  1. My Duratec Birkin does exactly the same thing. Once I exceed 4000rpm especially in 4th and 5th gears the temperature drops. Its is very reassuring during spirited driving or track days to know I don't have cooling issues. I just put it down to the increased airflow through the radiator and maybe also the water pump/cooling system working more efficiently at higher rpm. Maurice
  2. Dzus fastener TL 110 Series overcentre latch, stainless with secondary lock. These are fitted to my Birkin and work very well. You need to order the latch and striker when ordering unless it comes as a kit. http://elcodis.com/parts/4015766/TL110AX-1KIT_STAINLESS.html Cheers Maurice
  3. I have removed my Duratec from my birkin S3 a number of times and dropping engine and transmission out the bottom is certainly the easier way. I remove all the ancillaries first e.g. fuel injection, alternator. I have a very low trolley on wheels that the engine/transmission is lowered onto then lift the car up and wheel the engine out. you will find it is not too bad a job. Maurice
  4. Go to the Burton Power UK website, navigate thru Gearbox page to T9, go to the 3rd page to find speedo drive unit. Maurice

  6. I am not being smart but have you checked the oil level yet? Maurice
  7. I have not got one fitted to my Birkin, but I do know of a few successful trailer hitches on 7's. Motorcycle trailers work well especially if all aluminum construction including the frame. Make sure the trailer hitch mount frame is attached all the way forward to the footwells to spread the load throughout the chassis. Also make sure once completed and the trailer is loaded up that not excessive weight is pressing downwards on the towball thereby placing extra load onto the chassis. Cheers
  8. I can get the info. Mine is a IRS model Birkin but a friend has live axle. I am pretty sure he uses AVO shocks 1.9 inch Dia. around 180lb. Will confirm. Maurice
  9. I have had a Ballistic Evo2 16 in my Birkin for over a year now. No Issues. I purchased the correct charger at the same time. Car always starts first crank. Car is running a 2.0 litre Duratec with mild tune. Evo replaces a Deka battery that worked well for 4 years. Incredible how light the Ballistic battery is. A quick way to get rid of 10lbs from your car. Maurice
  10. This is going to be an interesting build. I would say a first for a Birkin fitting an SR20 plus silvia box into the space. Engine as far forward as possible I would say and Dry sump. Will be very quick.
  11. Hi John Don't weld a tab, clip etc. to the muffler as it will fatigue and break. Trust me I know and as an Aircraft Welder Tradesmen I understand why. the best solution is to roll a strap of steel to fit the muffler diameter or to fit the tailpipe diameter, fold a small tab on this to bolt up to the chassis with a rubber exhaust pad between the brackets. My first welded tab on my Birkin exhaust broke within a year, my repair as above has lasted 4 1/2 years and still going strong. I have read posts in the past about rear exit tailpipes on 7s causing fumes in the cockpit but I have never experienced this on my rear exit exhaust. It certainly makes for a quieter cockpit on long drives. cheers Maurice

  15. Try checking your battery condition when your are trying to start your car, e.g. under load. It sounds like your battery is failing under load. Have you tried another battery, not jumper leads. Maurice

  25. Jlumba81 is on to it, I know my quick shifter lever was about a foot long when purchased, it is now about 4 to 5 inches long, shorter length above the pivot equals shorter the throw. Maurice
