  1. Avon CR500's come in 13 inch I think my fronts are 185/55/13 on 7 inch rims. About $200 a tire though.
  2. Jerry, great looking car! Love the color http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/biggrin5.gif How wide is the car to fit two race seats? Don't think I could do that in my Caterham. Tom
  3. My 2000 Caterham came with both imperial and metric fasteners. Mines a dedion and a 6 speed so I can't comment on the other questions. As for the TR4, you might as well sell it, because it will feel like a truck compared to the seven, a slow poor handling truck. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/lol.gifyellowss72007-01-12 08:29:35
  4. Drain hole is on the bottom, fill hole is on the right side, but you need to cut down an allen key to fit it in there, it's tight. you access it from below. I have one that I cut down if you need it. filling is can accmplished one of two ways, using a long tube and funnel into the fill hole, fill until it starts to come out of the hole or some guys take the front plate off the top of the trans, I think there are 6 or 8 little allen head type screws holding it down. you can then fill to the level of the fill plug. You can get to the top plate from above, looking down at the back of the bell housing. I have the Caterham dry sump bell housing so that's not an option for me, no room. Tom
  5. Al, I have the Caterham 6 speed as well. There were some issues with the very first boxes, but I doubt that yours is one of those. Some experienced trouble getting into 3rd when cold and recommend using redline MTL as the gear oil of choice. Assuming you aren't flat shifting, I doubt that you would need a "service" at 3000 miles. IMHO. Tom
  6. Inconclusive. Car was spotted by my Cousin, who said, he thought it had clams, but wasn't sure.
  7. Jonathan,(boxologist) Just a heads up, EBT responded on Blatchat that he would contact you. Good Luck. Tom
  8. All right, Spotted an Orange Seven Northbound on Route 3 in Newtown Square, Pa. earlier this afternoon. Anyone we know? Tom
  9. Nice wheel! but I don't have enough thigh room. Probably need to lower the seat.
  10. locostv8 wrote: "Third and most important I bought a very nice 12" rosewood steering wheel and I need something to put it on." 12 inches!! Why so Big? I think my steering wheel is 280mm and I probably should have gone down to 260mm. yellowss72007-01-07 10:08:12
  11. I usually answer to Tom. Yes Al, those are Carbon trumpets and it is street legal. It's on the CR500's today and will be going out shortly to test my new Bullet Cam Christmas present. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/biggrin5.gif Would love to meet up for a Blat sometime. And you DEFINATELY must bring Orange to one of our Autocrosses.
  12. Posted per your request.
  13. Thanks Mazda, 7 years old now and it still looks OK despite the constant blasting by the stones that get kicked up by the front tires. More now than ever with the soft and wide slicks. These cars are meant to be driven, with the possible exception of Sugino's masterpiece. Caterham put together a pretty nice kit, and it only took a total of 80 hours to build with only a few issues due to it being a LHD Dry Sumped K Series which Caterham told me they never built before. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/confused5.gif
  14. I found that the build manual is sufficient to complete the build. I have the Tony Weale book but didn't have to refer to it. I have a PDF copy of the build manual if you need one. Don't know if the year or spec engine and gearbox is critical to your build or if the 84 build specs differ from the newer chassis.
  15. Thought I'd share a pic of the heart of the beast prior to installation. Gold dry sump pump is mounted right front, altenator had to be mounted off the front of the engine facing toward the engine due to the headers and steering column on the left hand side. Dry sump tank is incorporated in the bellhousing. http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/20070105_135907_rover_k_series.jpg
  16. I'm 51 now, and built it 7 years ago. I originally wanted an old XKE, but the thoughts of maintaining a 40 year old english car made me look elswere. The Caterham was the perfect solution, old style looks, new parts and unparalled performance. Still puts a grin on my face every time I drive it. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/biggrin5.gif
  17. I used the image upload button. (The one with the little arrow)
  18. Al, I run 13 inch CR500's at 18 pounds front and back. For autoxing, I run 12 pounds in the Hoosier slicks.
  19. This is a picture of my Ferrari Yellow, 2000 Caterham Superlight #123. Powered by a Dry Sumped 195 bhp, 1.8 liter Rover K series, weighing in at a svelt 1164 pounds. Still learning how to get the most out of it. http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/20061231_123114_Copy_of_DSC_622.jpg And in street trim http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1158429415_fall 07.JPG
  20. Late 60's & 70's rock in general, The Who and Neil Young in particular. Greenday and Smashmouth in the somewhat current genre. Wife and kids say I'm stuck in the 70's. Guess the 7 confirms it. Last concert: Steppenwolf with Foghat as the warm up act earlier this year. John Kay at 60+ years old still Rocks! Nice guy, came out after the concert to have pictures taken with the concert goers. Announced that this would be the last tour. 40 years on the road was enough.
  21. Just looked in my assembly guide and there is no info as to bulb type. Tom
  22. That's good news Michael, we'll continue our rivalry then. Would have hated to lose you from DMOD just because you have that heavy old Zetec. See you in the Spring. Tom
  23. In thinking over the logistics required for an autox, it might be alot easier to join up at an SCCA or other sponsored event. A bunch of Cobras have shown up and were allowed to run as a group at a couple of our philly region events. Not as many runs as we'd like but we could use it to establish an interest level. The Philly region ended its Summer series, this past Sunday. So unless you guys are crazy and want to run in the winter series this may be a moot point until the spring. Tom
  24. I'll assume Michael D., there are usually a couple of others that run in the DC region, I know of one maybe two others locally that would do it for fun. I know there are a couple with the Philly area Lotus society (PALS) but I don't know them. I could post on their message board. If you didn't mind linking up with another group, I know that the local area Porker club runs an autox that only get about 40 cars or so, and they let other types run. Maybe we could pair up with a like club and split the work. We work for them, they work for us?? Just a thought. Tomyellowss72006-11-08 13:10:39
  25. I agree with Russ, the more runs the better, but based on my Philly region experience, someone has to chase cones, work grid, record times etc. So we would have to have a decent number of participants to work while others run. And we'd need a lot of cones. Count me in. Tom
