. Huntington Beach!
  9. @Sevins7 still looking for Brooklands screens?
  10. Looking for carbon or plexiglass/lexan. Mirrors to match would be helpful, too!
  11. Still have these? I'm local and can pickup.
  12. Any recommendations for a Southern California DMV office to initiate the SPCNS/SB100 process?
  13. I have a CSR with the standard rollbar. I'd prefer the trackday rollbar. Located in Southern California.
  14. Are you registering with SB100? The Copart listing already says "SPCN" so maybe it already has the proper title.
  15. I'm hoping you'll share the whole story once all the history is sorted out. I agree, this seems like the find of the century! Also, let's get a Southern California meet together once this rain blows through. I'm in Huntington Beach with a Seven arriving in the next week or two.
  16. Now that's dedication! My car was picked up the week before Christmas, so my wait will be about 3-4 weeks. Fingers crossed for an early delivery!
  17. I'm glad to see they went to someone on this forum. I messaged the seller but I won't have my car for at least another week. How did you retrieve them with all the snow on the I-80?
  18. Thank you! I hope to continue the tradition in the near future by finding a nice Caterham.
  19. @The Fuselage I would be very interested once you arrive at a time and price that suits your sale. Please consider me an interested buyer. Seeing @Sean's CSR260 and reading his tales of driving up and down California makes me hunger for the experience!
  20. I've been a member since at least 2014 but have yet to introduce myself. I'm Aaron, live in Huntington Beach, CA, currently own a 2007 Elise, without a Seven for the time being. I've always been a car guy, starting with water cooled VWs in high school and graduating to a few Locost 7s (turbo Miata and Yamaha R1 powered) and finally my current Lotus Elise. Along the way I've enjoyed 15 Miatas, a Subaru WRX, Sentra SE-R, Acura Integra, and my more recent fascination with an offroad Lexus LX470. I've recently decided that I can't ignore the reality that I need another Seven in my life, and it should be as close to the "real thing" as possible. The wife approves, so I should act before she changes her mind. I'm looking for a Caterham (always admired @Sean and his CSR260!), something along the lines of CSR/R300/R400/R500. Having owned a well-built Yamaha R1-powered Locost, I've also considered some bike engined cars, but they're hard to come by in the USA.
  21. Try Gary Straight at Straight Roads. I've used him twice, last time was 2017.
  22. Gert, do you have any other "lesser known" road recommendations in the Nearby mountains? I'm in Huntington Beach now but I grew up driving the roads in the San Gabriel Mountains. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Glendora Mountain and Glendora Ridge are 2 of my favorite roads. GMR. Is tighter with more traffic, while GRR has easier flowing turns. I had my Elise up there a few weeks ago and can't wait to go back. I'll be back once in fix my own piston ring issues... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Beautiful pictures. Is this Glendora Ridge Road? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. I'll post the text of ad for reference. I'm having trouble posting pictures here, so follow the link to see those. For sale is a 2007 Locost 7 powered by a Yamaha R1 Motorcycle engine. $14,000 You can reference my post at the end of the For Sale ad here: http://locostusa.com/forums/viewtopi...12308&start=15 The car is based on a CMC frame that has been extensively modified for both safety and performance. The chassis has the dimensions of the original “book” Locost design. Below is a list of features on the car: -2003 R1 Engine (160HP Fuel Injection) -6-speed Sequential Gearbox (Bike Transmission) -Toyota 10-Bolt Rear End with TRD Limited Slip (3.31:1 Gear) -GAZ Coilovers and Eibach Springs -Wilwood Calipers Front and Rear -Twin Master Cylinders w/Cockpit Bias Adjuster -Full Roll Cage -Kirkey Race Seats and 5-Point Harnesses -JAZ 8 gallon Custom Fuel Cell -Two Sets of Wheels This car was built by hand over the course of several years. Both the front and rear suspensions were redesigned and built to work with the components used. The entire build was documented from start to finish here: http://www.underwood-racing.com/project_seven.htm The “Construction” tab has all the build details. You can also read about the development of the car and see videos of it in action. The car was built to be a track/autocross car specifically, and is not street legal. It could be made that way with some additional lighting and wiring. I have completed most of the California SB100 process. BAR Smog Exemption is complete, CHP VIN verficiation is complete, and Brake and Lamp inspection is left to complete. It has been a great track car, the previous owner has competed in several time trial events in the Southeast, as well as participating in the very first Grassroots Motorsports Ultimate Track Car Challenge. It even earned the SPU class championship with the Tarheel Sports Car Club in 2008. Since I've taken ownership in December 2011 it has seen 12 HPDE track days in Southern California. It is fast, easy to drive, easy to maintain, and very easy on consumable parts. For additional information please email to aleevw(at)gmail(dot)com. Serious inquiries only, please. Thanks for looking.
