  1. May I add my car for sale? Locost 7, Yamaha R1 powered http://locostusa.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=12308
  2. I can personally attest to the speed and handling capabilities of this particular Seven. I'm usually unable to keep up with it at Buttonwillow, and that is with the older engine. A fresh engine most certainly increases the capability. For reference, my Seven is a Locost with 2003 Yamaha R1 motorcycle engine and transmission, 1120 lbs. wet weight. Good luck with the sale. I'll miss the comraderie at the track.
  3. Great footage. I feel deprived, my last track day was in August!
  4. I believe I have the same switch as xcarguy (pressure switch from summitracing), and I am currently without brake lights. Running lights work fine, only difference with mine is they are oval LED brake/turn/parking light units. Does anyone know if the switch just completes the circuit between the 2 wires? So to test if the switch is bad, just short the 2 wires together and the brake lights should activate, correct?
  5. Landshark, I'm also in Orange County if you ever want to get together for a drive. This summer should see my Locost get road legal!
  6. Awesome video. Thanks for sharing!
  7. I'm down in north Orange County, right near the beach. I'm working to get my car street legal, but it should be a few months given my time constraints at the moment.
  8. I can highly recommend Straight Roads (Gary Straight). He transported my Locost 7 from Philadelphia to Los Angeles. He came highly recommended bhy multiple Seven owners and was almost my cheapest quote. I did have to wait for a couple more cars to sign on (1 week extra in total) but it was well worth the wait. It was comforting to see that my car was the lowest valued in the transporter.
  9. Let's try this link:
  10. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XrhlBWE...8As%26sns%3Dfb A friend sent me an interesting video on some Japanese guys who drive their ex-Le Mans race cars on the street. It stands on its own merits (who doesn't want to watch Jaguar XJ220LMs and 962Cs running on the highway?) but I caught a glimpse of the owner's 7 (not sure what vintage, appears early due to bodywork) as he saddled up to take his XJ220LM for a spin. The 4-rotor Mazda 767B is pretty cool too. Aaron
  11. The Rotas should be adequately strong for almost anything you could do in a Seven, given the relatively light loads compared to other vehicles. I've had 2 sets of the 15" variety of their lighter wheels (RB is heavier due to spoke design) and had no problems on track. The publicized failures I've seen we're instances of dropping a wheel off the edge of the track surface with much heavier cars, i.e. Subaru WRX.
  12. Are these Ford Sierra parts? If so, would Merkur XR4ti shafts work? Just thinking out loud, no real experience.
  13. Gary at Straight Roads shipped my car from Philadelphia to Orange county, CA for $1750. He did mention that the price was low since he was trying to fill up the truck. Door to door delivery, fully enclosed, single layer (no cars above to leak), running car, extra parts included (1 set of wheels and a small box of misc parts). He is the owner of the company, has 3 trucks and 3 drivers, including himself, and came highly recommended. Based out of Denver, IIRC. He had a Bugatti Type 35 prototype (raced by Ettore Bugatti himself) going to a mechanic for engine work. Had to roll it onto my street to unload my lowly Locost. Needless to say my car was the least of his worries. Aaron
  14. Got one. Missed out on a few others so I finally had to pull the trigger.
  15. I believe you can order them brand new for a reasonable price. The receipt from my Locost lists $80/ea for 13".
  16. Can I get in on the next batch?
  17. I'm in for $18. This will be a great excuse to meet and drive in the summer weather.
  18. Wow, that is impressive! I'm interested in a copy as well. I need some wall art and this would do nicely. I don't suppose you'd make it available for us to print ourselves? For personal use only, of course.
  19. Ingmar, I have the same radiator on my Locost. It's the stock R1 unit and is curved to fit the contours of he motorcycle.
  20. Wow, that's one hell of a deal for what appears to be a very well sorted car.
  21. Martin, Yes, we both had plenty of fun for the day. I purchased my car from a gentleman in Philadelphia. It was originally built by Jeff Underwood. He has posted on USA7s and LocostUSA in the past.
  22. I had a great time and was very grateful to share a garage with you. I have some footage but the editing will be much less attractive.
  23. The SB100 title should read the year the car was registered, not the smog year used for engine certification.
  24. I'm the Locost R1 signed up with a group of friends. See you all at Buttonwillow!
