WCM S2K up for sale in Santa Cruz

Josh from this group is selling his WCM S2K. He says the reason is he just doesn't use it enough, something think is quite common with specialty cars. I've seen the car and it was in good running order even before he started making the improvements noted in his local post. I'm not sure how to post links but you can view his post at WWW.baautox.com in the cars for sale section.

We need another bay area buyer to step up!! Preferably one who wants to track this car because RNR and I are starting to feel lonely and could use another like minded competitor to play with.

Looks like a really nice car. How is the WCM cockpit size/driving room compared to the other Seven's?? I've never seen one in person.

Probably the roomiest 7 around. I have an 18" drivers seat and a 14" pass seat, and lots of footroom .

My S2k has an 18" drivers seat and a 16" passengers seat. I'm right at 6' and there is still room to move the pedals a few inches forward for a taller driver. RNR is over 6' and he seems quite comfortable. Price is below what I think it should go for and less than half what a new build will cost. You can beat the Honda S2000 motor and transmission all day and it just keeps going without any special concerns or maintenance. As far as the performance of the car goes, I'm an old hack of a driver with enough ingrained mistakes to make a "how not too" video and I still pass just about everything on track. In a word "it ain't me, it's the car".

OF: I'd sit in one first. It is amazing how the car specs tell just 1/2 the story. My Caterhams are virtual twins of my Birkin, yet the leg room, arm room, visibility of the gauges, proximity of the gear shift lever, height of the windshield, placement of the mirrors, usability of the seat belts, comfort of the seats, seat back angle, etc., etc., was all different.

As I recall the Ultralite places gauges in the center, and mounts the steering wheel low. Or maybe it just depends on the builder. My only point is to try it on for size first, rather than buying via internet. Definitely worth the price of an airplane ticket, IMHO.

All that said, this one looks pretty wonderful and at a very reasonable price.

I've been trying to do what you suggested but it's tough to track anything down. If I don't find something by May I will make sure I get out to the Carlisle show in May. I didn't know about that show last year or I would have gone already. In the later 70's I built a Bradley GTII for myself which had a rep for being too tight for tall guys. I ended up fitting in it just fine with very few mods.

Come to the NJMP se7ens gathering in early July to see a nice collection of se7en variants.

Is that a group track day? I only live about 40 minutes from Pocono. They finally put in a real road course instead of the potholed mess they had for so many years.

This will be the 5th year gathering of a group of Se7ens at NJMP for a weekend of trackdays and good fun. Last year we had a great turnout, with 18-20 cars, including, Caterham S3's and SVs, Storkers, Superformance S1s, and a WCM Ultralight. This year we may even have a couple of Birkins join us if they get their act together.:jester:

So if you own a Se7en and want to get on track, or just want to hang out with other Se7en owners/Nuts, or are thinking of buying or building a Se7en, then this is a great opportunity to compare cars and sit in them to see how you fit. If you bring a helmet, you may even get an opportunity to ride along on the track. Tom

I am looking for a seven to autocross. I'd like an S2K motor and IRS. I also would like to keep the investment as close to the 15K I have in cash as possible. I am not too hung up on cosmetics but want light and fast and ready to autocross if possible.

Lafayette In. I'd like to purchase from east of the Rockies if possible but will consider any reasonable car.

Gunships S2K just went for $21K and change and that's going to be hard to beat for a deal. He should have waited about 2 more months to sell it when the whole country will be looking at spring weather and time to take the toys out and play. I've seen it happen over and over with boats and even convertible cars, worth a lot more when the suns out and hot.
