Come on....you know you want to eat the forbidden fruit.....

I have, as we speak, the new, yet-to-be-released, three-wheel prototype Storker sitting in my shop......I could just bring that. However, I think right-handers will be a bit of a challenge. :D

Really? From reading your posts on here I would have said you were using the right hand almost constantly. :spam:

Shane,

I haven't bee on in a while. How are you feeling. Don't tell me with with your left hand.

Michael

Michael,

I'm still on the mend; six weeks tomorrow. Have a follow up visit scheduled for Monday that will include new X-Rays. I've lost about 15 lbs since the accident, but that's actually been a good thing; less weight to carry around while I heal. And if I can keep the weight off, I should be faster on track. Sorry, Michael, but I typed this in my phone.....using my left hand. :D

Hi...........

I have a scratch build, bike-engine Locost 7. Took me 5 years to complete. I welded a book frame and engineered and constructed all the running gear and added donor parts from various cars and motorcycles. I live near DC and am very interested in the NJMP July 4 outing. I am recovering from spinal fusion surgery that I underwent last November (L1-5 are one titanium construct now, kind of like a ladder frame of sorts) and have recently conducted a few trailer car loading trials to test my preparedness for a track outing. Last trial wasn’t so bad and had me somewhat better off than the first couple efforts which left me spent after just loading the car on and not even tying it down. Patience……..as my OT daughter says, “thou shall not compare thyself to thy former self.”

All that to ask if a Locost build would fit with the spirit of the weekend. I took it to the Summit Point track twice in 2013 (2014 had two daughter’s weddings and no money left for me) and it performed admirably until a panhard rod weld broke. Testing and tuning are still in the early stages and I have much to sort out, but if physically able and the car is still in one piece by July I would like to be considered as a participant. It looks like a great event.

Hi Fmorser,

Thank you for posting. Sorry to hear about the back injury. One of my colleagues had all of that work done and he is none the worse for wear after a long recovery time so the eventual outcome for you should hopefully be as good.

Unlike some, I am not a brand snob so a Locost 7 is a 7 in my eyes. In June 2011 we had Ottocycle's Hayabusa Fisher Fury (sadly no more) which went very well (sensational sounding car at full wail!). So your car should fit right in. Bring your sense of humor and you will find we are a fun crowd to hang out with. Hopefully you can get yourself recovered enough and give your 7 a decent pre-event preparation so that it will be reliable and safe for you and I am sure you will have a lot of people intrigued to know more about your bike engined car.

I can send a sign up link out to you if you email sevensarefun@gmail.com NJMP does like to check new drivers out via a track experience resume to make sure they are eligible for going out in a passing group but it looks like you have some track experience so that helps.

Cheers

mike

fmorser,

Welcome aboard. Sorry to hear about your back. As I type, I'm on the mend from an unfortunate accident I had with my Stalker at Texas World Speedway back in Febuary. I received a slight fracture in T2, a nasty fracture in T10, a compression fracture in T11 and a burst fracture in T12. So far, I've been able to avoid surgery and am healing naturally in a back brace, pared with good meds and equals doses of humor from the guys on this forum.

i attended NJMP last year and it is by far the most fun event I've ever attended. If you can make the event, do so. You'll be glad you did.

Thanks for the replies. I should have said the surgery was due to scoliosis long put off until the point when I couldn't stand for more than a couple of minutes before pain got too great. Kind of like the frog in the boiling water and finally realizing I had to do something. They stuck in spacers in between the vertebrae and then the ladder frame and sent me on my way. Not sure what the metal detector will do at the airport, but I'm happy with the outcome. I believe I know the owner of the Fisher Fury you describe. He stops by my house periodically with his Europa and he used to check on my progress with the Locost. I am hoping to do some auto-crosses between now and July to test and tune. I will send an email to you Croc shortly. Thanks very much.

Best,

Fred

I'm feeling rather left out so here goes:

Assuming the radiator & nose cone I've been waiting on all year come in time :toetap05: I was planning to attend. However I'm becoming progressively more skeptical every day that i'll have my car back on the road and sorted in time to try my hand at a track day.

Worst case i'm a definite maybe spectator
