  1. Congrats Hank!!! Eight years later, I still get those same feeling whenever I take mine out. It's just waaay too much fun. Be safe and enjoy! Tom
  2. While driving Southbound on I 95 just north of Christiana Delaware. Around 3:30 pm today. A Yellow nosed and fendered on Aluminium Seven, not a Caterham, not a Westfield, Not a Birkin or Superformance S1, Possibly a Locost. License plate something like Supr seven. Anyone here? tom
  3. A neighbor of mine is (soon to be was) a Dodge dealer. Third Generation owners, Same thing. Told, Your Done!!! Unfrigginbelievable. But don't worry I'm sure Obama will fix everything. Hope! Change! Tom
  4. 196 bhp 1164 lbs 5.94 lbs per hp
  5. No Problem Al. You're welcome to ride with us. Tom
  6. 196 at the Flywheel, for mine. Tom
  7. Saw a notice about the PALS, (Philly Area Lotus Society) getting together at a local Lotus Dealership. Weather didn't look promising this morning, but it cleared up enough that I figured I could get there and back before it got too threatening. Figured it would would be a good shake down run with the new Toyo's, and make sure that the brakes, oil and gearbox fluid changes were good. On the way there, I pass a nice series II seven, going the other way. bummer. Get to the dealership and find that I can't get to the other side of the dealership where the elises are parked because I couldn't get over the LARGE speed bumps. Bummer 2. Someone came out and opened the chains on the entrance around the block, and I was able to join the group. 10 or so Elises, a M100 Elan and a nice Elan S2. Other seven returned about 15 minutes later. Nice group of guys. Very accepting of the Caterham. Found out that fitting in the Caterham is way easier than getting into an Exige. I need to be alot shorter, lighter and way more flexible to get into on of those puppies with the top on. My Seven ran fine and I am positve I'm going to scare the crap out of my self on the track. Ready for LOG29!!! Tom
  8. Very nice. Amazingly uncluttered engine bay. Welcome. Tom
  9. Two weeks to go. Just waiting from one more package from Pegasus, with a few little odds and ends and I'm all set. New Hooisers, New Toyo R888's, New trailer tires. Wife hasn't seen the Amex bill yet. Picked up a few extra gallons of 100 octane GT race fuel this morning. Oil changed, Brake fluid Changed, drained the gearbox and put in some Redline MTL. Secured new odessey Battery. Cleaned and oiled the Airfilter. Had my mechanic inspect the car for the event and signoff on the Tech inspection. Trailer passed State inspection. Time to start loading up the trailer. We plan to get in on Thursday afternoon. So where and when are we meeting up? Tom
  10. I have a standard Caterham and I'm 6'1" and 225lbs. You should fit nicely hip wise, but you probably will have to remove the bottom seat cushion and either make a foam seat or use a thin pad to get you lower. Otherwise you will be looking over the windscreen, and may have trouble with your legs hitting the steering wheel. I Have a removable 280mm Momo wheel that gives me some added room. Shoe size will also determine your "fit". You will most definately need to wear a racing shoe of some sort to be able to get the brake pedal. In street shoes, there is no way I can drive with size 11's. The SV seems huge to me in comparision. I don't like the extra hip room, but I do like the wider pedal box. Good luck with your search. Tom
  11. Hank, forget the first stone chip. Wait until you rip your first fender off!!!!! Good thing is that they are easily repaired or replaced. I used 3-5 nylon bolts to hold mine on with. If you hit a cone they just rip out without tearing out the rivenuts or damaging the side skin. Tom
  12. Evan, I've insured my Caterham with JC Taylor here in Pa. Agreed value, unlimited mileage. Pretty simple process, to get it done. They've cashed my check every year for the last 9 years. Registration was pretty painless too. Registered in Pa. as A Special Constructed Vehicle. Had to have it insured, inspected, and jump thru the paperwork hoops. But went thru on the first attempt. Annual inspections have been painless as well. Tom
  13. Welcome to the group! Disclaimer first, I own a Caterham. Question, when you say either a Lotus 7 or a Caterham, have you eliminated all the other LSIS?? If you are just looking for a 7 type vehicle then you have a wide range of choices and opinions to sort out. If you're Autoxing, I can tell you that SCCA regs put All Caterhams and all other clones into D Modified or E Modified classes depending on engine size. D =2.0L and under and E= over 2.0 liter. An original Lotus 7 MAY qualify for one of the stock classes but you have to read the regs very carefully to determine which ones do. It too is dependent on engine displacement. I'll let those that track their cars explain what's needed there, but remember that an original 7 will be over 30-40 years old. For the street, any will do, but titleling and inspecting will vary greatly from state to state. I suggest you find examples of each type you are considering to sit in, ride in or test drive, before you put your money down. Each have their own strong points and weak points. As for Caterhams, I've had mine for 9 years now, and love it. It has the benefit of new rustfree steel, new running gear, and since I assembled it, I have a better idea of how to work on it. Best of luck. Tom
  14. I'm not a mechanic, but if you remove the spark plug, wouldn't you expect to get air flow out of the hole just from the compression of the pistion moving up? Sorry I can't be of more help. If you have spark, do you have fuel? is the injector on #4 working? Tom

Sorry for the delay Mazda. Here's a shot of the dedeion tube and the diff. Let me know if you need a different perspective. Tom
  16. Arya, you are wise beyond your years. I hope that more and more that your words become the rally cry to save us from the crap that is being foisted upon us now. Tom
  17. Socialism it's the only answer. Now what was the question? Some thing about "to each according to their needs" I need 100 octane race gas. Lots of it. Someone else will have to worry about that global warming thing. Tom

Mazda, I can take a few pictures tomorrow if you can wait. Tom
  19. Al, let's talk offline to coordinate the details for the trip down. I've looked at the route and leaving plenty of time for food, fuel and stretching, I think it will be a nice long leisurely drive. You are still welcome to ride with us if you don't mind staying over on Monday as I'm going to do my first track day. Or if you're bringing the trailer down in anticipation of bringing something back, I understand. Tom
  20. Congrats!!! Looks like a nicely speced car. With that HP, just becareful of cold tires. Tom
  21. Sorry it took so long to post some pics. Better late than never.
  22. I'll have to pass on Carlisle this year. Both My Wife and my oldest Daughter Graduate on that weekend. My wife gets her Doctorate and my oldest Daughter graduates with her Batcheor's degree. I think it would be a mistake to miss those events. Tom
  23. You never know. If you can get that rear end to stick, I may be chasing your times. As for fenders, techinally you need to have at least half the tire covered, but locally, you probably won't run into any problems. Just make sure you and any passengers are wearing full faced helmets, because with sticky Hooisers, you WILL be throwing around every stone and peeble on the course. I'm switching to R35A compound on the Hoosiers as I want to be able to use them on the track at Barber Motorsports park. I feel that I may get hooked on this track day thing. More seat time, Something different. I still enjoy the One minute of thrill on the Autox course, I'm just expanding my horizon. Tom
  24. OOOH, Competition!!! Turbo, slicks, Uhh Oh, Turbos are not allowed in DMOD. But I won't tell anyone Roman. Hope the weather holds for next weekends Autoxing opener. I just Flushed out the Brake Fluid, Changed the Oil and Filter, replaced the Oil Pressure Sender. Installed the Petty strut. And Ordered new Toyo's and Hoosiers. Just did a preseason tech inspection, found some loose rear antisway droplinks, that I'll replace. Getting ready for the Barber Track day. Tom
  25. Gas tank holds 8 gallons I believe.
