Wet sump kit for 1.6L Sigma Engine
mrmustang replied to mrmustang's topic in Parts For Sale / Wanted
Rick Muck found it for me across the pond. Awaiting shipment, along with a drop floor for the drivers side -
Looking for Caterham supplied, or aftermarket wet sump kit for a 2013, 1.6L Sigma (Ford) engine.
-
Where would I find the engine variant, bar code label, casting code, or simply looking to see if the starter is on one side vs the other ? As always, thanks in advance for your assistance. Bill S.

Croc, I do not want to go dry, but if nothing "in stock" (Caterham options out of stock in the UK at least, have feeler out to US based dealer for options) pans out, I may be forced to go in that direction. Due to family and personal health issues this weekend, I have not even had time to take the bonnet off to get the part number off the motor to see exactly which "Sigma" engine I have. Maybe tonight, maybe next week, or even next month. Only time will tell. Thanks Bill

A little research shows a Raceline wet sump system, someone also mentions a "Ford Contour" oil pan. Anyone know the clearances of both compared to the stock pan seen in the pictures above? Since the car is sitting on an open center trailer for the next two weeks, might as well start working on a solution now, than waiting until it's on the road. As always, thanks in advance. Bill S.

1.75" of clearance is not the greatest scenario on first blush. Is a dry sump my only option at this point for a 1.6L Sigma engine? If so, what is everyone using? Thanks in advance, Bill S.

It is, after assisting him in trying to get an ad written and the car on BAT, Angelo graciously offered me the car at a previous response to an offer I made based on his original post, and our subsequent discussions on "How to properly sell" the car. Basically, when I rewrote the ad, I pretty much sold the car to myself, and just waited for the seller to realize it...LOL. Angelo and his wife have been very gracious, my wife and I drove down this AM (after a stressful 13 days in Florida for family), lots of hills, valleys, and twists and turns to get to where we met at a local park (I had 2.5 hrs sleep in the previous 24 hours) to load up. Shame they do not live closer, I could see us all as fast friends. Anyway, the change over is complete, the car is now in my garage, temporarily in Caterham prison while my driveway is torn up and 60 yard of fresh,4000psi (with fiberglass) concrete is poured. It's in good company and will not be lonely. While I await the curing of the concrete, I've ordered a drop floor, will most likely need to tweak/bend the brake pedal 1/2" to the left (I have a tool I used for the same tweak when building factory five Cobra replicas many years ago), and have inquired about a proper sump guard. Besides going through and re-tightening/torquing every nut and bolt over the course of the next few weeks, I'll be sorting the rest of the car in hopes of rescuing it from it's prison, refreshed, and invigorated, and ready for a little road time with the top down. Bill

Not sure about you, but this gal was on my tail for over three hours today. Could not shake her, not matter how many times I changed direction.

When I had to move a trailer and race car from West Palm to NJ I used Pegasus Transport out of Lake Worth, Fl (754) 777-6141 Since the trailer is the obstacle, that is what you need to search for in regards to transport companies if Pegasus is not to your liking. As for Uship, sure, if you want to be spammed for 6 months after the job is completew with people still bidding on your job, or want to let someone with no real world experience move the trailer and car, go for it. I tried them once, 5 years ago, and still get monthly emails from people asking if I ever got the job done.

Car is a S3, not a SV. If I had not put a deposit down on another vintage Shelby, this would already be in my garage.

Footbox dimensions standard vs dropped floors
mrmustang replied to mrmustang's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Renottse, Perfect, that is exactly the type of shot I'm searching for. At least in the SV, my shoe size is not really an issue. Wonder how different a standard chassis is, maybe someone will post so we can compare. Thanks again for your assistance. Bill -

Footbox dimensions standard vs dropped floors
mrmustang replied to mrmustang's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Croc, Thanks, with my previous cars I ended up in driving shoes and was quite comfortable in a 6 hour+ drives, well, as comfortable as I could be with an original bench seat that is.. With the drop floor not really being an issue, I'm wondering if I could get someone to duplicate the following picture (this would be an ERA 427SC Cobra replica footbox for pedal placement and width comparison) -
So with my hunt starting to bring out prospects, and my lack of spare time until June, I got to thinking if my 6' 200lb, size 10.5EEE body is going to still fit in a Caterham. So I got to thinking, I know the dimensions of a typical 427SC (14.2" across, just in front of pedals) and 289FIA Cobra replica (14" same place), I wonder how close the footboxes are in the Caterham, standard floor vs dropped floor, hence the start of this post. Anyone has the dimensions of the footbox where the face of the pedal assembly is on both the standard floor and dropped floors? Thanks in advance for your assistance, Bill

Boss 429 powered Pinto 7 or a Cobra replica, who knows, both offer power to weight, both offer flexibility for the street or the track, both fit in the spare space in the garage

After a "7" year hiatus for various reasons, I'm on the hunt for another "7". I've forgotten just how much the thrill of the hunt is.....LHD, RHD, SV, DOHC, Zetec, Duretec, who knows what I'll end up with this time around.....WOOHOO

If I get outbid on the BAT car, we'll talk Bill S.

The Regular Summary of Classified Ads of Se7ens Found For Sale
mrmustang replied to Croc's topic in Cars For Sale
So, what do we think of detuning the turbo down to say 4-6psi, maybe removing it altogether since I'm suspecting the "oil leaks" may require a drivetrain pull. As a SV, I'm thinking a good platform to play with for this 6' 200lbs 10.5EEE potential buyer -

No track ready car at the moment, but I'm game, especially since the track is a scant 131 miles from my home. Now all I need to do is buy something, 7, Cobra replica, or ???? for track use...........Time will tell. Bill S. -

New, computer controlled, Porsches, perhaps Vintage Porsches, there is simply nothing simple about an old Porsche and it's upkeep and/or restoration -
